Orthokeratology는 RGP 콘택트렌즈를 이용하여 각막에 물리적인 압박을 가해서 근시도를 일시적으로 감소시키는 방법이다. 본 연구의 목적은 잠자는 동안 렌즈를 착 용했을 때 시력과 근시도의 변화를 평가하고자 한다. 21 명의 근시자(평균 나이 11.3 ::t 2 .1세)를 대상으로 역기하학 디자인의 RGP 콘택트렌즈를 잠잘 때에만 착용시키고 1 개월 동안 추적관찰하였다. 렌즈를 처음 착용하고 1 일째， 3 일째， 7 일째， 14 일째， 21 일 째 및 30열째 나안시력과 자각삭 굴절검사 및 세극등검사를 실시하였다. 렌즈를 착용 하기 전과 비교하여 1 개월 동안 렌즈를 착용했플 때 나안시력과 자각식굴절검사값은 유의한 변화가 있었다(나안시력의 평균 변화도 0.66 ::t 0.24, 자각식굴절검사값의 평균 변화도 2.30 ::t 1.18 Dl. 이상의 결과로부터 overnight orthokeratology 는 일시적으로 관시도를 감소사키고 근시진행을 조절하는데 유용한 방법임을 알 수 있었다.
Orthokeratology is defined as the temporary reduction in myopia and/or astigmatism by the mechanical pressures on comea using the rigid gas permeable contact lenses. The purpose of this study is to assess visual and refractive changes in subjects undergoing ovemight orthokeratology. Twenty-one myopic subjects(mean age, 11.3::!::2.1 years) were recruited for 1 month 띠al of overnight orthokeratology using reverse geometry rigid gas permeable contact lenses. After commencing lens wear, subjects were examined unaided visual acuity, subjective refraction and slit lamp exarninations on days 1, 3, 7, 14, 21 and 30. The mean uncorrected visual acuity and subjective refraction were significantly changed from baseline at day 30(mean change in uncorrected visual acuity of 0.66 ::!:: 0.24, mean change in subjective refraction of 2.30::!:: 1.18 Ð). These results suggest that ovemight orthokeratology is an effective means of temporarily reducing myopia and controlling myopia progression.
