본 연구는 국제교류를 통한 음악교육 중심의 유아세계시민교육을 교육현장에 적용한 사
례를 통해 과정적 의미를 탐구하고 향후 관련연구의 기초가 되는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위
해 음악교육을 한국의 유치원 만 5세 두 반과 푸에르토리코, 태국, 아프리카의 유아들과 1
년 간 국제교류형태로 진행하였다. 사례연구 결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 국제교류를 통한 음악
중심의 유아세계시민교육을 적용한 사례는 음악교육과정 설계, 음악교육과정의 영역별 사
례, 음악교육과정 사례 평가로 나타났다. 영역별 사례는 노래 부르기, 감상하기, 신체표현하
기, 연주하기, 창작하기 및 기타로, 사례 평가는 유아평가와 음악교육과정 평가, 학부모 평
가로 나누어 사례를 설명하였다. 둘째, 사례의 의미는 국제교류로 만나는 역동적 문화경험,
음악으로 연결되는 세계시민 공동체, 교사들의 새로운 음악교육적 도전과 성장으로 나타났
다. 후속연구에서는 미술, 음악, 신체, 언어적 아름다움을 통합할 수 있는 종합예술 중심의
국제교류가 이루어지길 바라고, 종단적 연구로 장기적인 효과를 살펴볼 수 있기를 제언한
다.
The purpose of this case study was to present music-centered global citizenship education for young children through intercultural exchange by exploring the procedural significance of it. Music education was provided for Korean kindergarteners in two different classes and preschoolers in Puerto Rico, Thailand and Africa for one year in the form of intercultural exchange. The findings showed that the music-centered global citizenship education could be organized in terms of curriculum design, different areas of the curriculum and case assessment of the curriculum. The present study has three educational implications such as providing the students with dynamic cultural experiences through international exchange, forming global communities through music, and challenging teachers with a new approach. More longitudinal studies regarding various types of art-centered intercultural exchange programs should be encouraged in the future.
