2006년 “재래시장 및 상점가육성을 위한 특별법”이 시행된 이후 다수의 아케이드가 본격적으로 출현하게 되었다. 대부분 전통시장의 아케이드들이 구도심에 위치하고 있어 도시경관계획 측면에서 연구할 필요성이 있다. 본 연구에서는 현대 아케이드의 원형이 되는 파리 passages들의 역사를 소개하고 도시경관의 특성과 요소 측면에서 passages와 국내 아케이드를 비교하였다. 파리에 현존하는 17개와의 비교를 위한 국내 사례로서는 최근 전통시장 활성 화 사업이 활발히 이루어지고 있는 부산광역시 11개 전통시장의 아케이드 사례를 연구의 대상으로 선택하였다. 분석의 결과 파리의 passages는 기존 도로체계에 부가적으로 가로가 만들어지는 반면 부산의 아케이드는 기존도로체 계를 그대로 이용한다는 다른 점도 있었으나 보행네트워크를 구성한다는 공통점이 있었다. 또한 파리 passages의 경우 내부 가로입면의 대칭성과 통일성이 부산의 사례보다 더욱 강하게 나타났으며 내부가로의 경관적 요소의 사용 또한 파 리의 경우에 비해 부산의 아케이드는 매우 부족한 상태였다. 향후, 국내의 아케이드 설치에 있어 의장적 측면에 대한 더 많은 고려가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Since the imposition of special law for the traditional markets in 2006, many arcades appeared in earnest. Most traditional arcades are located in old towns, so it is necessary to study arcades the urban landscape plan. This study introduces the history of passages in Paris, the prototype of the modern arcade compare those with the Korean modern arcade by analyzing the characteristics and elements of the urban landscape. The 11 cases of traditional market arcades were selected for the study in the Busan metropolitan city, where the Project for Traditional Market Revitalization has been widely conducted recently. These cases were compared with the 17 cases of representative arcades in Paris. From the analysis, we found the following result: arcades in Paris were made by adding supplementary streets to the existing road systems but arcades in Busan are utilizing the current road systems themselves, even though both of them are composing pedestrian networks. Moreover, arcades in Paris show more obvious senses of symmetry and unity than those in Busan, and former applied the vista elements of inner streets more diversely than the latter. Thus, in the construction of future arcades, more serious consideration on those design factors should always be taken.
