Engineering Advanced Membranes For High-Performance Gas Separation
Membrane-based separations provide significant advantages over the conventional thermally-driven separation process such as distillation since they require small footprints as well as less energy.1[] Polymeric membranes, most widely used for a variety of industrial gas separations, suffer from the limitation of separation performance, so-called the upper-bound limit due to their inherent drawbacks.2[] This presentation will introduce advanced membranes including mixed matrix membranes and ladder-structured polysilsesquioxanes, recently developed in our group to overcome the current limit of the separation performance of polymeric membranes.
