본 연구는 1990년에서 2004년까지 ‘한국스포츠심리학회지’에 게재되었던 195편의 논문들의 내용을 체계적으로 분석하였다. 연구대상자 특성, 연구주제, 연구방법, 통계분석 기법. 연구대상자들의 유형을 분석해 본 결과, 스포츠심리학 논문들은 주로 10대-30대의 청소년과 대학생 그리고 일반인들을 대상으로 시행되고 있었다. 논문의 연구주제를 스포츠심리학과 운동심리학 연구로 구별해 본 결과 2/3이상이 스포츠심리학 연구에 분류되었다. 스포츠심리학의 주제는 동기, 리더십, 응집, 집단, 성격, 심리기술, 불안/스트레스, 대처 등의 연구 논문이 주류를 이루었으며, 대부분의 운동심리학 연구주제는 정신건강의 영역에 귀속되었다. 연구방법에서는 설문지를 이용한 조사연구가 가장 많았으며, 질적 연구는 2000년대 들어 급격한 증가추세를 보이고 있었다. 다양한 통계분석 기법이 사용되었지만, ANOVA가 스포츠심리학 논문에서 가장 많이 사용된 통계분석 기법으로 나타났다. 상관관계, 회귀분석, 요인분석, LISREL의 사용도 증가하는 추세를 보이고 있었다. 마지막으로, 이러한 내용분석 결과를 토대로 한국 스포츠심리학 연구가 나아갈 방향을 논의하였다.

This study investigated the 195 published papers in the Korean Journal of Sport Psychology between 1990 and 2004 through a content analysis. Characteristics of all papers were analyzed by three five-year time periods and were categorized according to type of participants, topical area (except for motor behavior studies), methodology, and statistical utility. Most published studies used college students as participants. Sport psychology studies was classified under he broad headings of topics of motivation, stress/anxiety, social/group process, performance enhancement, and personality. Overall, the largest percentage of studies focussed on performance enhancement (including psychological skill analysis and method). Exercise psychology studies include exercise behavior and mental health. Survey studies were most frequently used in sport psychology papers, and field experiment and study showed decreasing tendency over 15 year. Although a variety of statistical analyses were used in the studies, ANOVAs were most frequently used in the studies. Future directions of sport psychology research in Korea were discussed based on the contend analysis.
