본 연구의 목적은 스쿠바 매니아들의 인구통계학적 특성과 그들이 행하는 스쿠바 활동요인에 따른 운동동기 및 여가만족도와의 관계를 분석하여 스쿠바 다이빙의 보급과 해양스포츠의 발전에 기여할 수 있는 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 1년 이상 스쿠바 다이빙 활동에 참여하고 규칙적으로 다이빙 활동을 하고 있는 249명의 다이버를 피험자로 선택하였다. 수집된 설문 결과를 토대로 빈도분석, 일원변량분석, t-test와 상관관계 등의 분석을 통하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 먼저 수입과 나이는 다이빙에 참여하는 외적동기에 의미 있는 차이를 보이는 요인이었다. 또한, 수입은 내적동기의 요인에서 차이를 보였으나 여가 만족도에서는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 둘째로 외적동기는 참여 빈도에서는 차이를 보였으나 내적동기와 여가 만족도에서는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 셋째로 다이빙의 유형에서는 집단 간에 차이를 보이지 않았으며 수중 사냥, 채집, 사진촬영의 다이빙에서도 집단 간의 운동동기에 차이를 보이지 않았다. 다만 교육수준, 사회적/환경적 지위에서는 집단 간에 유의한 차이를 보였다.

The purpose of this study is to offer the practical research data for desirable rearing of scuba divers and developing of marine sports by analyzing sport motivation and leisure satisfaction of scuba diving manias. 249 subjects who had more than 1 year of scuba diving activity, and does scuba diving regularly in a year were surveyed among the members and non-members of active scuba diving club in this study. The reliability analysis, frequency analysis, one-way ANOVA, independent sample t-test, correlation analysis were used and the following results were acquired from the analyses. First, the income and age had meaningful difference in the extrinsic motivation. Also income had meaningfully difference in the intrinsic motivation, but the subjects had no difference in leisure satisfaction. Second, extrinsic motivation had meaningfully difference in the activity frequency, but intrinsic motivation and leisure satisfaction had no difference. Also sport motivation and leisure satisfaction had no difference in activity career. Third, no differences have been found meaningfully in diving style. Also submerged hunting, collecting, and photographing had no difference in sport motivation, but educational, social, and environmental parts had meaningfully difference.
