본 연구는 일반 중학생들이 자신의 지각된 신체적 유능감을 평가할 때 사용하는 신체적 유능감 정보를 알아보기 위한 척도를 개발하고, 그 척도에 대한 타당성과 신뢰성을 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 이 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 세 단계의 연구과정을 거쳤다. 첫째, 예비판 설문지를 제작하기 위해, Horn, Glenn과 Wentwzell(1993)의 PCIS(Physical Competence Information Scale)와 개방형 설문자료(103명)를 비교․검토하여 한국의 청소년들에게 적합한 신체적 유능감 정보 문항을 제작하였다. 둘째, 예비판 설문지를 이용하여 수집된 자료(545명)를 통해 최종판에 포함될 문항을 선정하였다. 셋째, 32문항을 포함하는 최종판 설문지의 요인구조 적합성을 검증하기 위해 새로운 자료(883명)를 수집하고 분석하였다. 총 1531명의 학생이 연구에 참여하였으며, 수집된 자료는 귀납적 범주분석(개방형 설문자료), 기술적 통계, 탐색적/확인적 요인분석, 상관분석, 신뢰도 검사(Cronbach's α와 검사-재검사)등을 통해 분석되었다. 결과적으로 본 연구를 통해 한국의 일반학생들의 신체적 유능감 정보를 측정하는 32문항을 포함하는 척도가 개발되었으며, 이 척도에 대한 신뢰성과 타당성이 검증되었다. 이러한 결과는 PCIS(SCIS)의 선행연구와 관련지어 비교․논의하였다.
The purpose of this study was to develop and verify the Korean version of Physical Competence Information Scale in middle school students(KPCIS). The mixed methodology of qualitative and quantitative research methods was applied. The PCISA was made from information sources based on the comparison of open-ended questionnaire with the cross-cultural translated PCIS (Horn et al., 1993). Participants were 1531 middle school students: the open-ended questionnaire (103 students), the exploratory factor analysis (545 students), and the confirmatory factor analysis (883 students). EFA and CFA on the KPCIS identified seven information factors with 32 items: feedback/effort, vicarious experience, internal information/skill improvement, performance satisfaction, outcome/praise, peer comparison, and winning/sports interest. The reliability of the scale appeared to be satisfactory with good internal consistency and test-retest stability. The validity of the scale was ascertained through critical ratio, regression weight, and the correlation of seven factors invested by factor analysis.
