A comparison of the effects between music element focused singing activity and expression-centered singing activity on young children's music ability, perceptual-motor ability and language ability.
The purpose of this study was to compare the effects between Music element focused singing activity and Expression-centered singing activity on young children's music ability, perceptual-motor ability and language ability. Thirty-two young children were included in this study as the subjects, and their average age was 54.88(SD=4.35) months. Experimental group and comparison group were selected randomly. Experimental group was applied in the music element focused singing activity and comparison group was applied in the expression-centered singing activity. 'Music aptitude test', 'Perceptual-motor ability test' and 'Acceptance expression language test' were used in collection of data, and t-test for analyzing them. As the Results, the scores of the experimental group's music activity and perceptual-motor ability were significantly higher than the scores of the comparative group. On the other hand, it was found that the scores of the comparative group's expression-langage ability included in sub-factors of langage ability was significantly higher than the scores of the experimental group. The results of this study suggest that music element focused singing activity is more effective for developing young children's music ability and perceptual-motor ability than expression-centered singing activity, but that expression-centered singing activity can improve expression-langage ability compared to music element focused singing activity.
