본고는 ｢한국교회사학회지｣에 수록된 아시아교회사와 관련된 논문을 분석하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 창간호부터 53권까지 총 425편의 연구논문 중 7.3%인 31편이 아시아교회사와 관련되는데, 여기에는 한국교회사와 관련 된 6편의 논문도 포함되어 있다. 아시아교회사를 시리아교회, 가톨릭교회, 개신교회로 분류할 때, 상대적으로 아시아 가톨릭교회와 관련된 논문이 매우 적었다(2편). 또한 중국과 일본을 제외하면, 고대시리아교회와 관련된 논문 2편과 필리핀과 버마와 캄보디아에 대한 논문이 3편만 수록되어 아시아 각 지역의 교회사 연구는 매우 미진하다. 그럼에도 2011년까지의 국내에서의 아시아 교회사 연구를 정리한 논문이 수록된 것은 획기적이라고 평가할 수 있다. 결론에서 본고는 아시아교회사 연구의 중요성을 강조하고, 아시아기독교사학회의 협력, 한중일 삼국의 개신교 수용에 대한 집중적인 연구, 문명교류의 입장에서 총체적이고 다면적인 아시아 교회사 연구, 한국 교회의 아시아 선교 역사에 대한 체계적인 사료 수집을 제안하였다.

This study is designed to analyze the articles published by the Journal of Church History Society in Korea. There exist 31 articles related to Asian Church History out of 425 articles printed in this journal from voulme 1 to volume 53, and these include those relevant to the Korean Church History. If we understand the history of Asian Church as consisting of Syriac Church, Asian Catholic Church, and Asian Protestant Church, studies concerning Asian Catholic Church is significantly underrepresented (2 articles). Furthermore, since two articles explore Ancient Syriac Church and since three examine churches of Philippines, Myanmar, and Cambodia, it is concluded that a tiny number of studies deals with church history of countries other than China and Japan. The article devoted to analysis of the studies on Asian church up to 2011, however, is quite inspiring and foundational for future studies in this field. In conclusion, this study stresses the significance of Asian Church History, and suggests the intimate relationship with the Society of History of Asian Christianity, a comparative study on acceptance of Christianity of Korea, China, and Japan especially in the modern period, a comprehensive and multilateral study from the civilizational exchange, and finally systemic gathering of records of Asian mission initiated by Korean missionaries.
