M.H.아브람스는 미국의 유명한 현대 문학 이론가이자 비평가이다. 아브람스는 그의 대표 저서 <거울과 램프>에서 문학 평가에 대하여 작품, 우주, 작가가, 독자로 이루어진 4요소 평가 모듈을 삼각관계를 통하여 서술하였다. 지금까지도 문학 비평 학계의 필독서이자 “권위적 비평의 표준”으로 알려진 4요소 평가 모듈은 예술작품의 평가에도 자주 적용된다. 또한, 많은 영역에도 적극적인 활용이 가능한 이 모듈은 디지털 아트의 교차 중첩된 공간과 흡사하여 본질적인 분할을 통한 새로운 모듈을 탄생시킨다. 다양한 그래픽 툴과 프로그래밍 언어가 발달하면서 미술가가 작품 제작부터 전시까지 활용할 수 있는 기술을 쉽게 확보할 수 있게 되었다. 디지털과 아트의 융합, 과학기술과 예술의 합작이라고 정의할 수 있는 디지털 아트는 특수한 성질을 가지고 있다. 특수한 성질을 가지고 있는 만큼 이에 따른 평가시스템도 그 특성에 맞게 설정되어야 한다. 본 논문은 디지털 아트의 특성에 맞추어 아브람스 4요소 평가 모듈을 분할하고 확장을 하였다. 세계(우주)의 분할, 작품의 분할, 작가의 분할 및 감상자의 분할로 얻은 진실 세계와 가상세계, 진짜의 나와 가상의 대역, 작품 초기와 작품 후기, 예술 가와 참여자의 복합적인 관계를 뫼비우스띠 모양의 새로운 평가 모듈로 기존 모듈의 한계를 넘어서 더욱 정확하고 디지털 아트의 특성에 부합되는 평가 모듈을 도출하였다. 또한 전형적인 사례를 통하여 도출한 평가 모듈의 가능성을 알아보았다. 이는 끊임없이 변화를 거듭하는 디지털 아트의 미래를 위한 현실적인 평가 패러다임이 될 것이다.

Abrams described the four-factor evaluation module, which is composed of works, universes, writers, and readers, in his representative book, The Mirror and Lamp. Until now, the four-factor evaluation module, known as the must-read of literary criticism academia and the "standard of authority criticism," also frequently applies to the evaluation of works of art. In addition, this module, which can be actively utilized in many areas, resembles the cross-overlaid space of digital art, creating a new module through essential segmentation. With the development of various graphic tools and programming languages, artists can easily acquire skills that can be used from production to exhibition. Digital art, which can be defined as the fusion of digital and art, and the collaboration of science and technology and art, has a special nature. As it has a special nature, the corresponding evaluation system should also be set up to suit its characteristics. This paper divided and expanded the Abrams Four Element Evaluation Module to suit the characteristics of digital art. The real world and virtual world obtained through the division of the world (space), the division of works, the division of the author and the division of the appreciator, the real and virtual band, the early and later works, and the composite relationship between the artist and the participant are new evaluation modules that go beyond the limits of the existing module and produce more accurate and appropriate evaluation modules that conform to the characteristics of digital art. In addition, the possibility of the evaluation module derived through typical cases was examined. This will be a realistic evaluation paradigm for the ever-changing future of digital art.
