본 논문에서는 분리와 통합의 관점에서 키프로스 분쟁과 분리, UN 키프로스 완충지대 문제를 분석하였다. 특히 본고에서는 기존의 분단과 통일 관점에 대비한, 분리와 통합 관점, 키프로스의 분리 유형과 통합안 에 영향을 미치는 내부 및 외부의 힘 그리고 DMZ와 관련된 정치·안보 및 사회·경제 상황에 관한 분석을 시도하였다. 키프로스의 분리는 내부 이민족 간 갈등에 따른 내쟁형 갈등과 영국-그리스-터키가 매개된 국제 형 갈등이 복합화된 원인으로 작용하였다. 독립 이전은 물론 이후까지 영국의 간섭은 지속되었고, 키프로스 문제에 깊숙이 연계되었다. 키프로 스 갈등이 격화되면서 1964년 UN안보리 186호 채택 후, 미국이 관련국에 대해 평화적 해결을 촉구하였다. 키프로스 사례를 통해, 본 논문에서는 분리와 통합의 관점을 제시하였다. 이는 분리의 역사성 그리고 통합 의 당위성을 배제하고, 통합해야 할 목표를 경제적, 복리적, 안보적 이익 에 목표를 두고 점진적 통합 방식에 관해 논의해 나아가는 과정에 관한 점진적 접근이라 하겠다.

In this paper, the Cyprus conflict and the United Nations Buffer Zone in Cyprus are analyzed from the perspective of division and reunion. In particular, this paper analyzed the division and reunion perspectives, types of separation, internal and external forces exerted on the divided countries, and the political, security, and socio-economic conditions related to the DMZ in preparation for the existing perspectives of division and unification. In the division of Cyprus, internal conflict and international conflicts mediated by Britain-Greece-Turkey acted as a complex cause. As the conflict in Cyprus intensified, UN Security Council No. 186 was adopted in 1964, after which the United States urged the concerned countries for a peaceful resolution. The case of Cyprus can provide a perspective of division and reunion. This is a gradual approach to the process of discussing the gradual reunion method, excluding the historicity of division and the necessity of reunion, and setting the goals to be integrated in economic, welfare, and security interests.
