위젠(于堅. 1954∼)은 1980년대 중국 시단에 출현한 ‘3세대(第三代)’를 대표하는 시 인 가운데 하나이다. 그는 80년대 중반 그들(他們) 그룹으로 활동하면서 담담한 구 어체로 평범한 일상을 담아낸 시를 선보이며 ‘3세대’의 창작에 많은 영향을 미쳤다. 문화대혁명이 끝나기 전까지 중국시는 오랫동안 정치 이데올로기와 집체주의적 사고 에 의해 지배되었던 탓에 일상의 아주 평범하고 사소한 일과 감정을 시화(詩化)하는 것은 그 자체로서 사회정치적 프레임을 벗어던진 시적 실험이자 혁명이었다. 위젠의 1980년대 작품은 ‘3세대’ 시가운동(詩歌運動)과 그 흐름을 같이 하면서 다양한 시적 (詩的) 실험을 통해 자신만의 독창성을 확보해가는 모습을 보여준다. 나아가 80년대 위젠의 시적 실험들은 중국 당대시 창작에 새로운 가능성을 제시하며 시의 미학(美 學) 영역을 확장시켰고, 90년대 시 창작에 경험적 바탕을 제공하게 된다.

Yu Jian(于堅. 1954∼) is one of the representative poets of the ‘The 3rd Generation’ that appeared in Chinese poetry in the 80s. While working as a member of Tamen(他們) in the mid-80s, he had a great influence on the creation of ‘The 3rd Generation’ poetry by presenting poems expressing ordinary daily life in a calm, colloquial way. Yu Jian Poetry’s avant-garde character comes from the overwhelming ideology of everyday life. In order to express the truth of life, Yu Jian’s poetry chooses everyday life. The poetic truth with socio-political critique is accompanied by humor. It must be humorous to avoid a political crisis. His poetry moves toward the depiction of natural landscapes because of his persistence in pursuing poetic truth amidst the overwhelming political pressure. In this sense, the key to the study of Yu Jian poetry is to connect the everyday sanctions of Yu Jian poetry and its poetic process with avant-garde. It is also due to this that his humor should be viewed as a technique to escape socio-political criticism. Yu Jian’s poetic experiments in the 80s opened up new possibilities for contemporary Chinese poetry and expanded the field of aesthetics of poetry, and provided an empirical basis for poetry creation in the 90s.
