본 연구에서는 지속가능한 코칭학을 ‘사회와의 적극적인 상호작용 속에서, 코 칭의 독자적 발전 및 사회적 공공성의 조화를 추구하는 학적 체계’로 정의하고, 지속 가능한 코칭학 구축을 위한 방안을 살펴보고자 했다. 이를 위해 그동안의 코칭 분야 연구 성과 및 코칭학 발전을 위한 연구자들의 제언을 분석하고 종합 하였다. 코칭 분야의 연구는 2000년대 초반 코칭이 국내에 도입된 이후로 꾸준한 양 적 성장을 보였다. 또한 다양한 학문 영역에서 코칭 관련 연구가 발표되었으며, 코칭의 특정 분야를 상세히 다루는 연구는 다소 비중이 적었음을 파악할 수 있 었다. 연구 주제에 있어서는 코칭의 효과 검증이나 변인 관련 연구 비중이 높게 나타났던 반면, 기초 이론에 대한 연구 비중이 낮음이 보고되었다. 연구 대상과 방법에 있어서는 기업 관련 인원을 연구 대상으로 한 연구들이 가장 많았다는 점, 양적 연구의 비중이 질적 연구에 비해 현저히 높았다는 점 등을 확인할 수 있었다. 이에 따라 기존의 연구자들은 연구 주제의 다양화 및 시의성 확보, 코칭에 대 한 기초 이론 연구 확대, 사회 문제와 연관된 연구 대상의 다각화, 새로운 연구 방법론 도입의 필요성 등을 주요한 과제로 제기했다. 이 같은 연구성과를 바탕 으로 본 연구에서는 지속 가능한 코칭학 구축을 위하여 코칭학과 동양 철학과의 학제 간 연구의 필요성, IPA와 같은 새로운 연구 방법의 지속적 도입, 사회적 이슈에 밀접하게 대응한 연구 수행을 후속 과제로 제시하였다.

In this study, sustainable coaching science is conceptualized as an academic framework aiming to harmonize coaching's autonomous development with its social and public relevance. The study's objective is to develop methods for establishing sustainable coaching science, involving an in-depth analysis of the field's empirical contributions and scholarly suggestions. Since its introduction in South Korea in the early 2000s, coaching has exhibited quantitative growth and diverse academic attention. Research has primarily focused on empirical validations of coaching's effectiveness and variable-centric studies, with less emphasis on foundational theories. Quantitative studies, especially targeting corporate personnel, have been more prevalent than qualitative approaches. Scholars have emphasized the need for diversifying research themes, enhancing theoretical foundations, and adopting innovative methodologies. This study suggests the necessity of interdisciplinary research between coaching science and Eastern philosophy, continuous adoption of novel methods like interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA), and research closely aligned with current social challenges, to lay the groundwork for sustainable coaching science.
