본 연구는 베이비부머 가구의 사회적 배제를 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 여기서 사회적 배제는 필수소비재, 사회적참여비, 교육비, 의료비, 주거관련비의 소비로 한정하여 보았 다. 이를 위하여 2013 복지패널 데이터를 활용하여 베이비부머 1,186가구를 조사대상 으로 이용하였다. 연구결과, 소비영역별 배제율은 교육비(57.0%), 의료비(47.2%), 사 회적참여비(30.3%) 순으로 나타났다. 소비배제 여부를 보면, 가구주 유배우자와 월평 균총소득이 높을수록 필수소비재를 비롯한 사회적참여비, 교육비, 주거관련비가 배제를 받지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 소비배제를 받는 대상자의 소비배제 심도는 월평균총소득 이 높을수록 교육비를 제외한 모든 영역에서 배제심도가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 베이비부머가 일자리를 유지하도록 준비하되, 단순하고 신체적인 일자리로 한정하는 것 이 아니라 은퇴 전 업무와 연결될 수 있는 직종을 개발하고, 급여체계 또한 개발이 필 요하다.

This study statistically analyzes the social exclusion of the baby boomer households from the Korean society in terms of expenses from four major areas ; social participation, educational, medical, and housing. Using panel data from the Korea Welfare Study in 2013, the result of this study shows that the sampled 1,186 households are excluded socially in order of frequency as follows; educational expenses(57.0%), medical expenses(47.2%), social participation expenses(30.3%). This study also shows the higher the average monthly income of householder, the less the depth of the social exclusion. The same effect are to the Married group. Only the exception is the educational expenses which are not likely to be influenced by the income level. These findings expect to give meaningful insights to policy makers to understand more clearly the needs for the baby boomers’ stable lives by preparing measures that would allow them to secure jobs after retirement. The results confirms that policy alternatives should be focused on offering post-retirement careers similar to those in their previous workplaces rather than just simple labouring works. This study also finds the necessity of developing a new wage system that would provide baby boomers with sufficient monthly payments.
