하나님은 출애굽의 구속적 정의를 통해 이스라엘을 선택하시고 그들과 정서적 연대를 형성하신다. 이러한 정서적 연대는 이스라엘에 하나님 백성 공동체로서 ‘마음의 할례’라는 근본적인 변화를 요청한다. 하나님의 긍휼과 정의를 경험한 이스라엘은 이웃과의 정서적 연대를 통해 하나님 백성을 재구성하고 확장하는 하나님의 선교에 참여할 사명에 붙들려 있다. 고통에 답하는 하나님의 선교를 보여주는 신명기 10:12-22은 하나님의 선교의 중요한 담론인 ‘주변부’와 연관하여 인간의 불의와 탐욕에 의해 ‘타자화’되고 ‘계층화’된 고통의 희생자들을 직시하게 한다. 주변화된 이스라엘을 선택하신 하나님의 선교는 하나님 의 사랑 공동체가 온 우주에 무한히 확장되는 것을 예표적으로 보여주는 증언이자 세상의 상처를 치유하는 종말론적 과제와 도전이다.

God chose Israel through the redemptive justice of the Exodus and established an emotional solidarity with them. This emotional solidarity calls for a fundamental transformation in Israel as a community of God’s people, the ‘circumcision of the heart.’ Having experienced God’s compassion and justice, Israel is called to participate in God's mission to reconstitute and expand God’s people through emotional solidarity with their neighbors. Deuteronomy 10:12-22, which shows God’s mission in response to suffering, confronts the victims of suffering who have been ‘otherized’ and ‘stratified’ by human injustice and greed in connection with the ‘Margins,’ which is an important discourse of God’s mission. God’s mission of choosing the marginalized Israel is a symbolic testimony that God’s community of love expands infinitely throughout the universe, and is also an eschatological task and challenge to heal the wounds of the world.
