본 연구는 베이비부머 은퇴자를 대상으로 사회적 지지가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하여, 은퇴자의 사회 적 관계망과 성공적 노후를 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 연구는 2025년 6월 1일부터 7월 30일까지 S시와 K군에 거주 하는 베이비부머 은퇴자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 총 260부 중 불성실 응답 16부를 제외한 244부를 최종 분석에 활용하였다. 측정도구로는 선행연구에서 개발·활용된 사회적 지 지 척도(25문항)와 삶의 만족도 척도(16문항)를 사용하였고, 수 집된 자료는 SPSS 26.0 프로그램을 이용하여 빈도분석, 요인분 석, 신뢰도 분석, 기술통계, 상관분석 및 다중회귀분석을 실시하 였다. 연구결과, 첫째 사회적 지지 수준이 높은 은퇴자는 삶의 만족도가 유의하게 높았다. 둘째, 사회적 지지의 하위 요인 중 정서적 지지와 평가적 지지가 삶의 만족도에 가장 큰 영향을 미 쳤다. 셋째, 인구사회학적 특성에 따라 사회적 지지와 삶의 만족 도 수준에서 부분적인 차이가 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 은퇴자 의 삶의 만족도를 높이기 위해 정서적 교류와 사회적 인정이 중 요한 요인임을 보여준다. 따라서 지역사회와 복지기관은 은퇴자 들이 다양한 사회적 관계망을 형성하고 유지할 수 있도록 정서 적·사회적 지원 프로그램을 강화할 필요가 있다. 특히 본 연구는 기존 연구가 주로 일반 노인을 대상으로 하거나 특정 집단에 국 한된 것과 달리, 베이비부머 세대라는 세대적 특수성에 주목하였 다는 점에서 차별성을 가진다.

This study empirically analyzed the effect of social support on life satisfaction among baby boomer retirees, aiming to provide foundational evidence for strengthening retirees’ social networks and promoting successful aging. A survey was administered from June 1 to July 30, 2025, to baby boomer retirees residing in S City and K County; of 260 collected questionnaires, 244 valid responses were used for analysis after excluding 16 insincere cases. Measurement instruments included a 25-item social support scale developed in prior studies and a 16-item life satisfaction scale adapted from a quality-of-life measure. The data were analyzed with SPSS 26.0 using frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression. Results showed, first, that higher levels of social support were associated with significantly greater life satisfaction. Second, among the subdimensions of social support, emotional support and appraisal support exerted the strongest effects on life satisfaction. Third, levels of social support and life satisfaction differed partially by socio-demographic characteristics. These findings indicate that emotional exchange and social recognition are crucial for improving retirees’ life satisfaction. Accordingly, local communities and welfare institutions should strengthen emotional and social support programs that help retirees build and sustain diverse networks. Distinctively, unlike prior work that focused mainly on the general older population or specific subgroups, this study underscores the generational specificity of baby boomer retirees within the Korean context.
