본 연구는 이민자 밀집 지역 직접 접촉이 다문화 수용성과 진로 계획 에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 확인해 보는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2023년과 2025년, 두 차례에 걸쳐 ‘다문화사회 전문가’ 과정을 이수하고 있는 26명의 연구 참여자와 안산시 원곡동을 방문하고 조사 연구를 실시 하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 일회적인 직접 접촉만으로도 이민자에 대한 인식 과 태도에 변화가 촉발되며, 둘째, 현장 접촉 이후에 다문화사회 전문가 의 역할에 대해 실제적으로 인식하게 되어 진로 계획에 도움이 될 수 있 음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 연구는 표본이 많지 않아 결과를 일반화하기 에는 어려움이 있으나 ‘이민·다문화 현장실습’이 필수적으로 운영되지 않 는 현재의 상황에서 현장 접촉은 유의미한 경험이 될 수 있음을 밝혔다 는 점에서 의미가 있다. 따라서 다문화 현장에서 일하고자 하는 이들에 게 현장 접촉 기회를 확대하고, 메타버스(Metaverse)와 같은 가상 공간 활용 및 온라인 교육과정 구축 등을 통해 전문가로서의 역량을 키워나 갈 수 있도록 지원해야 할 것이다.

This study aimed to examine the impact of direct contact with immigrant-dense areas on multicultural acceptance and career planning among students. To achieve this goal, a survey was conducted twice in Wongok-dong, Ansan City in year 2023 and 2025 with 26 participants part of the “Multicultural Specialist Program”. The outcome of the survey have found the following results. First, even a single, direct contact can lead to changes in perceptions and attitudes towards immigrants. Secondly, field contact can foster a practical understanding of the role of multicultural experts, which can contribute to their own career plan. Although it is difficult to generalize the findings of this study due to the limited sample size, it demonstrates the value of field contact in the current context where “immigrant and multicultural field training” is unavailable. Therefore, it is important to expand opportunities for those seeking to work in multicultural settings by providing on-site contact and support them in developing their professional capabilities through the use of virtual spaces like the Metaverse and the development of online training courses.
