한우 농가의 축사 면적에 따른 분뇨 및 퇴비 관리 실태 분석
This study examined the current status of manure and compost management on Hanwoo farms, considering barn area, to identify management characteristics and practical problems related to farm s ize. We surveyed 60 Hanwoo f arms u sing q uestionnaires from March t o Jul y 2025. Statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test. The most common manure collection i nterval was t hree t o six m onths, w ith no s tatistical l y significant d ifferences a cross b arn area groups. Manure was primarily stored in composting sheds within the farm or inside cattle barns. Internal barn storage w as m ore preval ent on small er farms, t hough this d ifference was not significant. M ost farms managed manure treatment independently. Composting was mainly conducted through simple piling or manual turning. Simple piling was more c ommon on farms with barn areas o f 900 t o 1,499 m², while manual turning was more frequent on larger farms. The typical composting period was three to six months, and many farms turned the compost more than twice before shipment, although a considerable number performed no turning. Compost temperature was neither measured nor recorded on most farms, primarily due to a lack of knowledge about recording methods, low awareness of management necessity, and the absence of rel ated equipment. These resul ts indicate some descriptive d ifferences in management patterns based on barn area, despite most comparisons not being statistically significant. The findings suggest that technical support may need to be tail ored to farm s ize. For smal l and medium-sized farms, improvements in compost turning, storage conditions, and temperature monitoring may be necessary. Larger farms may require more regul ar recording and management, though no s ignificant d ifference was found in this regard. This information may be valuabl e for future l ivestock manure management policies and for guiding field-oriented technical support.
