Translation and Validation of the Korean Version of the Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire-Revised (KMSQ-R)
Purpose: This study aimed to translate the revised Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire (MSQ-R) into Korean and evaluate the validity and reliability of the Korean version (KMSQ-R) among clinical nurses. Methods: A methodological study was conducted with 261 clinical nurses in Korea. Construct validity was evaluated using exploratory factor analysis. Concurrent validity was examined using the Korean Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire (K-MSQ), and discriminant validity was assessed using a bioethical awareness scale. Reliability was evaluated using Cronbach’s α and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results: Exploratory factor analysis identified a three-factor structure that differed from the original version. Concurrent validity was confirmed through a significant correlation with the K-MSQ (r=.46, p<.001) and discriminant validity was supported (r=.03, p=.63). The KMSQ-R demonstrated acceptable internal consistency (Cronbach’s α=.74) and test-retest reliability (ICC=.67). Conclusion: The KMSQ-R is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing moral sensitivity among Korean clinical nurses. Its concise structure supports its practical application in clinical practice, ethics education, and future research.
