An Integrative Study of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Principles of Cold-Heat-Dryness-Dampness Regulation and Modern Somatics: Toward a Theoretical Framework for the CDRN System (Soma Code)
This study proposes and theoretically validates a novel multidimensional model for quantifying somatic regulatory states, termed the "Soma Code: CDRN System," by integrating the classical regulatory principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)-specifically Cold-Heat (寒熱) and Dry-Moist (燥濕)-with contemporary somatic neuroscience. The CDRN System structures the homeostatic regulatory capacity of organisms along four functionally independent axes: thermal metabolism and autonomic regulation (Cold-Heat; C-H), fluid homeostasis and tissue hydration (Dry-Moist; D-M), structural tension and fascial elasticity (Rigid-Soft; R-S), and neural sensory processing and response resolution (Nimble-Unresponsive; N-U). Employing integrative literature review and conceptual frameworkbuilding methodologies, the study establishes the functional irreducibility of each axis through counterexample reasoning and a direct-sum formalization ( = ⊕ ⊕ ℛ ⊕ ). A theoretically grounded weighting scheme, derived from neurophysiological literature including Polyvagal Theory and allostatic load research, is introduced to formulate the Somatic Bias Index (SBI). Feedback control theory is further applied to formalize the relationship between interoceptive resolution and self-regulatory capacity. Illustrative case profiles-the Heat-Dry-Rigid and Cold-Moist-Unresponsive types-demonstrate the model's discriminative utility. This study proposes "Precision Somatics" as an emerging paradigm that transcends the subjectivity inherent in conventional somatic education and provides a theoretical foundation for subsequent empirical validation (EFA, CFA, LPA) and expansion into digital healthcare platforms.
