이 연구는 초임 국어교사들이 교직에서 어떤 과정을 통해 성장하는지, 특히 어떤 어려움에 직면 하고 이에 어떻게 대응해 나가는지를 심층적으로 살펴보는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 입직 3년 이내의 초임 국어교사 7인을 연구 참여자로 하여 10개월에 걸쳐 자료를 수집한 후, 이를 질적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 초임 국어교사들은 교육철학의 흔들림을 경험하며 교육철학을 만들어 가는 과정, 정체성의 혼란을 겪으며 점차 정체성을 찾아가는 과정, 학생 학부모, 동료 교사와 관계를 맺어가는 과정을 통해 성장하고 있었다. 초임교사 시기는 교사 성장과 발달에 있어 교직 적응 및 업무의 전문성 신장과 교사 정체성을 형성해 나가기 위한 중요한 시기로, 이 시기의 성장 과정에 대한 상세한 정보를 제공하고 있다는 점에서 이 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 또한 초임 국어교사들이 어떤 어려움에 직면하고, 어떤 생각을 가지고 대응해 나가는지 구체적인 모습을 살펴봄으로써 이들의 올바른 성장을 돕기 위한 교직 적응 프로그램 개발 등 교사교육을 설계하고 실천하는 데 의미 있는 정보를 제공할 수 있으 리라 기대한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine in-depth how beginning Korean teachers mature in their teaching profession. and especially what difficulties they face and how they should cope with them. To this end, seven incipient Korean language teachers who were within three years of beginning their career were selected as the participants for this study and data was collected for ten months and then qualitatively analyzed. As a result of the study, beginning Korean language teachers were developing through the process of creating their own educational philosophy while experiencing the confluence of their learned educational philosophy, along with the gradual process of finding their identity while experiencing the confusion of identity, and the process of establishing relationships with students, parents, and fellow teachers. The period as a beginning teacher is an important time in terms of maturation and development of the teacher for adaptation to the teaching profession. enhancing professionalism of the work, and forming an identity as a teacher. The significance of this study is that it provides detailed information about the growth process during this period. In addition, by checking the concrete aspect about what kind of difficulties the beginning teachers confronted and what kind of thoughts they had when dealing with the problems, abundant information is provided to design and fulfill teacher education such as for the teaching profession adjustment program development, which is to help their professional growth.
