중국 불교의 교육은 불학원을 중심으로 이루어진다. 불학원 교육은 초급 교육과정 에 해당하는 양정반 교육, 중급 교육과정의 중전반과 예과반 교육, 고급 교육과정의 대전반과 본과반 교육으로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 이 가운데 양정원은 기초교육원, 혹은 연수원의 기능을 담당하고 있고, 중전반은 직업고등학교 수준, 예과반은 예과는 4년 제 본과반 진학의 자격을 얻기 위한 고등학교 과정에 해당한다. 고급 교육과정으로 분류되는 대전반은 전문대학 수준이며 본과반은 대학 수준이다. 이중 고등학교 수준 의 중전과 예과의 교육내용은 상호 중복되는 경향이 있고, 대전반과 본과반 역시 중 복되는 내용이 많다. 중전반과 예과반은 소양 교육에 치중하고, 대전반과 본과반에서 는 중국불교의 특징인 종파불교에 대한 전반적 학습을 중심으로 하고 있다.

The curriculum of Chinese Buddhist Academy can be divided into Inlighten education course, Polytechnic school, preparatory course, Junior college & Undergraduate course. There are various differences in education period and content of education in Inlighten education course. In particular, Emeishan Buddhist Academy’s Inlighten education course is drawing attention as it aims to educate the Inter-monk(考察僧) Education Center, which is mandatory and institutionalized. The Polytechnic course is at the level of vocational high school, and the preparatory course is at the level of high school. Education in Junior college course is divided into cases similar to Polytechnic course or preparatory course, similar to Undergraduate, and intermediate. The criterion for classification lies in the proportion of learning about the doctrine of the eight major sects(八宗). The Education of Undergraduate course is characterized by the overall learning of the doctrine of the eight major sects. It is extremely rare to organize a curriculum for Tibetan Buddhism or Hinayana Buddhism. In addition to the Buddhist major course, Buddhist academeies must open a 30% common curriculum. What is particularly important among the common curriculums is the ideological politics curriculum. It can have a decisive impact on students‘ political identity through various institutions.
