한국현대시 번역 활동의 한국어교육적 의미와 과제 : 베트남 대학생의 <사평역에서> 번역 사례를 중심으로 KCI 등재
Significance and Tasks of Korean Modern Poetry Translation Practice in Korean Language Education : A Case Study of Vietnamese University Students’ Translation Results of At Sapyeong Station
모국어와 한국어를 번역하는 능력은 한국어 전공 외국인 학습자들에게 요구되는 핵심 역량이지만 지금까 지 다소 소홀하게 다루어진 경향이 있었다. 이에 본 연구는 외국인 학습자 대상 번역 수업의 내실을 기한다 는 목적에 따라 한국현대시 번역 활동의 한국어 교육적 의미를 확인하고 베트남 대학생의 번역 능력 향상을 위한 교육적 시사점을 도출한다. 번역이란 원문의 의미와 가치에 대한 폭넓은 ‘이해’를 바탕으로 번역문을 ‘집필’하는 작업으로 진행된다. 하지만 이 연구는 논의를 명확하게 하기 위하여 원문 텍스트의 이해가 번역 결과물에 주는 영향력을 확인하고 학습자가 정확하게 번역하게 도울 원문 이해 교육 내용을 도출하는 데에 초점을 맞추었다. 이 연구에서 제시한 시사점은 베트남인 학습자 80명이 <사평역에서>(곽 재구, 1983) 번역한 결과를 분석 고찰한 결과인바, 향후 대학에서 외국인 학습자 대상의 한국어 번역 강의 를 개설할 때 실질적으로 도움이 될 수업 내용을 안내할 것으로 기대한다.
The ability to translate texts from Korean to their own languages is one of the core competencies required of foreign learners of Korean who major in Korean language. However, until now not much attention has been paid to it. This study confirms the educational meaning of Korean modern poetry translation activities and derives educational implications for improving the translation competency of Vietnamese students, in accordance with the purpose of strengthening the substantiality of translation classes for foreign learners of Korean. Translation is work of ‘writing’ translated texts based on a broad ‘understanding’ of the source language. In order to clarify the discussion, this study focused on ‘understanding the source language’ and confirming its influence on translation works and finding the content of education to help learners translate accurately. The implications that this study shows are the results of analyzing the translation works of 80 Vietnamese learners who translated At Sapyeong Station, a poem written by Kwak Jae-gu in 1983,from Korean into Vietnamese. It is expected that this study may give some practical help for Korean translation lectures for foreign learners in the future.
