In this study, we have determined mitochondrial genome of Matsucoccus thunbergianae isolated in Korea. The circular mitogenome of M. thunbergianae is 15,406 bp including 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNAs. AT ratio is 78.2%. Maximum-likelihood and Bayesian inference phylogenetic trees show that M. thunbergianae is clustered with M. matsumurae, and family Margarodidae is clustered with family Pseudococcidae with enough supportive values.
Matsucoccus matsumurae is the main forest insect pest of the Pinus thunbergii and Pinus densiflora in South Korea. In this experiment, we had verified the insecticidal effects of Amitraz, deltamethrin and sulfoxaflor, using ground spraying since the trunk injection has not been greatly effective for the control recently. We divided the methods for three ways to confirm the insecticidal effects by developmental stages. Firstly, in male, only amitraz among the insecticides showed significant mortality. Secondly, in female, none of the treatments showed significant mortality but showed delay synthesize the wax filaments when the amitraz treated. In addition, sulfoxaflor treatment showed significant lower egg production rate. Lastly, in 2nd nymph, all insecticides were not shown insecticidal effect. Above the results shown that the ground spraying of three insecticides for M. matsumurae was not a proper control method.
We report on a unique case of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the cecum, which presented as a subepithelial tumor. A 62- year-old woman with abdominal pain underwent a colonoscopy, resulting in detection of a subepithelial tumor measuring 2 cm in the cecum. We performed a right hemicolectomy with diagnostic and curative intent; histological examination and immunohistochemical staining of the resected tumor indicated a diagnosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The patient achieved complete remission with combination chemotherapy.
