        We map two molecular clouds located in the exact anticenter region emitting in the (J = 1-0) transition of 12CO and 13CO using the 3-mm SIS mixer receiver on the 14-m radio telescope at Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. The target clouds with anomalous velocities of VLSR ~ - 20 km s-1 are distinguished from other clouds in this direction. In addition, they are located in the interarm region between the Orion Arm and the Perseus Arm. Sizes of the clouds are estimated to be about 8.6 and 10.8 pc, respectively. The total mass is estimated to be about 4 x 103 M⊙ using CO luminosity of the clouds. Several cores are detected, but no sign of star formation is found according to the IRAS point sources. Their larger linewidths, anomalous velocities, and their location at the interarm region make these clouds more distinguished, though their physical properties are similar to the dark clouds in the solar neighborhood in terms of mass and size.

        We carry out 100-GHz band test observations with the newly-constructed KVN 21-m radio telescopes in order to evaluate their performance. The three telescopes have similar performance parameters. The pointing accuracies are about 4" rms for the entire sky. The main beam sizes are about 30" (FWHMs), which is nearly the diffraction limit of the telescopes at the observing frequency (97 GHz). The measured aperture and main-beam efficiencies are about 52% and 46%, respectively, for all three telescopes. The estimated moon efficiency is ~84% for the KVN Tamna telescope. The first sidelobes appear 50" (~1.6 xFWHM) from the main beam centers and the levels are on average -14 dB.

        The Pt-Ru/Carbon as an anode catalyst supported on the commercial activated carbon (AC) having high surface area and micropore was characterized for application of Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC). The Pt-Ru/AC anode catalyst used in this experiment showed the performance of 600 mA/cm2 current density at 0.3 V. The borohydride reduction process using NaBH4, denoted as a process A, showed much higher current and power densities than process B prepared by changing the reduction and washing process of process A. The particle sizes are strongly affected by the reduction process than the specific surface area of raw active carbon and the sizes are almost constant when the specific surface area of carbon are over than the 1200 m2/g. Smaller particle size of catalyst and more narrow intercrystalite distance increased the performance of DMFC.

        항해장비 표준화 모드는 안전항해에 필요한 정보들을 신속 정확하게 확인하기 위하여 주요 항해장비의 핵심기능과 화면표시, 작동법등을 표준화하는 기능이다. 국제해사기구는 표준화 모드의 항해장비 적용을 위한 지침 개발을 항해통신수색구조위원회의 과업으로 배정하여 진행 중에 있다. 본 연구는 표준화 모드 적용에 대한 실제 사용자들의 의견과 선호도를 조사하여 지침 개발에 반영하기 위해 수행되었다. 항해장비 중 ECDIS를 대상으로, 항해 업무를 수행하기 위해 필수적 또는 우선적으로 요구되는 정보 및 기능의 종류, 화면 구성, 메뉴트리의 사용자 선호도 조사를 위한 테스트 프로그램을 구성하였다. 웹 기반의 테스트 프로그램을 통해 35개국 333명의 선호도 조사를 실시하였으며, ECDIS 사용자들이 항해당직 수행 시 선호하는 다양한 ECDIS 정보의 내용과 화면배치들을 확인하였다. 연구의 결과는 표준화 모드에 고려할 사용자 요구 사항을 제시하여, 실효성 있는 지침 개발에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

        The circadian clock control of CONSTANS (CO) transcription and the light regulation of CO stability coordinately regulate photoperiodic flowering by triggering rhythmic expression of the floral integrator FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT). The diurnal pattern of CO accumulation is modulated sequentially by distinct E3 ubiquitin ligases, such as HIGH EXPRESSION OF OSMOTICALLY RESPONSIVE GENES 1 (HOS1) in the morning, FLAVIN-BINDING, KELCH REPEAT, F-BOX 1 (FKF1) in late afternoon, and CONSTITUTIVE PHOTOMORPHOGENIC 1 (COP1) at night. In particular, CO is stabilized by FKF1 in late afternoon only under long days. Here, we show that CO abundance is not simply regulated by the E3 enzymes in a passive manner but also self-regulated actively through dynamic interactions between two CO isoforms. CO alternative splicing produces two protein variants, the full-size COa and the C-terminally truncated COb. Notably, COb, which is resistant to the E3 enzymes, induces the interactions of COa with CO-destabilizing HOS1 and COP1 but inhibits the association of COa with CO-stabilizing FKF1. These observations demonstrate that CO plays an active role in sustaining its diurnal accumulation dynamics in Arabidopsis photoperiodic flowering.
