Gonggeom-ji is designated wetland protected area by the Ministry of Environment of Korea in 2011 because of it’s high biodiversity and historic value. It contains a reservoir, paddy and forest site which has diverse niches for insects. Three transect lines of 50m were designated. Data were collected in May, October, November in 2017 represented as seasons for spring, summer and autumn respectively. Quantitative methods were conducted along each transect line by sweeping and pitfall trap. Based on this study total of 1079 individuals of insect fauna were collected, representing 170 species in 60 families and 8 orders. The highest diversity, richness and evenness index were observed in the forest site in May(4.77, 8.6 and 0.91 respectively) and the highest dominance index was observed in the forest site in November(0.64). The highest similarity index was observed in the reservoir site in May and August(0.519).
The family Gracillariidae is known as leafminers because of a characters of mining into leaves in their larval stages. This group generally distributed in all the world except Antarctica, comprising 1,966 described species of 106 genera. In Korea, the family Gracillariidae is known as 3 subfamily, 14 genera of 59 descried species. This study was conducted to report four newly recorded species as follow: Liocrobyla desmodiella Kuroko, Parornix loganella (Stainton), Psydrocercops wisteriae (Kuroko) and Spulerina corticola Kumata. All the available information including their host plants, images for adult and genitalia, patterns of mining and distributional range is provided.
Genus Eupoecilia is one of the group of the family Tortricidae, comprising 37 desciribed species in the world. Among them, 29 species are reported from the Oriental and Palearctic regions. The genus has been well known about the specific biology with showing the larval feeding in the stem or flower of the host plants. In Korea, the genus Eupoecilia are reported with 5 species up to date as follows: E. ambiguella (Hübner), E. angustana (Hübner), E. citrinana Razowski, E. inouei Kawabe, and E. kobeana Razowski. This study was conducted to review the genus Eupoecilia belonging to the family Tortricidae in Korea. In this study, totally, six species of the genus were enumerated with one new species candidate, Eupoecilia koreana sp. nov., on the previous literatures. All available information including synonymies, host plants and distributional ranges for each species is provided.
Genus Cochylidia, belonging to the tribe Cochylini under the family Tortricidae, consists of small-sized moths, which is one of the small group with only 11 described species until now (Brown 2005; Sun & Li 2012). Recently, Brown (2005) listed eight species and one subspecies. Later, three species were added to the genus by Sun & Li (2012) from China. In Korea, Park (1976) reported the genus Cochylidia with three unrecorded species, C. contumescen Meyrick, C. richteriana Fischer von Röslerstamm, and C. subroseana Haworth from Korea. Later, Byun et al. (1996) reported two additional species from Korea: C. heydeniana Herrich-Schäffer and C. moguntiana Rösler. Recently Byun et al. (2017) reported the genus in Korea with two new species, C. flavifasciatus Byun and C. hallasanensis Byun. In this study, we provide the checklist with its external characteristics, localities, and images of adults and genitalia.
The genus Docirava Walker, [1863] belongs to the tribe Chesiadini of the family Geometridae with only 12 described species in the world. The genus could be distinguished from other genera of Chesiadini with the characters, which had been described by walker in original description as follow : “Proboscis slender, rather long….Legs long, very slender; hind tibiae with four rather short and slender spurs”. In this study, the genus Docirava was first recorded with a new species Docirava sp. nov. with DNA barcode. Also, all the available information including images for both of genitalia and adult, wing venation and descriptional study was provided.
The family Epermeniidae is a small group, comprising 188 described species with 11 genera in the world. In Korea, the family Epermeniidae has only one described species, Epermenia strictella (Wocke, 1867) to date. In this study, thenewly recorded genus Ochromolopis Hübner, 1824 was reported with Ochromolopis kaszabi minima Budashkin & Satshkov,1991 which is a subspecies of Ochromolopis kaszabi Gaedike, 1973 for the first time from Korea. For the exact identificationamong the species, the DNA barcode was conducted with a brief phylogenetic tree by COI gene. All the available informationincluding distributional ranges and host plants were provided in this study. Also, The images for adult and male andfemale genitalia were provided for the taxonomic study.
