Struggles in An Ancient City is a modern national opera of counter-Japanese war adapted from the novel of the same name written by Li Yingru. It is one of the most influential operas in the original opera of China in recent years. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of victory of Chinese counter-Japanese war and the world’s anti-fascist war in 2005, general administration opera creates and rehearse the opera. It is adapted from the main plot of the novel to show a story of struggle of our Party in the counter-Japanese war in an ancient city in the north. The paper is based on the VCD version of Struggle in An Ancient City. Through the reference study, analysis and conclusion, the female character in the opera, Jin Huan, is starting point to have a study with the samples of important singing part of Jin Huan, from the creation background to the music features of singing (including analysis of language, phonetics and singing). As to conclusion, there is a brief carding of the thread of the article to explain that factors such as emotion, mood, language are combined with female character’s performance of phonetic form in the Struggle in An Ancient City. Hope that the paper could make vocal enthusiasts to have a more comprehensive knowledge to Jin Huan in the opera.
