본 연구는 지도자의 행동을 측정할 수 있는 변혁적 리더십과 선수들이 지니고 있는 심리적 욕구와의 관계를 규명하고자 하는 목적으로 수행되었다. 이러한 연구 목적에 부합하기 위하여 다양한 종목의 운동선수들을 대상으로 그들의 학년 및 출전형태에 따른 변혁적 리더십 지각과 심리적 욕구 수준의 차이를 다변량 분석을 통해 규명하고, 변혁적 리더십과 심리적 욕구 간 하위요인들의 관계를 중다회귀분석을 통해 알아보았다. 분석 결과 변혁적 리더십 중 카리스마 요인은 심리적 욕구의 자율성과 관계성에 낮거나 중간 정도의 상관을 보였으며, 개인적 배려 요인은 자율성과 유능성에 중간 또는 낮은 수준의 정적상관을 보였고, 지적 자극요인은 자율성과 유능성간의 낮은 상관을 보였다. 이와 같이 변혁적 리더십은 선수들의 심리적 욕구에 정적 상관을 나타냄을 확인할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to know the relationships between transformational leaderships and athletes' psychological needs. This purpose is based on positive correlationship between coaches' behaviour and athletes' psychological needs. Consequently the sports stars of the item which is various in the object their grade, difference of departure for battle form by Transformational leadership and psychological Needs multivariate analysis of variance and examined closely, relationship of Transformational leaderships and the psychological Needs between subordinate multiple regression analysis led and knew and the report person did. This research can be concluded as follows: First, the perception of the charisma as a subordinate factor of reformative leadership had low or mid correlation with autonomy and personal relationships. Second, the perception of caring had also mid or low correlation with autonomy and competence. Third, the perception of intellectual stimulus had low correlation with autonomy and competence. Conclusionally, this research showed that transformational leaderships of coaches had positive correlated with athletes' psychological needs.
