In this paper, the experimental study and finite elements analysis were conducted on homogeneous and dissimilar metals single lap-shear bonded joints to investigate the factor that affect the joint failure load. It was found that factors which have the significant effects on the failure load of the joint was stiffness of the adherends. And from experimental results, it can be confirmed that the failure load increases linearly with overlap length increases. And the failure load of dissimilar metal joints is approximately 1KN(10 ~17%) larger than homogeneous metal joints. In order to confirm this phenomenon, the stress distribution and strain distribution of the specimens were analyzed through the finite element analysis. The difference between homogeneous metals joints and dissimilar metals joints is that stress and strain in adhesive are concentrated at the end of the overlap zone close to aluminium which has lower rigidity than aluminium in case of dissimilar metals joints. From high rigidity of steel, the stress concentration in bonds are decreased and it cause increase of the failure strength at dissimilar metal joints.

In this paper, for a seismic analysis of an offshore subsea manifold, Response Spectrum Analysis(RSA) and Time History Analysis(THA) were conducted under a various analysis conditions. Response spectrum and seismic design procedure have followed ISO19901-2 code. In case of THA, The response spectrum were converted into artificial earthquake history and both of Explicit and Implicit solvers were used to examine the characteristics of seismic analysis. For the verification, Various seismic analysis methods were applied on a single degree of freedom beam model and a simplified model of the actual manifold. The difference between the results of RSA and THA on the simplified manyfold model evaluated for the analysis of the actual manifold. Because THA is impossible in case of real complex structure such as a manifold, Safety of the actual manifold structure was accessed by using the RSA and the difference between the results of RSA and THA from the simplified model.

In this paper, we study the applicability of Tuned Mass Damper(TMD) to improve seismic performance of piping system under earthquake loading. For this purpose, a mode analysis of the target pipeline is performed, and TMD installation locations are selected as important modes with relatively large mass participation ratio in each direction. In order to design the TMD at selected positions, each corresponding mode is replaced with a SDOF damped model, and accordingly the corresponding pipeline is converted into a 2-DOF system by considering the TMD as a SDOF damped model. Then, optimal design values of the TMD, which can minimize the dynamic amplification factor of the transformed 2-DOF system, are derived through GA optimization method. The proposed TMD design values are applied to the pipeline numerical model to analyze seismic performance with and without TMD installation. As a result of numerical analyses, it is confirmed that the directional acceleration responses, the maximum normal stresses and directional reaction forces of the pipeline system are reduced, quite a lot. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic information with respect to the improvement of the seismic performance of the piping system in the future.

In this paper, a low-cost dynamic measurement system using the RGB-depth camera, Microsoft Kinect® v2, is proposed for measuring time-varying free surface motion of liquid dampers used in building vibration mitigation. Various experimental studies are conducted consecutively: performance evaluation and validation of the Kinect® v2, real-time monitoring using the Kinect® v2 SDK(software development kits), point cloud acquisition of liquid free surface in the 3D space, comparison with the existing video sensing technology. Utilizing the proposed Kinect® v2-based measurement system in this study, dynamic behavior of liquid in a laboratory-scaled small tank under a wide frequency range of input excitation is experimentally analyzed.

A bond-based peridynamic model has been reported dynamic fracture characteristic of brittle materials through a simple constitutive model. In the model, each bond is assumed to be a simple spring operating independently. As a result, this simple bond interaction modeling restricts the material behavior having a fixed Poisson’s ratio of 1/4 and not being capable of expressing shear deformation. We consider a state-based peridynamics as a generalized peridynamic model. Constitutive models in the state-based peridynamics are corresponding to those in continuum theory. In state-based peridynamics, thus, the response of a material particle depends collectively on deformation of all bonds connected to other particles. So, a state-based peridynamic theory can represent the volume and shear changes of the material. In this paper, the perfect plasticity is considered to express plastic deformation of material by the state-based peridynamic constitutive model with perfect plastic flow rule. The elastic-plastic behavior of the material is verified through the stress-strain curves of the flat plate example. Furthermore, we simulate the high-speed impact on 3D granite model with a nonlocal contact modeling. It is observed that the damage patterns obtained by peridynamics are similar to experimental observations.

The damage detection method using the extended Kalman filter(EKF) technique has been continuously used since EKF can estimation the responses of the damaged building structure and the stiffness of the structure. However, in the use of EKF, the requirement of setting the initial paramters P, Q, and R has caused the divergence and instability of the state vector, and various researches have been conducted to determine theses parameters. In this paper, adaptive extended Kalman filter(AEKF) method is proposed to solve the problem of setting the values of P, Q, and R, which are important parameters determining the convergence performance of the EKF state vector. By using the AEKF method proposed in this study, the P, Q, and R parameters are updated every k steps. The proposed algorithm is applied for the estimation of stiffness and the damage detection of 3-DOF problem. Based of the verification, it can be found that the selection process for the values of P, Q, and R can improve the convergence performance of EKF.

In engineering problems, many random variables have correlation, and the correlation of input random variables has a great influence on reliability analysis results of the mechanical systems. However, correlated variables are often treated as independent variables or modeled by specific parametric joint distributions due to difficulty in modeling joint distributions. Especially, when there are insufficient correlated data, it becomes more difficult to correctly model the joint distribution. In this study, multivariate kernel density estimation with bounded data is proposed to estimate various types of joint distributions with highly nonlinearity. Since it combines given data with bounded data, which are generated from confidence intervals of uniform distribution parameters for given data, it is less sensitive to data quality and number of data. Thus, it yields conservative statistical modeling and reliability analysis results, and its performance is verified through statistical simulation and engineering examples.

In order to increase the production efficiency of the ship and shorten the production cycle, it is important to evaluate the accuracy of the ship components efficiently during the drying cycle. The accuracy control of the block is important for shortening the ship process, reducing the cost, and improving the accuracy of the ship. Some systems have been developed and used mainly in large shipyards, but in some cases, they are measured and managed using conventional measuring instruments such as tape measure and beam, optical instruments as optical equipment, In order to perform accuracy control, these tools and equipment as well as equipment for recording measurement data and paper drawings for measuring the measurement position are inevitably combined. The measured results are managed by the accuracy control system through manual input or recording device. In this case, the measurement result is influenced by the work environment and the skill level of the worker. Also, in the measurement result management side, there are a human error about the lack of the measurement result creation, the lack of the management sheet management, And costs are lost in terms of efficiency due to consumption. The purpose of this study is to improve the working environment in the existing accuracy management process by using the augmented reality technology to visualize the measurement information on the actual block and to obtain the measurement information And a smart management system based on augmented reality that can effectively manage the accuracy management data through interworking with measurement equipment. We confirmed the applicability of the proposed system to the accuracy control through the prototype implementation.
