Steel is a common structural material that is used for bridges, buildings, railroad tracks, wind towers, offshore platforms, and many other applications. Steel naturally corrodes in different atmospheric environments, which results in costs for corrosion protection, prevention and maintenance. The corrosion on steel elements is identified by optical examination, which does not provide information on the material characteristics. Studies have shown that Raman spectroscopy can identify the corrosion products of steel and differentiate between iron oxides and hydroxides. The purpose of this experiment is to validate the use of Raman spectroscopy in accurately identifying corrosion material on steel without a protective coating.
In this study, the crack detecting system with digital image processing techniques based on the mathematical morphology method was developed to detect cracks in concrete structures. In the developed system, the image combining technique of reconstructing multiple images as an entire single image considering efficient management of analysis results was applied as an additional module.
Recently, Maintenance and inspection of plant are now being actively studied with the development of plant industry. In this paper, A leak detection in piping facilities using thermal imaging camera is proposed. This method was verified by laboratory experiment. In future, Appropriate algorithm will be applied to this method for real time detection and finally applied to the plant that is the ultimate goal of this study.
