        The Japanese pine bast scale, Matsucoccus matsumurae (Kuwana, 1905), is a destructive pest of pine trees in America, East Asia and Northern Europe. The spread of damage to black pine trees, Pinus thunbergii, of M. matsumurae was reported from all southern, and some eastern and west costal regions in Korea, under the name of M. thunbergianae which was newly described by Miller & Park (1987) as a new species. Historically, M. thunbergianae was synonymized with M. matsumurae by Booth & Gullan (2006), on the basis of molecular sequence data. However, the supporting data for the synonym is unavailable in any DNA database, such as GenBank and BOLD. Moreover, M. thunbergianae have been still used to the resent scientific studies in Korea. Here, we performed morphological and molecular comparison to review the result of Booth & Gullan (2006), using M. matsumurae from Fukuoka, Japan and topotype materials of M. thunbergianae from Goheung, Korea. Our data supported the opinion of Booth & Gullan (2006) following results: The morphological features of adult female and male of M. thunbergianae are identical to those of M. matsumurae. Also, DNA sequences (COI, 18S rDNA and 28S rDNA) of M. thunbergianae showed identical or very low genetic distances with those of M. matsumurae. From the regional sampling in Korea, M. matsumurae was newly found in Jeju and Seoul.

        This study reviews concepts, theories and formulas included in standards on soil-structure interaction and also shows practical example of application for engineers. Real structures are 3 dimensional and multi degree of freedom but they are often idealized to single degree of freedom for convenience. In this study, detailed procedures to calculate soil spring constants and damping coefficients and method to model soil-structure system are explained. Additionally, case studies to judge fixed base condition and evaluation of applicability of simple analysis method based on response spectra are performed.

        This study was conducted to investigate the influence of moisture removal using a moisture condensation tube on the odor concentration, when sampling a malodorous substance from an odor discharge facility’s emission sites. For high-temperature and humid gas streams, the odor concentration was decreased through the use of a moisture condensation tube. The multiple odor concentration of the high-temperature and humid gas streams emitted from boiler-burning equipment decreased from a 3,000 to a 1,221 dilution factor when using one or two moisture condensation tube. This multiple odor concentration was further decreased to a 1,000 dilution factor by using two moisture condensation tubes and glass beads, and also was decreased to a 374 dilution factor by using two moisture condensation tubes and silicagel. Among the designated offensive odorous substances, ammonia, trimethylamine and acetaldehyde that have high solubility in water showed high reduction rate of their concentration. Compared to the result using a sampling tube only, the concentration was decreased by 94.8% ~ 97.7% for ammonia, by 87.5% ~ 95.9% for trimethylamine and by 100% for acetaldehyde. The findings of this study indicate that sampling using a moisture condensation tube affects the concentration of multiple odors. Therefore, it is considered that using a sampling tube only for emissions sampling enhances analytical accuracy and precision rather than using moisture condensation tube with sampling tube, even for the emissions containing moisture.

        지리산둘레길 주변의 딱정벌레류의 분포 및 다양성을 분석하였다. 2014년 5월부터 10월 초순 까지 조 사된 딱정벌레종수는 13과 38종이다. 가장 많이 채집된 종은 Harpalidae로 12종이며 다음으로 Carabidae가 10종으로 조사되었다. 개체수가 가장 많이 발견된 종은 Brachinidae로 1,059개체였다. 월 별 개체수는 5월이 332개체, 6월이 560개체, 7월이 501개체, 8월에는 955개체로 가장 많았으며, 9~10 월에는 736개체로 채집되었다. 고도별은 300m에서 474개체, 400m에서 975개체, 500m에서 657개체, 600m 이상에서는 978개체로 채집되었다. 사면별 분포는 남서사면에서 9과 26종 1530개체, 북동사면에 서는 11과 33종 1554개체가 채집되었다. 남서 사면 다양도 지수 2.224(0.966) 균재도 0.683 우점도 0.156이며 북동 사면 다양도 지수 2.079(0.903) 균재도 0.595 우점도 0.240이었다. 남서 사면에서 월 별 다양도 지수는 6월 2.141(0.930), 균재도 6월 0.791 우점도 는 8월 0.324로 가장 높다 북동 사면에 서 월별 다양도 지수는 5월 2.098(0.911), 균재도 5월 0.818 우점도 는 7월 0.451로 가장 높았다. 숲가 꾸기 지역에서 400m, 600m이상 지역의 대조구가 각각 368, 342개체로 많이 채집되었다.

        The efficiency of using 7 indoor plants, which were Chrysalidocarpus lutescens, Ficus robusta, Sansevienria trifasciata, Rhapis excelsa, Scindapusus aureus, Anthurium andraeanum and Pachira aquatica, for B·T·E (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene) removal were assessed at 1200 Lux light intensity in airtight chambers (1.27 m3). Rhapis excelsa, Chrysalidocarpus lutescens and Ficus robusta were among the most effective plants, completely removing for B·T·E within 38 hours, wherease Scindapusus aureus and Sansevienria trifasciata were the lowest in terms of removal efficiency. But when the removal efficiency was measured per unit leaf area (μg·m−3·−2), it was found that Scindapusus aureus, Anthurium andraeanum and Sansevienria trifasciata removed higher amount than Rhapis excelsa, Chrysalidocarpus lutescens and Ficus robusta. Plants with wide leaves and a big leaf area including Rhapis excelsa and Chrysalidocarpus lutescens showed higher removal efficiencies of B·T·E than those with smaller leaves such as Scindapusus aureus. Among the plants tested over 120 hours, the species that emitted the highest levels of CO2, involved with photosynthesis and respiration in plants, Pachira aquatica (11,560 ppm) was emitting 10 times more CO2 than Scindapusus aureus (1,260 ppm).

        The concerns about potential risks and hazards in children’s playgrounds are increasing and the restrictions for environmental harmful substances in playgrounds have been reinforced in many countries. In this study, the concentrations of heavy metals were analyzed in 142 samples including 105 of sand flooring and 37 playing equipment such as swing, slide, sporting equipment, bench and fence in 18 children’s playgrounds. Heavy metals in sand flooring were investigated and categorized by natural environmental factors such as season, rainfall, post-rainy day, and artificial factors as road, type, and material of nearby play equipment. The concentration of heavy metals such as Pb, Hg, Cu, and Zn were significantly higher in sand flooring near the play equipment than at places away from the playing equipment (p < 0.05). Spearman’s rank correlation analysis showed that play equipment had a positive correlation with the sand flooring with regard to the concentration of Pb (r = 0.42, p < 0.01) and Cu (r = 0.39, p < 0.01). The concentration of heavy metals in the sand flooring showed a statistically significant difference depending on the season, post-rainy day, the distance from a roadway, type of equipment, and the material. The play equipment’s heavy metal concentration and other environmental factors contributed to the heavy metal concentration in the sand flooring’s surface in playgrounds.

        In this paper, we developed a Smart Heat Radiating Sheet(SHRS) having the absorption ability of more than 15 dB, and thermal conduction rate more than 20 W/mk for port logistics RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) system by using AMP(Amorphous Metal Powder) and shielding sheet. Firstly, the EM(Electro_Magnetic) wave absorber samples were fabricated by using AMP and CPE (Chlorinated Polyethylene) with different composition ratios of 80 : 20 wt.% and 85 : 15 wt.%, respectively. Secondly, we fabricated the Smart Heat Radiating Sheet using the shielding sheet to attach EM Wave Absorber. As a result, the Smart Heat Radiating Sheet with absorption ability of 16 dB at 433 MHz and thermal conduction rate is 24 W/mk has been developed with the composition ratio of Amorphous Metal Powder : CPE = 85 : 15 wt.% and thickness of 5.5 mm.

        In this paper, the EM wave absorber was developed for the 94-GHz detecting radar system. To analysis an EM wave absorber in millimeter wave band, we fabricated three absorber samples using carbon black and titanium dioxide and permalloy with chlorinated polyethylene. After measuring the complex relative permittivity, the absorption characteristics are simulated by 1D FDTD according to different thicknesses of less than 1.0 mm. Then, the EM wave absorber was fabricated based on the FDTD simulation. As a result, the measured results agreed well with the simulated ones, and the developed EM wave absorber with a thickness of 0.7 mm had the desired absorption characteristics of more than 14 dB in the frequency range of the 94-GHz band.

        This study was performed to investigate the physico-chemical properties and phytoplankton concentration from February to December, 2007 in Gwangju area reservoirs. Water samples from 20 reservoirs were analyzed. As results of the water quality analysis, the average pH was 7.6 and annual pH were 6.3 ~9.6. The higher pH of 8.6 ~ 9.6 were showed from March to August due to eutrophication. Chlorophyll-a concentration ranged from 0.4 to 164.3 mg/㎥. The highest chlorophyll-a concentration was observed in August. BOD was correlated with SS, T-N, and Chlorophyll-a(R=0.82, 0.90 and 0.84) respectively. COD was correlated with BOD, SS and Chlorophyll-a(R= 0.89, 0.77 and 0.76) respectively. The T-N/T-P ratios were 4~281, so phosphorus was considered to be the limiting factor in most of points. The trophic state showed eutrophicate states in Gwangju reservoirs. Therefore it was necessary to monitor continuously. In order to monitor the reservoirs, an algae prediction system must be used.

        6~13 ㎎/L base water concentration on monthly BOD has been kept at the Geukrak bridge point for this research target and it indicates the water quality under the existed rank. Due to this present condition of water quality, the demage of ecology from the upper stream to the lower one of the bridge could be conjectured. Moreover, nonstructural extinction of the ecology seems to have gotten worse between both the streams of Yeoungsan River. On this research, eco-corridor between the upper stream and the lower stream of the river should be ensured, the ecological demage needs to be cut off, a dispersed discharge method which the existed method of the 1st sewage plant in Gwangju was enhanced to should be inducted for the procuring of various water ecosystem, and the conditions by the scenario suggested from this research could be applied to a water quality model. then, analysis the improvement effect of the water quality adjacent the river. From the test result, Case3-Type1 scenario is thought to be the best one. From the test result with Case3-Type1, when the concentrated discharge was never done, 0.07 mg/L of BOD concentration was increased at the lower stream where Yeoungbon B point (Haksan Bridge) is but the water improvement effect of 0.24~2.87 mg/L is thought to have been done at the area of water deterioration.

        The present study investigated runoff characteristics of non-point pollutants and discharge load amount according to the land utilization in Yeinam river basin. The land utilization of target basin was divided into paddy field, dry field, forest, residential area and composition area. The study on the runoff characteristics of non-point pollutants by rainfall-runoff process showed that COD, SS and T-P had the first-flushing effect with relatively high concentration in early-stage of the rainfall-runoff process, but the T-P revealed similar runoff characteristics. Event Mean Concentration(EMC) of BOD and COD according to the land utilization revealed the range of 3.11~15.50mg/L and 3.37~33.42mg/L, and the highest concentration of EMC corresponding to BOD and COD was detected in the paddy field. The EMC of SS showed 1.7~305.02mg/L and it's highest concentration was found in the dry field. The EMC of T-N and T-P represented the highest concentration in the paddy field and dry field with range of 0.91~8.76mg/L and 0.02~0.44mg/L.
