        Various eco-friendly seed disinfection technologies have been developed due to the increase in the global demand for organic food. In order to produce sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural products in Korea, seed disinfection technologies for the production of wholesome seedlings have been researched in diverse ways compared to how they were examined in advanced countries. Both domestically and internationally, the eco-friendly seed disinfection technologies to secure the horticultural crops have been treated by biological or physical methods, such as hot water treatment with ultrasonic disinfection technology, or applying organic agricultural materials like organic acids in plant extracts. However, from a practical perspective, various applied technologies can be implemented in farm fields to disinfect significant agricultural crops, such as lettuce, Chinese cabbage, radish, watermelon, cucumber, paprika, red pepper, ginger, ginseng, and sesame seeds.

        The permanent shutdown of NPPs (nuclear power plants) has been growing steadily around the world. Also, permanent shutdown of old NPPs has been determined following to Kori-1 and Wolsong-1 in the Korea. Among issues of decommissioning of NPPs, especially, the management of radioactive waste is the most sensitive issue. According to IAEA, a large volume of radioactive concrete waste would be generated from decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Also, EC (European commission) expected that about 500 million tons of concrete will be produced in Europe by 2060 due to decommissioning of NPPs. It is known that the radioactive concrete consists of surface contaminated concrete and activated concrete. So, if contaminants from radioactive concretes can be removed using specific technologies, volume reduction of concrete can be achieved. Since there is no experience of decommissioning of NPPs in Korea, it is important to analyze previous cases. In this study, decontamination of radioactive concrete is analyzed through previous studies. Decontamination technologies of concrete are composed of mechanical methods, chemical methods, and thermal methods. Mechanical methods are physical technologies separating contaminants from concrete using scabbling, milling, and vacuum cleaning. In chemical methods, contaminants were removed from concrete using an oxidizing agent/reducing agent, acid/base. Thermal methods are removal technologies using lasers, microwaves, and pulsed power discharge. Some methods still have practical use cases, and further research is needed on the issue of generation of secondary waste. Review on the experience of decontamination of concrete show that waste of concrete generated during decommissioning of NPPs are expected to have effect of large volume reduction. However, many studies are needed because secondary waste and decontamination cost is sensitive issue of concrete generated during decommissioning of NPPs.         Demand for cosmetics with functionality and eco-friendliness has increased dramatically due to recent aging, well-being trends, and increased interest in beauty. Cosmetics production in 2014 was 8,970.4 billion won, an increase of about 50% compared to 6,014.6 billion won in 2010. In the midst of this, similar companies in intense competition are pursuing differentiated strategies and innovation activities to solve quality, price and delivery problems. In particular, cosmetics packaging work is getting more difficult due to the increasing bill of materials (BOM) and difficult assembly methods. Therefore, in this study, the following problems were identified and suggestions for the improvement of the packaging Many research laboratories such as biotechnology, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals, which are undergoing various studies, are equipped with ready-made laboratory safety equipments such as bio-safety workbenches, aseptic bases, and exhaust workbenches. However, most researchers are disadvantaged in using existing safety equipment. This is because existing safety equipment can not take into account all of the unique characteristics of the research. For this reason, researchers are demanding the development of customized safety equipment that is well suited to their research needs. process of Company C, which is facing difficult situation to respond to the customer 's delivery due to the 52 - hour work week. First, we used the stopwatch to find the difficulty process in the packaging process and show ways to improve it. Second, to improve the efficiency of line balancing in the packaging process, we integrate processes, improve work methods, and perform simple automation. As a result, the prepare loss for replacement was reduced by 1 minute from 5 minutes, resulting in a 23% increase in productivity from 112 ea./hour to 137ea./ hour per person. At this time, the LOB of the packaging process was improved from 70% to 82% by operating one more production line through one person per line, total 9 people saving.

        The flow of the 4th Industrial Revolution calls for the innovation of the traditional business models of the manufacturers. Servitization is a corporate strategy to respond to changes in the business environment. These days, the value that the market demands can be created on the basis of the product-service integration. Thus the manufacturers must pursue the fundamental innovation of the current strategy and business models. It is necessary to create common values with customers through providing product-service integrated offerings beyond the development, production, and delivery. The purpose of this study is to develop the evaluation indicators for selecting suppliers when the manufacturer who offers the value of product-service integration needs to obtain the resources from outside. The case company in this study is the manufacture firm conducting the retail IoT business as a new business. The Delphi method is used to develop the evaluation indicators for selecting suppliers. This study suggests the academic implications providing the perspective of Servitizaiton by using Delphi method, and the practical implications applying the creating value method of Servitization by collecting the opinions from both value providers and value consumers in the process of developing the evaluation indicators.

        Fish kill incidents are not rare in the upstream region of the Han River where overall water quality is suitable for supporting a fish community. However, the causes of fish kills are often not identified. In this study we examined the cause of a fish kill in an upstream tributary of the North Han River (Seo Stream, Yanggu County). In the field survey at the time when the fish kill occurred, the results did not indicate any harmful concentrations of heavy metals or toxic pesticides. Instead several tons of gingko (Ginkgo biloba) seed coat wastes were found in the water along the reach of fish kill site. Because gingko is known to be toxic, it was suspected as a cause of the fish kill. Recently gingko production has been increasing in Korea, and it is common practice for farmers to wash the seed coats of seeds in streams because the seed coats are toxic and emit an offensive odor. Toxicity of gingko fruit to humans is well known, but the toxicity to aquatic biota has not been previously reported. We investigated the toxicity of gingko seed coat extract to an invertebrate (Daphnia magna) and a fish (Oryzias latipes). After 48 hours exposure to seed coat extract the EC50 of Daphnia immobilization was 0.35% of a mixture corresponding to a dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentration of 413 mgC L−1. In the fish experiment, the LC50 after 96 hours exposure was 0.4% of the extract mixture corresponding to a DOC of 440 mgC L−1. Thus gingko seed coat is toxic to aquatic animals and gingko washing was the likely cause of the fish kill incident. Our results suggest that gingko seed coat waste should be treated properly and not disposed of in streams.

        In this study, we investigated the effects of indole on biofilm formation inhibition in Pantoea agglomerans (P. agglomerans). In the biofilm growth assay, indole inhibited biofilm formation across all the growth time. Depending on biofilm growth stage, indole exhibited biofilm inhibition and anti-bacterial effects on planktonic cells. Through the analysis of the proportion rate between biofilm and Colony Forming Units (CFU) and inhibition rate of indole, we confirmed that depending on the biofilm stage of P. agglomerans, indole treatment timing was more important than the treatment duration. By comparing gene expression rates through rt-qPCR P.agglomerans affected by indole was found to significantly change quorum sensing (pagI/R) and indole transportation (bssS) gene expressions. Throughout all, indole exhibited both antimicrobial and anti-biofilm effects on P. agglomerans. In addition, we confirmed the anti-biofilm effects of indole on mature biofilm. In conclusion, indole as a signal molecule, can exhibit anti-biofilm effects through bacterial quorum sensing inhibition and indole affects. Therefore, indole can regulate biofilm bacteria especially gram-negative opportunistic pathogens.

        In the industrial wastewater that occupies a large proportion of river pollution, the wastewater generated in textile, leather, and plating industries is hardly decomposable. Though dyeing wastewater has generally been treated using chemical and biological methods, its characteristics cause treatment efficiencies such as chemical oxygen demand (COD) and suspended solids (SS) to be reduced only in the activated sludge method. Currently, advanced oxidation technology for the treatment of dyeing wastewater is being developed worldwide. Electro-coagulation is highly adapted to industrial wastewater treatment because it has a high removal efficiency and a short processing time regardless of the biodegradable nature of the contaminant. In this study, the effects of the current density and the electrolyte condition on the COD removal efficiency in dyeing wastewater treatment by using electro-coagulation were tested with an aluminum anode and a stainless steel cathode. The results are as follows: ① When the current density was adjusted to 20 A/m2, 40 A/m2, and 60 A/m2 under the condition without electrolyte, the COD removal efficiency at 60 min was 62.3%, 72.3%, and 81.0%, respectively. ② The removal efficiency with NaCl addition was 7.9% higher on average than that with non-addition at all current densities. ③ The removal efficiency with Na2SO4 addition was 4.7% higher on average than that with non-addition at all current densities.

        The mother machine makes the necessary shape by processing materials such as metal. The SCFs are applied to the processing surface when the mother machine processes the material, thereby improving the cutting conditions. SCFs contain high concentrations of organic components and nitrogen compounds, which can cause problems such as eutrophication and algae bloom. Therefore, proper treatment is required. Electrochemical treatment is expected to be an alternative to conventional processes, and to be useful in various wastewater treatments. Moreover, it is an efficient elimination technique for contaminants and has a simple equipment composition. In this study, the removal efficiency of the T-N contained in the waste SCF using electrochemical treatment is analyzed. The electrode was made of titanium and iridium, made into a perforated metal sheet to prevent an imbalance of the sample concentration in the reactor. Experiments were conducted to examine the effects of current density and the concentration of the supporting electrolyte (NaCl, Na2SO4) on removal efficiency. In the cases with 60 A/m2, 80 A/m2, and 100 A/m2 current densities, the removal efficiencies of the T-N contained in the waste SCF were 51.03%, 68.83%, and 79.58%. Comparing between the addition and non-addition of NaCl, the removal efficiency with the addition of NaCl (5 ~ 10 mM) was higher than for no addition at 60 min for all current densities. The addition of Na2SO4 increased the removal rate of the T-N, but it was less effective than NaCl addition.

        As industry continues to develop, the amount of various recalcitrant substances that cannot be removed by conventional wastewater treatment has increased in modern society. The SCFs (Soluble Cutting Fluids) used in metalworking processes contain many chemical substances, such as mineral oils, anticorrosive agents, extreme-pressure additives and stabilizers, as well as high concentrations of organics. Recently, electrolysis has been expected to become an alternative to conventional processes and to be useful in various wastewater treatments. Electrolysis is a highly adaptable industrial wastewater treatment method, having a high efficiency, short processing time, and simple equipment composition, regardless of the biodegradable nature of the contaminants. The effects of operating time, current density, and electrolyte on COD removal of waste SCFs have been studied using the stainless steel (SUS316) electrode in a batch type reactor. The results were as follows. ① Without electrolytes, when the current density was adjusted to 40 A/m2, 60 A/m2, and 80 A/m2, the removal efficiencies of the COD were 25.0%, 37.7%, and 49.1% after 60 min, respectively. ② In the comparison between NaCl (5 ~ 10 mM) addition and non-addition, the removal efficiency with NaCl was higher than for without after 60 min for all current densities. ③ In the comparison between Na2SO4 (5 ~ 10 mM) addition and nonaddition, the removal efficiency with Na2SO4 showed no significant difference to that with NaCl at all current densities.

        It is important for radish to have late flowering characteristics especially in the case of spring and winter cultivars. To understand late flowering characteristics of radish at the molecular level the flowering time genes of two radish lines (NH-JS1 and NH-JS2) with different flowering time were compared by re-sequencing their genomes. There were a total of 872,587 SNPs and 194,637 INDELs between the two lines. The SNP density of each chromosome was relatively uniform throughout, but the region with low SNP density was found at the end of R3 and the middle of R9. To compare the flowering time genes of the two lines, we first looked for the flowering time genes in radish using Arabidopsis thaliana flowering time genes. As a result, homologs of radish were found for most flowering time genes, but FRIGIDA was not found. Among 224 radish flowering time gene-homologs found, 97 genes showed more than one sequence difference (SNP or INDEL) between the two lines, and 127 genes had no difference. In particular, no sequence differences were found in FT, CO, and FLC, core flowering time control genes. Rs350520 (FVE), Rs193800 (CURLY LEAF) and Rs255320 (ATX1) with more than 100 sequence variations were expected to have a significant effect on flowering time difference between the two lines. These results will be of great help in understanding the flowering timing difference between the two lines at the molecular level.

        우리나라 경제의 성장을 이끈 기계산업은 2015년 현재 생산액 100조원, 사업체수 9,526개사, 종사자수 31만 5천명, 부가가치 39조원으로써 제조업 중 생산액 5위, 사업체수 2위, 종사자수 3위, 부가가치 4위에 위치하고 있다. 이러한 기계산업에 있어 공작기계를 이용해 금속을 원하는 모양으로 만드는 금속가공은 반드시 필요한 공정으로 금속가공 시 가공 장비의 수명 연장 및 가공물의 품질 향상을 위해 칩이 형성되는 영역에 적용되어 윤활 및 냉각작용을 하는 절삭유(Soluble Cutting Fluids, SCF)가 이용되고 있다. 절삭유는 수용성 및 비수용성으로 나뉘는데 비수용성 절삭유의 경우 윤활성은 우수하나 경제성 및 발연, 발화등의 문제점이 있으며, 수용성 절삭유는 윤활성은 비교적 떨어지나 냉각성과 경제성이 우수하다는 장점이 있다. 또한 절삭유는 기능 향상을 위해 PAH, 방부제, 파라핀계 염소, 아질산염 등 20~30개의 첨가제가 사용된다. 이는 중추신경계 장애, 이비인후 자극, 피부염 발생 등을 일으킬 위험성이 크다고 알려져 있으며, 고농도의 유기성분 및 질소화합물로 인해 수계에 유출시 부영양화, 녹조현상 등과 같은 문제를 일으킬 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 전기화학적 처리를 통해 반응시간에 따른 폐수용성 절삭유의 COD 및 T-N의 제거율 변화를 분석하였다. 전기화학적 처리의 중요 인자인 전극은 비교적 가격이 저렴하고 용출량이 낮은 것으로 알려져 있는 SUS316전극을 이용하였으며 자세한 실험 조건을 Table 1에, 연구에 사용한 장치의 모식도를 Fig. 1에 나타내었다.

        The use of Soluble Cutting Fluids (SCF) is essential in the development of industrial technology. However, it is difficult to decompose biologically due to its high concentrations of organic substances and nitrogen compounds, which interfere with microbial growth. Recently, Advanced Oxidation Processes are being studied both domestically and internationally. Electrolysis is highly adaptable industrial wastewater treatment because it has high removal efficiency and short processing time, regardless of the contaminant’s biodegradable nature. Accordingly, this study shows the characteristics of total nitrogen removal in SCF on the operating time, current density, and electrolytes when using aluminum in a batch-type reactor. The results are as follows: ① Under the condition of without the electrolyte when the current density was adjusted to 40 A/m2, 60 A/m2, or 80 A/m2, the respective T-N removal efficiencies were 71.7%, 80.6%, and 87.2% at 60 min. ② In the comparison for the condition of whether NaCl was added, the removal efficiency of adding NaCl (5 ~ 10 mM) was higher than non-addition at 60 min for all current densities. ③ In the comparison for the condition of whether Na2SO4 (5 ~ 10 mM) was added, the removal efficiency when adding Na2SO4 showed no significant difference compared to non-addition at 60 min for all current densities.

        While adipose-derived stem cell-conditioned medium (ADSC-CM) has been demonstrated to promote skin wound healing, the mechanism regulating this effect remains unelucidated. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of Ell3 in the wound healing activity of ADSC-CM. In vitro analysis revealed that Ell3 suppression in ADSCs impairs the promotive activity of ADSC-CM on the proliferation and migration of mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEF) and normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDF). Consistently, the expression of MMP family genes, which regulate cell proliferation and migration, was significantly suppressed in MEF and NHDF treated with siEll3-transfected ADSC-CM. Proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1 and interleukin-6, were highly expressed in MEF treated with siEll3-transfected ADSC-CM. The wound healing activity of siEll3-transfected ADSC-CM was significantly lower than that of the control in vivo. Our results suggest that Ell3 may contribute to the inhibition of inflammatory response during skin wound healing.

        국내 광공업 중 자동차 제조업, 금속가공제품 제조업 등 금속가공을 필요로 하는 사업체는 전체 광공업 사업체 163,822개 중 40%를 차지하고 있다. 산업혁명 이래 기계 산업은 빠르게 발전해왔으며 기계 산업이 발달한 현대사회에서 금속 가공 공정은 필수적이다. 이러한 금속 가공 과정에서 금속과 금속사이의 마찰을 줄이기 위한 윤활작용, 마찰로 인한 열팽창 및 변형을 막기 위한 냉각작용, 부식 방지를 위한 방청제 역할을 하는 것이 절삭유이다. 절삭유는 일반적으로 수용성과 비수용성으로 분류되며, 비수용성의 경우 작업 중 및 작업 후 발생하는 오일미스트로 인한 유독성 및 발화 위험 등의 문제가 제기됨에 따라 수용성 절삭유의 사용이 점차 증가하여, 국내 절삭유 사용량의 60% 이상을 수용성 절삭유가 차지하고 있다. 하지만 수용성 절삭유에는 아질산염, 방부제 등 20~30개의 화학물질이 포함되어 있다. 또한, 수용성 절삭유에 함유되어있는 질소계 물질들은 수생태계에 방류되면 부영양화 및 녹조 현상과 같은 문제를 일으킬 수 있으며, 수중에서 산화반응을 하여 아질산성 질소와 질산성 질소로 변화되면서 수계의 용존산소를 감소시켜 오염을 일으킬 수 있어 각별한 처리가 필요한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 입상활성탄(Granular activated carbon)을 충진한 충진복극조를 이용해 전기화학적 처리를 통해 수용성 절삭유의 T-N 제거율을 분석하였다. 실험조건은 다음의 Table 1, 실험장치의 구성을 Fig. 1에 간단히 나타내었다.

        In this study, we evaluated the potential of 70% ethanol extract from Persicaria nepalensis (PNE) as a cosmetic ingredient by primary skin irritation, ocular irritation, and maximization tests for delayed hypersensitivity in New Zealand white rabbits and Hartley guinea pig. Skin safety study was performed to evaluate the potential toxicity of PNE using the primary irritation test. In the primary irritation test, 50% PNE was applied to the skin, and no adverse reactions such as erythema and edema were observed at the intact skin sites. Therefore, PNE was classified as a practically non-irritating material based on a primary irritation index of "0.0.". In the ocular irritation test, the 50% PNE applied did not show any adverse reactions in the different parts of rabbit eyes, including the cornea, iris, and conjunctiva. Thus, PNE was classified as a practically non-irritating material based on an acute ocular irritation index of "0.0.". Skin sensitization was tested by the Guinea Pig Maximization Test (GPMT) and Freund's Complete Adjuvant (FCA) using an intradermal injection of 10% PNE. Edema and erythema were not observed 24 and 48 h after the topical application of PNE in skin sensitization test, which exhibited a sensitization score of "0.0.". Therefore, it can be suggested that P. nepalensis could be used as potential candidates for cosmoceutical ingredients, without any major side effects.

        1900년대 초부터 금속 가공 장비의 수명 연장 및 가공물의 품질 향상을 위해 금속 가공 공정에 절삭유가 이용되어 왔다. 금속 가공 특성에 따라 절삭효율 향상을 위해 각종 첨가제를 포함시켜 여러 종류의 절삭유가 제조되고 있으며, 일반적으로 수용성과 비수용성으로 분류된다. 비수용성 절삭유의 경우, 폐유처리과정에서 유독성 물질 발생, 발연・발화 등의 문제로 수용성 절삭유의 사용이 점차 증가해 왔으며, 국내에서 이용되는 절삭유의 60% 이상이 수용성 절삭유이다. 사용된 수용성 절삭유는 비수용성 절삭유와 같이 소각처리 하기에는 비용이 크며, 수계로 유출시 COD 약 30,000~100,000ppm의 고농도 유기성분에 의해 인근 수계를 오염시킬 수 있으므로 각별한 처리가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Ti-IrO2전극을 이용하여 NaCl 첨가, 인가전압 변화를 통해 수용성 절삭유 내 오염물질의 전기화학적 처리에 미치는 영향을 검토하고, 수용성 절삭유의 전기화학적 처리에 대한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 시료는 U사의 W1-1종 수용성 절삭유를 이용하였으며 증류수와 혼합하여 5% 농도의 인공 시료를 제조하였다. 시료의 특성은 Table 1, 실험 조건은 Table 2에 나타내었다.

        To develop molecular markers for late flowering time in radish we performed QTL-seq analysis in which whole genomes are sequenced and SNPs between two groups showing opposite phenotypes in F2 population are analyzed to find regions or QTLs involved in a trait of interest. Two inbred lines (NH-JS1 and NH-JS2) showing opposite phenotypes of flowering time were selected to generate F2 population for the analysis. NH-JS1 showed late flowering time whereas NH-JS2 early flowering time. Genomic DNA from the two lines were extracted and sequenced. In addition F2 population from F1 between NH-JS1 and NH-JS2 was generated and flowering time phenotypes of 180 F2 plants were analyzed. We selected 11 plants with late flowering time and 12 plants showing early flowering time. We extracted DNA from each individuals from the two groups and bulked them to generate two bulked DNA samples that are subject to whole genome resequencing. Preliminary analysis of SNP data from the resequencing showed that there may be several QTLs involved in flowering time control in radish.
