        한국 남해 동부 해역인 통영해역에 설치된 연안 수온 분석 결과, 태풍이 남해안에 상륙하기 전에 수온이 급격하게 상승한 것으 로 나타났다. 수온 상승은 표층(5m)은 물론 저층(15m)까지 같이 발생하였다. NOAA 위성에서 관측한 표면수온자료 분석 결과, 태풍이 상 륙하기 전 한국 남해 동부 해역의 동쪽 해역에 30℃의 수온을 가지는 해수가 존재하였다. 한국 남동해역은 대마난류에 의해 서쪽에서 동 쪽으로 해류가 우세한 지역이나 위성 자료 분석 결과, 30℃의 해수는 동쪽에서 서쪽으로 이동한 것으로 나타나 태풍 상륙 전에 태풍에 의 한 에크만 수송의 영향을 받은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 남해 동부 해역은 한국 동해 해역과 달리 수심이 깊지 않기 때문에 바람에 의한 연 직 혼합으로 인해 전 수층의 수온이 일정하게 나타날 수 있다. 수층별 수온 상승이 같은 날에 발생하였기 때문에 저층 수온 상승은 연직 혼합에 의한 결과라 볼 수 있다. 따라서 한국 남동해역은 태풍의 접근 방향과 고수온의 형성 위치에 따라 에크만 수송에 의해 수온이 급 상승할 수 있는 해역임을 알 수 있다.

        우리나라의 수산 양식의 대부분이 이루어지는 연안과 내만에 최근 빈번한 고수온 현상으로 매년 막대한 양식 피해가 발생하고 있다. 2018년~2021년의 최근 4년간의 7월은 이례적인 고수온, 장마, 태풍 등에 의해 1990년 이후 수온의 연별 변동성이 1994년~1997년에 이 어 두 번째로 크게 나타났다. 동·서·남해의 대표적인 고수온 양식피해 우심해역(천수만, 가막만, 구룡포)에 대한 열속과 열수지 분석을 통 해 여름철 천수만과 가막만의 고수온 발생은 주로 대기로부터 해수면을 통한 열유입에 의한 것임을 확인하였다. 벌크식으로 계산한 순열 속과 수온변화로부터 계산한 해양 열 저장률로부터 4년간(2018년~2021년)의 7월 평균 해양 열 수송률을 추산한 결과, 서산 창리는 순열속 의 13.5 %, 여수 신월은 순열속의 62.3 %가 외부로 유출되는 것으로 계산되었다, 구룡포 하정은 순열속의 22.2 %가 평균적으로 외부로 유출 되는 것으로 평가되었으나, 냉수대 발생 유무에 따라 연도별로 해양 열 수송률이 순열속의 -174.5 %에서 132.5 %까지 큰 차이를 보였다.

        본 연구에서는 강한 한파가 발생했던 2018년과 온난 한파가 발생했던 2019년의 기온에 따른 수온의 반응 및 지연시간과 북풍계 열 바람 빈도와의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 사용된 시간 자료는 국립수산과학원에서 제공하는 7개 지점 해역별 수온자료와 수온관측소 인 근 7개 지점 AWS 기온자료를 이용하였다. 관측되지 못한 자료는 내삽법으로 근사값을 계산하였고, FIR Filter를 이용하여 자료의 주기성을 파악하였다. 그 결과, 강한 한파가 발생했던 2018년은 북풍계열 바람을 통해 차가운 공기가 남하하면서 기온을 하강시켜 전 해역에 저수온을 유발한 반면 온난 한파가 발생했던 2019년은 평년 수준의 기온으로 하강하였지만 수온은 크게 변화하지 않았다. 강한 한파가 발생했 던 2018년 기온 하강에 따른 수온의 지연시간은 평균 14시간으로 0.7 이상의 높은 상관성을 나타냈고 온난 한파가 발생했던 2019년은 평균 지연시간이 20시간으로 0.44-0.67 사이의 상관성을 보였다. 본 연구를 통해 해역별로 기온 하강에 따른 표층수온의 반응을 해석하였고 지연시간을 파악함으로써 양식생물의 피해를 최소화하고 한파 피해의 신속한 대응에 기여할 수 것으로 기대한다.

        본 연구에서는 여름철 동해안 냉수대 해역의 바람의 세기 및 방향과 수온의 장기 변동성을 살펴보았다. 바람분석 결과, 과거 22년(1997년~2011년)과 최근 7년(2012년~2018년)을 비교해 보면 여름철 동안 과거에 비해 최근에 남풍계열 바람의 빈도가 줄었고, 풍속도 약해지는 경향을 보였다. 그러나 6월의 바람은 남풍계열 바람의 빈도와 풍속이 과거에 비해 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 이는 7월과 8월에 주로 나타난 냉수대 시기가 빨라졌다고 분석되었다. 최근 7년 사이 강릉(EN) 해역에서 0.5℃~ 1.8℃의 수온 상승을 보였으며, 영덕(EC)과 기장(ES)은 0.1℃~ 0.3℃의 수온 상승을 보였다. 평년(1990년~2011년, NOAA/AVHRR 위성수온자료) 대비 최근 7년의 냉수대 출현일은 영덕 과 기장에서 줄어드는 경향을 보였고, 강릉은 상대적으로 냉수대 출현일이 증가하는 추세를 보였다. 또한 강릉, 영덕, 기장 해역에서 6월에 냉수대 출현이 증가하는 경향을 보여 냉수대 발생 해역과 시기에 변화가 발생 된 것으로 분석된다. 이러한 결과는 우리나라 주변의 여름철 동아시아 몬순의 약화가 냉수대의 발생원인인 풍향과 풍속에 영향을 미쳤기 때문으로 판단된다.

        본 연구에서는 1995년부터 2016년까지 여름철(5월~8월) 내 동해 연안역에서 발생하는 용승에 대한 지수(Upwelling age, UA)를 산출하고 수온(Surface sea temperature, SST)과의 상관성을 분석하였다. 동해 연안 근처의 6개 기상청 자동기상관측장비 Automatic weather system, AWS)와 종관기상관측장비(Automated synoptic observing system, ASOS) 지점에서 관측된 바람자료를 이용하여 용승지수를 계산하였으며, 수온은 국립수산과학원에서 제공하는 연안정지 자료(Coastal oceanographic data, COD)와 실시간 수온 관측 시스템 (Real-time information system for aquaculture environment, RISA) 자료를 이용하였다. 정량적으로 UA의 값은 낮게 산출되었지만 냉수대 발생 시기에 UA가 상승하였으며 실제와 유사하게 모사해 내었다. UA-SST와의 상관분석에서 음(-)의 상관이 우세하게 나타났다. 냉수대가 극심했던 2013년 6월~8월 UA-SST 상관 분석 결과, 6개 분석지점에서 -0.65~-0.89의 매우 높은 상관성을 보였으며 이는 UA가 강할수록 SST가 하강하여 강한 냉수대가 출현하였음을 증명하였다. 본 연구를 통해 동해연안역의 냉수대에 따른 용승발생 경향을 장기적으로 평가 할 수 있었으며, 용승의 크기와 강도에 따른 연안 양식어장의 피해를 최소화 하는데 기여할 것으로 사료된다.

        본 연구에서는 동해 연안의 경상북도(경북)와 강원도(강원)의 정치망어업에서 31년(1980~2010)간 5~11월에 어획된 방어 어획량 과 연근해 수온과의 관계를 살펴보았다. 또한, NOAA 수온 영상을 이용하여 수온의 상승과 하강 시기에 외해수의 이안 및 접안으로 인한 방어의 북상시기(5~8월)와 남하시기(9~11월)의 어획량 변동을 분석하였다. 전체 방어 어획량의 변동은 연도별 차이는 있지만 방어의 북상 시기보다 남하시기에 높은 수온의 외해수가 연안에 접안할 때 어획량이 증가였다. 연안수온의 하강기는 북상 및 남하하는 모든 시기에 경북이 강원보다 방어 어획량이 많았다. 수온 상승기는 방어 어획량의 증감이 동시에 나타났고, 남하시기의 방어 어획량은 일반적인 현상 과 달리 강원이 경북보다 어획량이 많았다. 이것은 하계의 25 이상의 수온이 강원도까지 분포하면서 추계까지 높은 수온(20 )이 지속 되어 방어의 체류시간이 길어졌기 때문이다.

        The trends of sea surface temperature (SST) variations derived from NOAA satellite data in the Northeast Asian Waters (NAW) were quantified using NOAA satellite data for 19 years (1990~2008). The annual mean SSTs were generally increased in the NAW. However, the SST was decreased in some areas of the East Sea in the NAW. The areas in the East Sea were coincided with the same places which SST was decreased in winter season. The annual amplitudes of SST were increased in the northern parts of the East China Sea, the Korean Straits and the southwestern parts of the East Sea. However, the annual amplitudes of SST were decreased in the other waters. The SST was increased in the southwestern parts of the Yellow Sea in winter but it was decreased in summer season for 19 years (1990~2008). The SST variations in the northwestern parts of the East Sea (NWES) in summer and winter seasons were increased at the same period of time for 19 years (1990~2008). The rates of SST rise in the NWES in winter were higher than those of summer season. Therefore, the annual amplitude in the NWES was decreased.

        In this study, changes in daily temperature range were investigated using daily maximum and minimum temperatures of Busan and Daegu for last 81 years (1934-2014), and also characteristics of daily temperature range and seasonal fluctuations by urbanization were examined. First, elapsing changes showed a lower decreasing trend in Busan (0.32℃) than Daegu (1.2 8℃) for last 81 years. Daily temperature range showed the highest rise in winter in both Busan and Daegu. Second, daily temperature range due to urbanization showed that Busan had a pronounced decreasing trend before urbanization meanwhile Daegu showed the same trend after urbanization. On seasonal changes, the results of Busan showed a decreasing trend in summer before urbanization, and in autumn after urbanization. For Daegu, the results showed a decreasing trend in spring before urbanization, and in winter after urbanization. Seasonal fluctuations of Busan showed little difference in the pre and post-urbanization, except in winter and summer. There was large difference in daily temperature range in winter after urbanization, and in summer before the urbanization. The results in Daegu showed that there was decreasing trend of daily temperature range in all seasons after urbanization.

        In this study we were to explore the seasonal variation of water temperature distributions before and after weir construction at Gumi, Chilgok, Gangjung(Goryung), Dalsung in the Nakdong River using Landsat satellite images. Relationship between in-situ water temperature and radiance values of Landsat-5, 7, 8 satellite images showed high correlation. Seasonal variation of water temperature in Nakdong River showed that the fluctuation ranges of water temperature before weir construction were larger than those after weir construction. This indicated that the variation of water temperature is due to the difference of heat storage volume by weir construction and dredging work. In particular, the water temperature after weirs construction in autumn was 4-8 times lower than that before weirs construction. Water temperature after weir construction decreased in spring and summer at the downstream of Gumi weir and Gangjung(Goryung) weir, and the upstream of Dalsung weir. In autumn and winter, the water temperature after weir construction increased in the upstream and downstream of the whole weirs except upstream of Gumi weir. Relationship between water temperature and meteorological elements (air temperature, wind speed, sunshine, radiation) showed high correlation of above 94% in air temperature, and then radiation was high correlation before and after 65%.

        In this study, we estimate the interannual spatial and temporal distributions of fishing grounds at night in the East Sea based on satellite and in-situ data. We observe that the 15℃ thermal front moves in the north-south direction according to the movement of the warm water (above 18℃) in the Tsushima Warm Current (TWC) area, forcing the cold water area (below 10℃) to either expand or shrink. The interannual variations of sea surface temperature (SST) in winter represented by the indicator SST of 6℃ are consistent with the east-west zonal areas in the central East Sea which represented over 1℃ standard deviation of SST in February during 1990-2000. Annual SST in the fishing grounds of common squid fishing vessels, observed both by fishing vessels and satellites range from 9-22℃, with the satellite-observed data having a larger range than the fishing vessel-based ones. The interannual distributions of the common squid fishing grounds in the East Sea are mostly concentrated in the TWC area in the southwestern part of the East Sea and in the coast of southern Honshu and Hokkaido in Japan. The interannual distributions of the nighttime fishing vessels are consistent with the catches investigated from the fishing vessel.

        This study examined urbanization effects and the causes of urbanization, urban population growth, increase of the city scale, land cover change, and human cultures and economic activities, using the daily minimum temperatures of the past 50 years (1961-2010) with the subject of Busan and analyzed correlations between urbanization effects and the causes of urbanization. Thereby, this paper drew a conclusion as below: 1) Due to the urbanization effects, the average annual daily minimum temperature increased as about 1.2℃; however, except for the factor of urbanization, the increase was shown as about 0.2℃. The occupancy of urbanization effects in the total temperature increase was quite high as about 83%. 2) Just like other cities experiencing urbanization, Busan, too, sees population growth and the expansion of city area as well as increased urbanization effects. First of all, correlation between population growth and urbanization effect was high as 0.96 before 1985 while it was lowered as 0.19 after 1985. Also, correlation between the increase of city area and urbanization effect was high as 0.64 and 0.79 before and after 1985. 3) Regarding the correlation between long-term land use change and urbanization effect, urbanization effect was affected greatly by the increase of city area (0.97) and reduction of green area (0.92). 4) Concerning human activities possible to affect the climatic factors of a city, this paper found the following factors: road length, car increase, power use, and the consumer price index, etc. And regarding the correlation between the three factors and urbanization effect, the correlation was higher in the consumer price index (0.97), the number of registered cars (0.89), power use (0.75), and road length (0.58) in order.

        This study examines the climatological variability of urban area and the increase of temperature by urbanization using the observed data of Busan and Mokpo during the last 100 years (1910∼2010). The results are as follows. First, the maximum temperature in Busan during the last 100 years has increased by 1.5℃ while average temperature and the minimum temperature have increased by 1.6℃ and 2℃. In Mokpo, the maximum temperature and average temperature have increased by 1℃ and the minimum temperature has increased by 0.8℃. The increase of urban temperature appeared to be higher in Busan than in Mokpo by 0.5℃∼1.2℃. Second, as for the change in temperature before and after urbanization, the maximum temperature, average temperature and the minimum temperature during last 50 years compared to the previous 50 years have increased about 1.5℃, 1.6℃ and 2.1℃, however, the predicted temperature after removing urbanization effect was estimated to be increased by 1℃. The proportion that urbanization takes on the overall increase of temperature appeared to be 33% at the maximum temperature, 37.5% at average temperature and 52.3% at the minimum temperature, thus the proportion of urbanization appeared to be maximized at the minimum temperature.

        The present study explores time and spatial thermal environment for Daegu, which is a city built on a basin area, according to varying land cover conditions of the earth's surface by analyzing data derived from meteorological observation and satellite images. The study has classified land use by utilizing MODIS satellite images and analyzed land surface temperature. Also, by using data acquired from automatic weather system, the study has evaluated the effects of atmospheric heating caused by city pavements by analyzing the sensible heat flux between the city's land surface and the atmosphere.The results are as follows. 1) Classification of land use in the Daegu area shows 46.64% of urban and built-up area, 1.39% of watersides, 35.19% of forest, 11.43% of crops, and 5.37% grasslands. 2) During the weekdays throughout the year, the land surface temperature was high for Dalseogu, Bukgu, and Seogu regions where industrial complexes could be found. Comparatively, lower temperature could be observed in the woodlands. 3) While the land surface temperature displayed the effects of pushing air upwards during the weekdays in urban areas, the reverse was true for forest regions. During the night, the temperature did not exert any significant influence on air movement.

        Comparison study on the land surface temperatures, which are calculated from four different algorithms for MODIS data, was carried out and the characteristics of each algorithm on land surface temperature estimation were also analysed in this study. Algorithms, which are well used for various satellite data analysis, in the comparisons are proposed by Price, Becker and Li, Ulivieri et al., and Wan. Verification of estimated land surface temperature from each algorithm is also performed using observation based regression data. The coefficient of determination (R2) for daytime land surface temperature estimated from Wan's algorithm is higher than that of another algorithms at all seasons and the value of R2 reach on 0.92 at spring. Although R2 for Ulivieri's algorithm is slightly lower than that for Wan's algorithm, the variation pattern of land surface temperature for two algorithms are similar. However, the difference of estimated values among four algorithms become small at the region of high land surface temperature.

        We studied the relationship between a civil affair occurrence of bad smell and meteorological conditions around Seongseo district for recent 2 years. The results were as follows; (1) The civil affair occurrence days of bad smell were concentrated from May to August. (2) Daily mean temperatures were mostly 20~28℃ and daily mean relative humidities were 60~80%. (3) Wind speeds were mostly less than 2m/s(75%), and wind directions were southerly winds(50%). It was hardly occurred for relatively well-ventilated conditions in cases of wind speeds 2m/s over. And the Lagrangian particle dispersion model were used to figure out the transport route in a civil affair occurrence days of bad smell. It was found that the south-western winds transported the bad smelling materials from Jungni-dong(the place of source) to the housing complex located along a piedmont district.

        Urban atmospheric conditions are usually settled as warmer, drier and dirtier than those of rural counterpart owing to reduction of green space and water space area, heat retention in surfaces such as concrete and asphalt, and abundant fuel consumption. The characteristics of urban climate has become generally known as urban heat island. The purpose of this study is to investigate the temporal and spatial distribution of the heat emission from human activity, which is a main factor causing urban heat island. In this study, the anthropogenic heat fluxes emitted from vehicles and constructions are estimated by computational grid mesh which is divided by 1km×1km. The anthropogenic heat flux by grid mesh can be applied to a numerical simulation model of the local circulation model. The constructions are classified into 9 energy-consumption types - hospital, hotel, office, department store, commercial store, school, factory, detached house and flat. The vehicles classified into 4 energy-consumption types - car, taxi, truck and bus. The seasonal mean of anthropogenic heat flux around central Daegu exceeded 50W/m2 in winter. The annual mean anthropogenic heat flux exceeded 20W/m2. The values are nearly equivalent to the anthropogenic heat flux in the suburbs of Tokyo, Japan.
