        목적 : 본 연구에서는 HMD VR을 사용해 발생한 사이버 멀미와 양안시 기능이 상관관계를 보이는지 알아보고 자 하였다. 방법 : 근거리 시력에 무리가 없는 20~40대 성인 52명을 대상으로 VR 콘텐츠 이용 전 양안시 기능을 측정하기 위해 수평사위도, 조절 근점, 폭주 근점, 양안조절용이성, 입체시, 상대조절력검사를 시행하였다. 광학 흐름 요소로 구분한 세 가지 VR 콘텐츠를 선정하여 대상자에게 사용하도록 하고 Virtual reality sickness questionnaire을 통해 VR 콘텐츠 이용 전과 후의 사이버 멀미를 측정하였다. 양안시 기능과 사이버 멀미에 대한 상관분석을 실시하 였다. 결과 : VR 콘텐츠 사용 후 콘텐츠 T와 R은 모든 항목에서 사이버 멀미(p<0.001)는 유의하게 증가하였다. 콘텐츠 B의 안구운동에서는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 상관분석에서는 근거리 사위가 콘텐츠 T의 방향감각상실(p< 0.050), 전체 VRSQ(p<0.050)와 음의 상관관계를 보였으며, 콘텐츠 R의 안구운동불편(p<0.050)과 유의한 상관관 계가 나타났다. 양안조절용이성은 콘텐츠 T의 전체 VRSQ(p<0.050)와 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 이 외에 다른 양안 시 기능은 사이버 멀미 요인과 유의한 상관관계를 보이지 않았다. 결론 : 양안시 기능은 사이버 멀미와의 결과로 사용자의 개인적 특성이나 양안시 기능 자체가 사이버 멀미에 미 치는 영향보다 3D를 구현하는 콘텐츠의 광학 흐름 요소가 미치는 영향이 더 높다는 것으로 사료된다. 향후 연구에 서는 VR 콘텐츠의 시각 요소와 시지각에 대한 요소가 고려되어야 할 필요성이 있는 것으로 사료된다.

        본 연구는 방사형 K-공간 획득 기법 중 하나인 JET 기법을 적용하여 어깨관절 자기공명영상 검사에서의 움직임 인공물과 노이즈를 감소 효과를 평가하였다. 2023년 2월 1일부터 3월 31일까지 어깨관절 자기공명영상 검사를 받 은 35명을 대상으로 선정하여 후향적으로 분석하였다. 평가는 JET 기법 적용 여부에 따라 신호 대 노이즈 비, 평균 대 표준편차 비, 움직임 인공물 발생 여부에 대한 영상 평가를 수행하였다. JET 기법을 적용한 그룹에서는 신호 대 노이즈 비, 평균 대 표준편차 비, 움직임 인공물 발생 여부에 대한 영상 평가 값이 통계적으로 유의하게 높게 나타났다(p<0.05). 본 연구를 통해 어깨관절 자기공명영상 검사 시 JET 기법의 도입은 움직임 인공물의 감소뿐만 아니라 신호 대 노이즈 비와 평균 대 표준편차 비가 향상된 영상을 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 JET 기법이 어깨관절 영상 취득에 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단되며, 더 나아가 다양한 부위에 적용되는데 있어 서도 기여할 수 있을것으로 예상된다.

        생성형 인공지능의 계속적인 발전은 다음과 같은 신학적 질문들을 제기할 것이다. “인공지능은 하나님의 창조물인가?”, “인공지능은 인간 의 존엄성에 도전을 제기할까?”, “인공지능은 도덕적 판단을 내릴 수 있는가?”, “인공지능은 신앙을 가질 수 있는가?”, “인공지능은 인류의 멸망을 초래할까?” 이런 질문들이 현재로서 다소 이르다고 생각할 수도 있지만, 생성형 인공지능의 발전 속도를 보면, 곧 우리에게 닥칠 질문이 될 것이다. 따라서 본 논문은 인공지능의 발전이 신학에 제기하게 될 질문들을 선교학의 관점에서 살펴봄으로써, 인공지능과 신학이 어떻 게 바람직하게 공존할 수 있을지에 대해 탐구한다. 나아가 창조론, 인간론, 죄론, 구원론, 종말론과 같은 기존 신학 영역들을 새로운 관점에 서 재해석하는 것을 넘어, 선교학적 측면에서 ‘인공지능 신학(AI theology)’의 가능성을 모색한다. 지난 2천 년의 기독교 선교 역사가 당대의 신학적 물음에 대한 진솔한 응답이었다는 점을 기억한다면, 우리는 계속해서 당대에 제기되는 신학적 물음에 대해 선교적 관점에서 고민해야 할 것이다.

        The primary therapeutic approach for Brucella species infections has mainly been based on antibiotic treatment. However, the development of vaccines for brucellosis control remains controversial. Furthermore, there is currently no licensed vaccine available for human brucellosis. This study aims to evaluate the effect of a combination of recombinant protein vaccines against Brucella (B.) abortus infection using a mouse model. Two B. abortus genes, namely dapB and gpm, were cloned and expressed in competent Escherichia (E.) coli DH5α using the pCold-TF vector. Successfully cloned vectors were subjected to PCR amplification using specific primer pairs. The apparent sizes of dapB and gpm were detected at 807 bp and 621 bp, respectively. Besides, the purified recombinant proteins dapB and gpm were detected using SDS-PAGE electrophoresis with correct sizes of 82.86 kDa and 87.61 kDa, respectively. These recombinant proteins were used to immunize mice as a combined subunit vaccine (CSV) to elicit host immunity against B. abortus infection. Mice immunized with CSV exhibited increased proliferation of CD4+ and/or CD8+ T cells at week 7th and 9th before sacrifice, in comparison to the control group. Notably, CSV immunization showed a significant decrease in bacterial burden in the spleen compared to the control group. Altogether, CSV using dapB and gpm induced host adaptive immune response against Brucella infection, suggesting its potential as an effective new subunit vaccine candidate.

        In NPP (nuclear power plant), boric acid is used as a neutron absorbent. So radioactive boric acid waste are generated from various waste streams such as discharge or leakage of reactor coolant water, floor drains, drainage of equipment for operation or maintenance, reactor letdown flows and etc. Depending on KHNP, 20,015 drum (200 L drum) of concentrated boric acid waste were stored in KOREA NPP until 2019. In previous study, our group suggested the waste upcycling process synthesizing B4C neutron absorber using boric acid waste and activated carbon waste to innovatively reduce radioactive wastes. Radioactive activated carbon waste was utilized in off gas treatment system of NPP to capture nuclide such as I-131, C-14 and H-3. Activated carbon waste is treated as low-level radioactive waste and pre-treatment system for removing nuclide from the activated carbon waste is needed to use B4C up-cycling process. In this study, microwave treatment system is suggested to treat the activated carbon waste. Activated carbon waste was exposed to microwave for a few minutes and temperature of the waste was dramatically increased over 400°C. Nuclide in the activated carbon waste were selectively removed from the waste without massive production of secondary off gas waste.

        The primary objective of this study is to evaluate a systematic design’s effectivity in remediating actual uranium-contaminated soil. The emphasis was placed on practical and engineering aspects, particularly in assessing the capabilities of a zero liquid discharge system in treating wastewater derived from soil washing. The research method involved a purification procedure for both the uranium-contaminated soil and its accompanying wastewater. Notably, the experimental outcomes demonstrated successful uranium separation from the contaminated soil. The treated soil could be self-disposed of, as its uranium concentration fell below 1.0 Bq·g−1, a level endorsed by the International Atomic Energy Agency for radionuclide clearance. The zero liquid discharge system’s significance lay in its distillation process, which not only facilitated the reuse of water from the separated filtrate but also allowed for the self-disposal of high-purity Na2SO4 within the residues of the distilled filtrate. Through a comparative economic analysis involving direct disposal and the application of a remediation process for uranium-contaminated soil, the comprehensive zero liquid discharge system emerged as a practical and viable choice. The successful demonstration of the design and practicality of the proposed zero liquid discharge system for treating wastewater originating from real uranium-contaminated soil is poised to have a lasting impact.

        Spodoptera species (S. exigua and S. litura) are important pests of several crops and vegetables in Korea. We investigated development processes of Spodoptera species under constant temperatures (20, 25 and 30 oC) regimes and relative humidity (RH) (30-35, 50-55, 70-75, and 90-95%) conditions. We collected eggs of Spodoptera species by releasing them into a rectangular box inner walls covered with a sheet of white paper. Temperature and RH significantly impacted on oviposition, immature survival, adult emergence and longevity of Spodoptera species. Maximum number of eggs, shorter developmental time, higher adult emergence with longer longevity were reported in 70-75% at 30 oC. Minimal eggs and larval survival were recorded in 30-35% and 90-95% RH, respectively. This results suggest that temperature and RH had individual apparent effect on the developmental processes of Spodoptera species instead interactive effect. Therefore, there is chance to cause a significant damage to field crops and vegetables in 70-75% at 30 oC.

        Background: Choosing to perform squats on an unstable surface potentially offers advantages surpassing those of their stable counterpart. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare muscle activation during squats on stable and unstable surfaces and investigate the relationship among thigh muscles. Design: Observational study. Methods: Nineteen adults participated in this study. The stable surface consisted of a flat floor. The unstable surface involved the use of an air cushion. An air cushion was positioned beneath each foot of the study participants. Surface electromyography was employed to measure muscle activation. %MVC was calculated by measuring muscle activation during squat execution and manual muscle testing. Results: The comparison of muscle activation during squats between stable and unstable surfaces revealed a significant difference in the rectus femoris and biceps femoris (P<.05). On stable surfaces, positive correlations were observed in the rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, and vastus medialis (P<.05). On unstable surfaces, positive correlations were found between the rectus femoris and vastus medialis (P<.05). Conclusion: This study observed an increase in muscle activation of the rectus femoris and biceps femoris during squats on an unstable support surface compared to a stable support surface.

        Extensive research and testing continue to be conducted for the development of vaccines targeting zoonotic diseases such as brucellosis. In this study, the potential of the DapB as a recombinant protein vaccine to effectively combat Brucella abortus 544 infection in BALB/c mice was evaluated. Western blotting assay results showed that recombinant protein DapB reacted with Brucella-positive serum, indicating its potential immunoreactivity. In vivo results showed that the peripheral blood CD4+ and CD8+ T cell population significantly increased in the DapB-immunized mice group after the first, second and third blood collection, compared to the control group that received PBS. Additionally, at the fourth blood collection, an increase in CD4+ T cell activation was observed in three vaccination groups compared to PBS negative control group. These results indicate the potential of DapB in stimulating cellular immunity. Fourteen days after infection, the bacterial load in the spleen was evaluated. The reduction in bacterial replication in the spleen by both DapB and RB51 highlights their protective efficacy against Brucella infection. These findings contribute to the ongoing efforts in developing effective vaccines against brucellosis and provide valuable insights for further research in this field.

        Background: Coating a culture plate with molecules that aid in cell adhesion is a technique widely used to produce animal cell cultures. Extracellular matrix (ECM) is known for its efficiency in promoting adhesion, survival, and proliferation of adherent cells. Gelatin, a cost-effective type of ECM, is widely used in animal cell cultures including feeder-free embryonic stem (ES) cells. However, the optimal concentration of gelatin is a point of debate among researchers, with no studies having established the optimal gelatin concentration. Methods: In this study, we coated plastic plates with gelatin in a concentrationdependent manner and assessed Young’s modulus using atomic force microscopy (AFM) to investigate the microstructure of the surface of each plastic plate. The adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation of the ESCs were compared and analyzed revealing differences in surface microstructure dependent on coating concentration. Results: According to AFM analysis, there was a clear difference in the microstructure of the surface according to the presence or absence of the gelatin coating, and it was confirmed that there was no difference at a concentration of 0.5% or more. ES cell also confirmed the difference in cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation according to the presence or absence of gelatin coating, and also it showed no difference over the concentration of 0.5%. Conclusions: The optimum gelatin-coating for the maintenance and differentiation of ES cells is 0.5%, and the gelatin concentration-mediated microenvironment and ES cell signaling are closely correlated.

        This study empirically verified the endorsement effect of a restaurant platform as a reliable third-party organization on changes in customers’ attitudes toward restaurants by measuring big data-based consumption values using customers’ reviews and applying difference-in-differences. The results indicated that endorsement effects are effective when specific cues are provided and under unusual circumstances such as the pandemic.

        We study retailer app use and shopping behavior by investigating whether and how app adopters’ preferred store registration (PSR), a voluntary enrollment of store loyalty program, can lead to changes in purchase behaviors among the adopters in offline stores. A panel dataset from a large bakery franchise chain was studied using difference-in-differences with propensity score matching for causal inference. The results show that customers who participated in PSR increase their spending, compared to customers who did not. In addition, the results confirm that the PSR-spending relationship is moderated by customer and store characteristics; customers who visited infrequently and spent less prior to PSR participation increase their purchases, and they spend more at stores with better service quality.

        Adding new stores close to incumbent franchisees, or franchise encroachment, has been a contentious issue in the marketplace. Prior studies on the encroachment effect focus mainly on the store-level cannibalization, lacking the understanding of customer-level post-encroachment outcomes. The authors investigate individual-level transaction data from a cluster of bakery franchise stores to quantify the franchise encroachment effect at store- and individual-levels with store and customer heterogeneity. Our results show that incumbents experience a decrease in sales, and the extent of the lost sales is attenuated by the distance between incumbent and new stores and the size of incumbents’ product assortment. The individual-level analysis reveals that three customer segments exhibit different post-encroachment shopping behaviors: (1) patronizing incumbents only, (2) patronizing both incumbent and new stores, and (3) completely switching to new stores. While the second segment increases the post-encroachment overall spending, the third segment contributes to both cannibalization to incumbents and higher sales to the franchisor. Our findings offer managerial implications of how to manage franchise encroachment with context-dependency and customer segmentation in terms of maximizing overall franchise performance.

        Involving issues of environmental, consumer safety and health, and/or social concerns, a morally controversial action refers to an activity that does not have a single standard of ethics for all people, making it challenging to draw a clear line between what is ethical versus unethical. Despite its ambiguity, any firm can be involved in it, especially when the firm operates in the global marketplace where a variety of social, health, and environmental consequences surrounding a given action are questioned by consumers. If consumers come to know of a familiar brand’s morally controversial behavior, it can create approach-avoidance conflicts in their minds; they may see the brand’s action as mismatched with their own moral standards (“avoidance” manifested through a measurable construct––moral incongruence), while being tempted to justify the action (“approach” manifested through moral rationalization).
