        To understand the effect of high pressure on nitrogen oxides (NOx) formation in water added methane flames, opposed nonpremixed Water-methane/air (H2O-CH4/air) flames are numerically studied with high initial pressure. With GRI 3.0 detailed kinetic mechanism, NOx emissions are predicted for various strain rates. Due to high pressure, the chemical species are distributed in a narrow region, which means the thickness of the flame is thin. This can be clearly seen with high strain rate. Elevated pressure increases maximum temperature of flames which results in increased NOx emission. Even with elevated initial pressure, NOx emissions for H2O added methane flames are significantly decreased compare to pure methane flame. In addition, increased strain rate is also significant factor for decreasing NOx emission. With detailed rate of production analysis, in case of high pressure, it is confirmed that NO2 pathway is the most dominant reaction pathway than any other pathways.

        본 실험은 물냉이 수경재배 시 양액 내 발생 시킨 마이크로버블이 물냉이의 생육과 glucosinolate 축적에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 본엽 4매의 물냉이 유묘(파종 2주 후)를 마이크로 버블과 비-마이크로버블을 발생시킨 오오츠카 배양액을 이용하여 환경조절룸에서 3주간 재배하였다. 물냉이 초장은 대조구처리가 마이크로버 블처리보다 41% 증가하였으며, 유의적으로 높게 나타났다. 그러나, 지상부 생체중과 건물중, 근장, 엽장, 엽폭, SPAD, 량자수율값은 두처리간 유의적 차이는 나타나지 않았다. Glucosinolate 함량을 분석 결과 4-methoxygluco-brassicin을 제외한 glucoiberin, glucobrassicin, gluconapin, gluconasturtiin의 경우 마이크로버블 처리구가 대조구보다 유의적으로 높게 나타났으며, 물냉이 한주 당 총 glucosinolate 함량은 마이크로버블 처리구가 대조구 보다 85%(μmol/g DW)와 65%(μmol/plant) 더 높게 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 담액재배시 양액 내 마이크로버블 이 물냉이의 glucosinolate 함량을 증가시킬 수 있을 것으로 나타났다.

        본 연구에서는 분류학적 실체에 대해 많은 논쟁이 있어왔던 황철나무와 물황철나무의 분류학적 재검토를 통해 두 분류군의 유연관계를 밝히기 위하여 엽형질과 미세형질들을 분석하였다. 엽의 크기를 암·수 구분 없이 전체 평균 너비, 길이, 면적으로 비교한 결과 종간 및 종내 모두 1%에서 고도의 유의차가 검증되었고, 황철나무는 55.56 mm, 73.5 mm, 28.72 mm2, 물황철나무는 76.80 mm, 117.82 mm, 68.61 mm2로 측정되어 황철나무의 엽 생장은 물황철나무에 비해 작은 것으로 나타났다. 황철나무의 엽병과 엽맥에는 털이 발견되지 않았지만 물황철나무의 엽병과 엽맥에는 양면 모두 털이 밀생하였다. 성숙한 황철나무의 삭과는 3개로 갈라지며 동일한 시기에 물황철나무는 4개로 갈라지는 것으로 확인되었다. 조사된 형질을 종합한 결과, 황철나무와 물황철나무의 종간 분류에 중요한 정보를 주는 요인으로는 잎의 크기와 삭과가 터지는 유형, 엽병 털의 유무 등이 있었다.

        Traditional wastewater research mainly focuses on 1) estimating the amount of waste entering sewage treatment facilities, 2) evaluating the treatment efficiency of sewage facilities, 3) investigating the role of sewage treatment effluent as a point source, and 4) designing and managing sewage treatment facilities. However, since wastewater contains a variety of chemical and biological substances due to the discharge of human excreta and material used for daily living into it, the collective constituents of wastewater are likely a reflection of a community’s status. Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE), an emerging and promising field of study that involves the analysis of substances in wastewater, can be applied to monitor the state of a defined community. WBE provides opportunities for exploiting indicators in wastewater to fulfill various objectives. The data analyzed under WBE are those pertaining to selected natural and anthropogenic substances in wastewater that are a result of the discharge of metabolic excreta, illicit or legal drugs, and infectious pathogens into the wastewater. This paper reviews recent progress in WBE and addresses current challenges in the field. It primarily discusses several representative applications including the investigation of drug consumption across different communities and the management of community disease and health. Finally, it summarizes established indicators for WBE.

        In this paper, the current water management organization of the Korean government and those of foreign countries were analyzed to draw out a plan to build a more rational water management organization. And then, the two organization reform alternatives were discussed on which alternatives can effectively manage the water. Through the analysis, deployment of three divisions including the water policy, the wastewater policy and the division of water industries and business are the best alternative in terms of water equality, sustainability and efficiency, which are the three main goals of the new Water Management Act, Water Management Basic Act. With much efforts, the Korea has come to the era of One Water Management. The water management paradigm proposed in this opinion is expected to become a new engine of economical growth of the nation.

        The drinking water supply system applicable to the laying hen consists of air-water heat pumps, drinking water tanks, heat stroage tank, circulation pumps, PE pipes, nipples, and control panels. When the heat pump system has power of 7.7 to 8.7 kW per hour, the performance coefficient is between 3.1 and 3.5. The supply temperature from the heat pump to the heat stroage tank was stabilized at about 12±1°C, but the return temperature showed a variation of from 8 to 14°C. Stratified temperature in the storage tank appeared at 12.°C, 13.5°C and 14.4°C, respectively. The drinking water supply temperature remained set at 15°C and 25°C, and the conventional tap water showed a variation for 23°C to 30°C. As chickens grow older, the amount of food intake and drinking water increased. y = -0.0563x2 + 4.7383x + 8.743, R2 = 0.98 and the feed intake showed y = -0.1013x2 + 8.5611x. In the future, further studies will need to figure out the cooling effect on heat stress of livestock.

        Graphene oxide (GO) laminate is a new promising material for water purification system, which has extraordinary permeability only for water molecule. It consists of numerous nano-channels, in which water molecules could be nano-confined, resulting in slip of the molecules for very fast transportation speed. In this study, water penetration rate via different thickness of GO membrane according to driven pressures are measured experimentally, so that speed of water molecules and permeability are evaluated. Generally, water penetration rate via a membrane with macroscopic-sized channel increases linearly with pressure difference between up and bottom side of the membrane, but that via GO membrane approaches asymptotic value (i.e. saturation) as like a log function. Moreover, the permeability of GO membrane was observed in inverse proportion to its thickness. Based on the experimental observations, a correlation for volume flux via GO membrane was suggested with respect to its thickness and external pressure difference.

        The results of the survey on water utilization status, the wasted water factor, the awareness, and the education and promotional activities of water saving in Daejeon City are as follows: The percentage of using tap valve with a closure was 66% when showering. 74% of water was used with closing the tap valve when washing faces with no water needed, it was still considered that there existed a wasting water. The most wasting reasons of water were found to be shower, bath, and laundry in order. In the awareness of practicing tap water saving, 9.1% of respondents acted actively, 53.4% of them were trying to practice it, and more than 63% had a positive awareness. In the contents of practicing saving water, locking water when soaping while showering, non-laundry of small quantity, and using cups when brushing teeth were top priorities. About 50% of the reasons for saving water was to practice purely saving water, when saving for economic help was excluded. The level of water saving awareness was not high when considering that the ratio of usage without water saving equipment and installation, and using method was relatively high when moving in. In order to make usage of water saving equipment more common, it was deemed necessary to provide information on the purchase of water saving equipment and to promote and educate the efficiency of saving of related products. More than about 90% of the respondents responded that water saving education or promotional activities had an effect of improving water saving awareness. The most effective method of education and promotional activities was found to be 40.4% by mass media activities, and 21.7% by promotions through mobile devices.

        Mold grows more easily when humidity is higher in indoor spaces, and as such is found more often on wetted areas in housing such as walls, toilets, kitchens, and poorly managed spaces. However, there have been few studies that have specifically assessed the level of mold in the indoor spaces of water-damaged housing in the Republic of Korea. We investigated the levels of airborne mold according to the characteristics of water damage types and explored the correlation between the distribution of mold genera and the characteristics of households. Samplings were performed from January 2016 to June 2018 in 97 housing units with water leakage or condensation, or a history of flooding, and in 61 general housing units in the metropolitan and Busan area, respectively. Airborne mold was collected on MEA (Malt extract agar) at flow rate of 100 L/min for 1 min. After collection, the samples were incubated at 25oC for 120 hours. The cultured samples were counted and corrected using a positive hole conversion table. The samples were then analyzed by single colony culture, DNA extraction, gene amplification, and sequencing. By type of housing, concentrations of airborne mold were highest in flooded housing, followed by water-leaked or highly condensed housings, and then general housing. In more than 50% of water-damaged housing, the level of airborne mold exceeded the guideline of Korea's Ministry of Environment (500 CFU/m3). Of particular concern was the fact that the I/O ratio of water-damaged housing was greater than 1, which could indicate that mold damage may occur indoors. The distribution patterns of the fungal species were as follows: Penicillium spp., Cladosporium spp. (14%), Aspergillus spp. (13%) and Alternaria spp. (3%), but significant differences of their levels in indoor spaces were not found. Our findings indicate that high levels of mold damage were found in housing with water damage, and Aspergillus flavus and Penicillium brevicompactum were more dominant in housing with high water activity. Comprehensive management of flooded or water-damaged housing is necessary to reduce fungal exposure.

        In this study, various physical cleaning methods such as physical washing and osmotic backwash, were performed to understand membrane fouling characteristics by employing real secondary wastewater effluent (SWWE). In addition, microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) pretreatments were compared to maximize removal of organic matter and to control membrane fouling efficiently. Organic foulants deposited on the active layer of FO membrane were observed by fouling behavior test. The relationship between concentrations of natural organic matter and membrane fouling was also investigated from the bench-scale FO tests. Finally, by quantitative analysis of correlations between foulants and fouling reversibility with the modified fouling index (MFI), we identified the applicability of MFI in predicting FO intake water fouling potential.

        (주)파인텍에서 개발한 제올라이트 4A 분리막을 이용하여 물/알코올의 단일및 혼합성분의 투과증발 실험을 수행하였다. 다양한 온도 및 농도 조건 실험을 통해 물/메탄올(분리계수 250 이상) 물/에탄올(3,000 이상), 물/이소프로필알코올(1,500 이상), 물/부탄올 (1,500 이상) 혼합물로 부터 물을 선택적으로 분리할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 활동도계수-퓨개시티 모형, GMS 모형 및 Dusty Gas 모형을 이용하여 단일성분 및 혼합물의 투과증발 거동을 모사하였으며, GA (Genetic Algorithm) 및 SQP (sequential quadratic programming)를 이용한 상수추정을 통하여 제올라이트 활성층의 흡착 및 확산 상수를 구하였다.

        배양액의 종류 및 LED를 이용한 다양한 광질 조건이 물냉이의 생장과 glucosinolates 함량에 미치는 영향을 3주간의 수경재배를 통하여 살펴보았다. 물냉이 종자를 암면배지에 파종 후 발아시켜, 2주간 육묘하였다. 유묘들은 semi-DFT 시스템에 이식하였다. 환경조절실은 주간온도 20±1℃와 야간온도 16±1℃, 주간습도 65±10%와 야간습도 75±10%의 범위에서 조절되었으며 16/8h 조건의 광주기와 180±10μmol·m-2·s-1 광강도를 유지하였다. 배양액은 오오츠카 하우스 1A(OTS), 한국원시(HES)과 화란온실작물연구소(PBG) 배양액을 초기 EC 1.0-1.3, pH 6.2와 형광등을 광원으로 실험하였다(실험-1). 광질에 대한 생육과 glucosinolates 함량을 분석하기 위하여 단색광(적색: R10, 백색: W10) 처리구와 혼합광(적청녹색: R2B1G1, 백청녹색: W2B1G1, 적색: R10, 적청색: R5B1, 적청색: R3B1)처리구를 두었다. 물냉이 지상부의 생육은 3개의 배양액 처리구에서 유의적인 차이가 발견되지 않았지만, 뿌리의 생체중은 HES와 비교하여 PBG와 OTS에서 13.7%와 55.1% 증가하였다. OTS 처리는 PBG와 HES 처리구에 비해 gluconasturtiin 함량이 96%, 65% 증가하였다. 백색광조건(W10)과 비교하여 적색광(R10) 처리는 초장이 101.3% 증가하였다. 청색광 비율의 증가는 지상부 생육에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 물냉이의 건물중 당 glucosinolates 함량은 R2B1G1 처리구와 비교하여 R3B1 처리구에서 144.5% 증가하였으며, W10 처리구와 비교 시, 약 70% 증가하는 경향을 보였다. R3B1 처리구에서 물냉이의 생육과 총 glucosinolates의 함량이 가장 높게 나타났다.

        FASs (fluoroalkylsilanes)로 표면 개질한 소수성 막에 대한 부탄올/물, 이소프로판올/물 용액의 수착(sorption)량을 측정하였으며 이들 수착 특성을 Hansen 용해도 파라미터를 이용하여 해석하였다. 부탄올의 수착량이 이소프토판올보다 많았으며, 이는 부탄올의 용해도 파라미터(δt = 20.4)와 FASs 소수성 막의 용해도 파라미터(δt = 16.9)와의 차이가 이소프로판올 (δt = 24.6)과의 차이보다 작기 때문인 것으로 설명할 수 있다. 극성력(δp) 측면에서 살펴보면, FASs 극성력(δp = 4.6)과 부탄올의 극성력(δp = 6.3)과의 차이가 FASs 극성력(δp = 4.6)과 이소프로판올의 극성력(δp = 9.0)과의 차이보다 작다. 이는 부탄올-FASs 간의 극성력 차이가 이소프로판올-FASs 간의 극성력 차이보다 작아서 부탄올-FASs 간의 상호인력이 크다는 것 을 의미하며, 수착량이 크게 나타나는 결과를 설명할 수 있다. 본 실험결과로부터 막에 대한 알코올의 수착특성, 용매에 대한 용질의 용해도 등을 분석하는데 용해도 파라미터를 이용할 수 있음을 알 수 있다.
