        Waste oyster shell is a waste product from oyster-culturing farm and also presents a major disposal problem in itself. The present study is conducted to develop equipments for recycling waste oyster shells etc. Through the processing of the recycling treatment of wasted marine products, it is transfered and used as the other functional materials. The advanced drying and crushing equipments are designed and conducted the performance evaluation. Finally, it was shown that performance of these are superior to that of the other existing equipments.

        The present study demonstrates the effect of solidification condition on the pore structure in freeze drying process using the slurries of CuOlimable vehicles. Camphene and Camphor-45 wt% naphthalene based slurries with 14 vol% CuO powder were frozen into a mold at -25℃<, followed by sublimation at room temperature. The green bodies were hydrogen-reduced and sintered at 500℃ for 1 h. The porous Cu specimen, frozen the CuO/camphene slurry into the heated mold of the upper part, showed large pores with unidirectional pore channels and small pores in their internal wall. Also, it was observed that the size of large pores was decreasing near the bottom part of specimen. The change of pore structure depending on the freezing condition was explained by the nucleation behavior of camphene crystals and rearrangement of solid powders during solidification. In case of porous Cu prepared from CuO/Camphor-naphthalene system, the pore structure exhibited plate shape as a replica of the original structure of crystallized vehicles with hypereutectic composition.

        Mulberry fruits were semi-dried using hot air (60-100℃) or cool air (20-40℃), and the effects of the dryingtemperature and processing time on the quality of the final driedmulberry fruits were investigated. Response surface methodologywas employed to establish a statistical model and predict theconditions resulting in minimal loss of the total phenolic content(TPC) and ascorbic acid. Thus, using overlapped contour plots,the optimal conditions for producing semi-dried mulberry fruits,which reduced the moisture residue to 45% and minimized thenutrient losses of TPC and ascorbic acid, were determined for thehot-air process (60.7℃ for 5.4h) and cool-air process (34.8℃ for23.3h). Plus, a higher drying temperature was found to lead to afaster loss of moisture and ascorbic acid, while the TPC wassignificantly decreased in the cool-air dried mulberry fruits due tothe higher activity of polyphenol oxidase between 30 and 40℃.

        This study reports a simple way of fabricating the porous Cu with unidirectional pore channels by freezedrying camphene slurry with Cu oxide coated Cu powders. The coated powders were prepared by calcination of ball-milled powder mixture of Cu and Cu-nitrate. Improved dispersion stability of camphene slurry could be achieved usingthe Cu oxide coated Cu powders instead of pure Cu powders. Pores in the frozen specimen at -25oC were generated bysublimation of the camphene during drying in air, and the green bodies were sintered at 750oC for 1 h in H2 atmo-sphere. XRD analysis revealed that the coated layer of Cu oxide was completely converted to Cu phase without anyreaction phases by hydrogen heat treatment. The porous Cu specimen prepared from pure Cu powders showed partlylarge pores with unidirectional pore channels, but most of pores were randomly distributed. In contrast, large andaligned parallel pores to the camphene growth direction were clearly observed in the sample using Cu oxide coated Cupowders. Pore formation behavior depending on the initial powders was discussed based on the degree of powder rear-rangement and dispersion stability in slurry.

        In this paper, we investigate the statistical correlation of the time series for temperature measured at the heat box in the automobile drying process. We show, in terms of the sample variance, that a significant non-linear correlation exists in the time series that consist of absolute temperature changes. To investigate further the non-linear correlation, we utilize the volatility, an important concept in the financial market, and induce volatility time series from absolute temperature changes. We analyze the time series of volatilities in terms of the de-trended fluctuation analysis (DFA), a method especially suitable for testing the long-range correlation of non-stationary data, from the correlation perspective. We uncover that the volatility exhibits a long-range correlation regardless of the window size. We also analyze the cross correlation between two (inlet and outlet) volatility time series to characterize any correlation between the two, and disclose the dependence of the correlation strength on the time lag. These results can contribute as important factors to the modeling of forecasting and management of the heat box’s temperature.

        곳감 생산 현장에 적용하기 위해 식초, 자몽추출물 등 총 6종의 추출물에 대한 배합비를 설정하였고, 그 결과 우수한 활성을 가지는 천연 복합 활성제의 최종적인 혼합비는 정향 18.18%, 계피 9.90%, 감초 9.09%, 천궁 4.55%, 자몽종자출물 4.55% 및 사과 식초 54.54%임을 확인하였다. 대조구 및 처리구의 수분 함량을 측정한 결과는 항갈변 실험과 항진균 실험, 항갈변/항진균 실험 모두에서 전체적으로 1주차에 비해 6주차에서 수분의 함량이 증가 하였으며 측정 주차 별로 control이 처리구에 비해 수분 함량이상대적으로 낮았다. 당도 변화에서는 건조가 진행됨에 따라 전반적 곶감의 당도는 증가하였다. 항갈변/항진균 실험에서 30∼39 °brix로 높은 당함량을 보였다. 경도를 측정한 결과에서는 control과 처리구는 거의 비슷하였으며 6주 뒤 평균적으로 0.5∼0.8정도 줄어들었다. 색도변화에서는 △값의 변화는 건조 기간 중감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 천연 추출물은 곶감의 건조기간 중에 나타나는 품질저하를 효과적으로 억제하고 유해성 논란이 되고 있는 유황훈증법을 대체할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

        본 연구는 고추 천일 건조시 야간 온도 관리 방법이 품질과건조 효율에 미치는 효과를 구명하기 위하여 실시하였다. 하우스 건조시 산광 재료는 백색 부직포를 사용하였으며, 양건(관행), 원적외선필름, 원적외선등, 원적외선필름+원적외선등,송풍 등 5처리를 두었다.1. 고추 건조 시험기간 9일 중 6일 동안 총 187.5mm의비가 내려 고추 건조에 불리한 조건이었다. 2. 고추의 건조 속도는 원적외선등, 원적외선필름+원적외선등, 원적외선필름, 송풍구와 대조구 순이었다. 3. 건조 상품 수량은 원적외선등 처리구, 원적외선필름 처리구, 원적외선필름+원적외선등 처리구, 송풍처리구, 대조구 순으로 많았다. 4. 고추의 L 값은 처리에 따라 27.29~28.00으로 처리 간에차이가 없었다. 5. 고추의 ASTA 값, ‘a’ 값, ‘b’ 값은 원적외선등 처리구에서 높았다. 6. 갈변도는 송풍처리구에서 0.58(O.D. 420nm)로 가장 낮았다. 7. Capsaicinoids의 함량은 송풍 처리구에서 68.8mg/100g로 제일 높았다.결론적으로, 비닐하우스 이용 태양초 생산시 야간에 원적외선등을 켜 주면 품질이 우수하고 상품 수량이 증가하여 관련산업의 발전에 기여하리라 기대된다.

        In this paper, numerical simulations are performed for the drying process of potato chip in a microwave oven with multiple waveguides, with the purpose of enhancing the uniformity in temperature distribution. A simulation model is built and simulated using COMSOL Multiphysics software. The simulation model uses 5 different positions of waveguides to see whether it affects the heat distribution in the material. In order to know the final temperature result of the material after it comes out of the cavity on a moving conveyor belt, the average temperature values along the direction of the conveyor belt motion are calculated and plotted. From the results, the best waveguide position is determined to get the best temperature distribution in the potato chips.

        This study investigated the antioxidative activities and quality characteristics of gruel as a home meal replacement with Angelica keiskei powder pre-treated by far-infrared radiation or freeze-drying methods. Far-infrared treated Angelica keiskei powder (F-IAP) showed significantly lighter, weaker green, and stronger yellow color values than powder subjected to freezedrying (FAP) (p<0.001). F-IAP showed higher total phenolic compound contents than that of the FAP. ABTS radical scavenging activity of F-IAP was 50.31%, which was significantly higher than that of FAP, at 43.51% (p<0.05). Color values of gruel significantly decreased with increased addition of Angelica keiskei powder (p<0.05). Gruels containing far-infrared treated Angelica keiskei powder (F-IAG) showed higher total phenolic compound contents as well as ABTS radical scavenging activities compared to the gruels containing freeze-dried Angelica keiskei powder (FAG). Gruels containing 5 g of Angelica keiskei powder showed 2.0 to 2.5 times higher antioxidant activities than those containing powder alone due to the presence of other ingredients with antioxidant activities such as black soybean or sweet pumpkin. In the results of sensory evaluation, F-IAG containing more than 5 g of Angelica keiskei powder had higher sweetness and roasted grain flavor, as well as lower bitterness and astringency compared to FAG. Sensory acceptance tests of all samples showed higher scores than 5.0 representing possibilities of successful development of gruels as a home meal replacement containing Angelica keiskei powder.

        Cu-Ni alloys with unidirectionally aligned pores were prepared by freeze-drying process of CuO-NiO/cam-phene slurry. Camphene slurries with dispersion stability by the addition of oligomeric polyester were frozen at -25˚C,and pores in the frozen specimens were generated by sublimation of the camphene during drying in air. The green bod-ies were hydrogen-reduced at 300˚C and sintered at 850˚C for 1h. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that CuO-NiOcomposite powders were completely converted to Cu-Ni alloy without any reaction phases by hydrogen reduction. Thesintered samples showed large and aligned parallel pores to the camphene growth direction, and small pores in the inter-nal wall of large pores. The pore size and porosity decreased with increase in CuO-NiO content from 5 to 10 vol%.The change of pore characteristics was explained by the degree of powder rearrangement in slurry and the accumulationbehavior of powders in the interdendritic spaces of solidified camphene.

        Freeze drying of a porous Cu-Sn alloy with unidirectionally aligned pore channels was accomplished by using a composite powder of CuO-SnO2 and camphene. Camphene slurries with CuO-SnO2 content of 3, 5 and 10 vol% were prepared by mixing with a small amount of dispersant at 50˚C. Freezing of a slurry was done at -25˚C while the growth direction of the camphene was unidirectionally controlled. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphene during drying in air for 48 h. The green bodies were hydrogen-reduced at 650˚C and then were sintered at 650˚C and 750˚C for 1 h. XRD analysis revealed that the CuO-SnO2 powder was completely converted to Cu-Sn alloy without any reaction phases. The sintered samples showed large pores with an average size of above 100μm which were aligned parallel to the camphene growth direction. Also, the internal walls of the large pores had relatively small pores. The size of the large pores decreased with increasing CuO-SnO2 content due to the change of the degree of powder rearrangement in the slurry. The size of the small pores decreased with increase of the sintering temperature from 650˚C to 750˚C, while that of the large pores was unchanged. These results suggest that a porous alloy body with aligned large pores can be fabricated by a freeze-drying and hydrogen reduction process using oxide powders.

        This study investigated the effects of drying methods and drying time on the changes in anthocyanin content in colored barley. Colored barley cultivar Boanchalbori was harvested at a time when the anthocyanin content was the most and dried in afield. The harvested barley was then treated by two methods, sun drying and shade drying, for 4, 8, 24, and 32 h. The moisture content of the sun-dried barley decreased slightly faster than shade-dried samples, but the difference was not statistically significant. Chemical analysis indicated that the samples dried under shaded conditions had slightly higher crude fiber and lower nitrogen free extract, but the difference was not statistically significant. There was no difference in the total digestible nutrients between the two methods. In the case of sun-dried barley, the anthocyanin content decreased compared to the control and shade-dried samples after drying for 4 h (p < 0.05), was maintained at a constant level at 24 h, and then decreased at 32 h. In case of shade-dried barley, the anthocyanin content decreased gradually with the drying time, and a significant decrease was found at 24 h of drying (p<0.05) as compared to the control. The shade-dried method was more successful in reducing anthocyanin loss than the sun-dried method (p<0.05). There was a slight decrease in 1,1-Diphenyl-2-Picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging with drying time in the shade-dried method, and a significant decrease after 4 h with the sun-dried method. These results showed that covering with a two-layer awning was advantageous to dry colored barley in the field conditions.

        본 연구에서는 건조방법에 따른 잣솔잎 추출액 분말의 항산화적 특성과 성분변화를 조사하고자 생 잣솔잎을 진공건조, 열풍건조, 동결건조한 후 50% 에탄올로 추출하여 항산화적 활성 및 페놀산 함량에 미치는 영향을 비교하였다. 각건조방법으로 건조시킨 잣솔잎 추출액 분말의 수율은 진공건조 시료가 31.06%로 가장 높았으며, 다음으로 열풍건조시료 및 동결건조 시료의 순으로 나타났다. 총 폴리페놀 함량은 열풍건조 시료가 유의적으로 적었으며(p<0.05), 반면플라보노이드의 함량은 총 폴리페놀 함량과 반대의 경향으로 열풍건조 시료에서 유의적으로 높게 나타났다(p<0.05). 전자공여능 및 ABTS radical 소거능은 1.0mg/mL 농도에서동결건조>진공건조>열풍건조 시료의 순으로 높은 활성을나타내었다. 건조방법별 아질산염 소거능은 반응조건의 pH를 1.2와 3.0으로 달리하여 각각 측정한 결과 pH 1.2의 강산성 조건에서 잣솔잎의 아질산염 소거능이 80% 이상으로높은 활성을 나타내었으며, 진공건조 시료가 유의적으로 높은 활성을 나타내었다(p<0.05). 잣솔잎 추출물의 페놀산 조성과 함량은 t-cinnamic acid가 잣솔잎 중에 가장 많은 함량을 차지하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며 chlorogenic acid의 함량이 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 건조방법에 따른 추출물의 페놀산 함량은 페놀산의 종류에 따라 건조방법 별 함량의 차이를 보였으나, 모든 페놀산을 합한 총 페놀산 함량은열풍건조, 진공건조 및 동결건조 순으로 나타났다.

        본 연구는 건조 공정을 통하여 인삼의 생리 활성을 유지하기 위해 수행되었다. 인삼의 생리활성을 유지하면서 인삼을 건조하기 위해서 낮은 온도와 압력에서의 균형 잡힌 감압 건조 공정을 적용하였다. 감압 건조 공정은 일반적인 열풍 건조보다 긴 공정 시간이 걸리지만 훨씬 낮은 온도에서 건조를 진행할 수 있기 때문에 열에 불안정한 인삼의 다당류의 파괴를 막을 수 있으며, 동결건조 공정보다 낮은 에너지로도 비슷한 생리 활성을 유지할 수 있어 경제적으로도 이점이 있다. 이러한 결과는 열풍건조 공정의 단점인 높은 온도로 인한 페놀성 화합물과 같은 휘발성 생리 활성 성분들의 파괴를 줄여 높은 항산화 활성을 유지하였다. 더 나아가, 감압건조 공정을 통한 건조인삼의 열수 추출물은 열풍건조와 동결건조 공정을 통한 건조인삼 보다 면역 B세포와 T 세포의 생육도가 증진되었으며, IL-6와 TNF-α와 같은 cytokine의 분비량도 증가하였다. 이러한 결과는 낮은 온도와 압력의 감압 건조 공정을 인삼에 함유된 진세노사이드 외의 열에 약한 성분들의 파괴를 막아 생리활성의 저하를 줄일 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

        본 연구는 순환형 감압 건조 장치를 제작하여 이를 통해 건조한 김치의 품질 변화를 연구하였다. 종래 건조 기술인 열풍 건조 방법은 60oC 이상의 열풍에 노출시키는 방법으로 40oC 이상의 높은 온도로 높아지면 식품에 함유되어 있는 성분들이 파괴되거나 변형되어 품질이 저하되고, 외형사의 변형을 일으켜 소비자들에게 거부감을 가질 수 있다. 동결 건조 방법은 -50oC 이하의 온도와 진공 상태에서 건조하는 방법으로 열풍 건조의 문제점인 식품의 변형 및 영양소의 파괴를 막을 수 있지만, 24시간 이상의 건조 시간 및 높은 비용으로 생산 효율이 나쁘다는 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 순환형 감압 건조 장치를 제작하여 본 연구에 적용하였다. 건조 시간 별 함수율에서는 순환형 감압 건조의 건조 속도가 10시간으로 가장 짧았으며, 함수율도 시간 별로 일정하게 감소하여 가장 효율적인 건조방법으로 나타났다. drying rate 또한 순환형 감압 건조의 변화 폭이 가장 짧고 안정적으로 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따른 건조 수율 또한 가장 높게 나타났다. pH, 적정산도 및 염도 측정은 순환형 감압 건조 김치가 일반 건조 전 김치와 비교하여 비슷한 수치를 보여 특성 변화 없이 안정적으로 건조가 되었다. 건조 김치의색도는 순환형 감압 건조 김치의 적색도가 일반 건조 전김치와 가장 비슷한 수치를 나타내어 pH, 적정산도 및 염도의 결과와 함께 가장 안정적으로 건조된 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 향기 성분의 분석에서도 건조 전 김치의 황화물과 ethanol 및 acetic acid 등의 성분함량과 비슷한 수치를 나타내어 순환형 감압 건조 과정에 있어 김치의 풍미를 유지하였다. 관능 평가의 경우 색과 Texture에서 감압 건조김치가 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 순환형 감압건조 방법을 이용하여 김치 등의 식품을 건조하는 것이 가장 안정적이고 우수한 건조 방법으로 나타났다. 이러한 건조 김치의 품질 평가를 통하여 순환형 감압 건조 김치가 가장 안정적이고 효율적인 건조 방법이라는 것을 알 수 있었으며 이러한 건조 방법을 이용하여 김치를 상품화 한다면 기능성 식품으로 다양한 식품으로 활용하는데 가능성이 큰 것으로 기대된다.

        Graphene oxide powders prepared by two different drying processes, freeze drying and spray drying, were studied to compare the effect of the drying method on the physical properties of graphene oxide powder. The graphene oxide dispersion was prepared from graphite by chemical delamination with the aid of sulfuric acid and permanganic acid, and the dispersion was further washed and re-dispersed in a mixed solvent of water and isopropyl alcohol. A freeze drying method can feasibly minimize damage to the sample, but it requires a long process time. In contrast, spray drying is able to remove a solvent in a relatively short time, though this process requires exposure to a high temperature for a rapid evaporation of the solvent. The powders prepared by freeze drying and spray drying were characterized and compared by Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and by an elemental analysis. The graphene oxide powders showed similar chemical compositions; however, the morphologies of the powders differed in that the graphene oxide prepared by spray drying had a winkled morphology and a higher apparent density compared to the powder prepared by freeze drying. The graphene oxide powders were reduced at 900˚C in an atmosphere of N2. The effect of the drying process on the properties of the reduced graphene oxide was examined by SEM, TEM and Raman spectroscopy.

        In this study, we fabricated Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic powders with various sizes via spray drying combined with reduction-diffusion process. Spray drying is widely used to produce nearly spherical particles that are relatively homogeneous. Thus, the precursor particles were prepared by spray drying using the aqueous solution containing Nd salts, Fe salts and boric acid with the target stoichiometric composition of Nd2Fe14B. The mean particle sizes of the spray-dried powders are in the range from one to seven micrometer, which are adjusted by controlling the concentra- tions of precursor solutions. After debinding the as-prepared precursor particles, ball milling was also conducted to con- trol the particle sizes of Nd-Fe-B oxide powders. The resulting particles with different sizes were subjected to subsequent treatments including hydrogen reduction, Ca reduction and washing for CaO removal. The size effect of Nd-Fe-B oxide particles on the formation of Nd2Fe14B phase and magnetic properties was investigated.

        Expanded graphite (EG) was prepared using a drying process for application as an oil-adsorbent: the morphology, expansion volume, and oil absorption capacity of the EG were investigated. The expanded volume of the EG increased with an increasing reaction time and heat treatment temperature. The oil adsorption capacity of the EG was 45 g of n-dodecane per 1 g of EG. It is noted that the drying process of EG is a useful technique for a new oil-adsorbent.

        Freeze drying for porous Mo was accomplished by using MoO3 powder as the source and camphor-naph- thalene eutectic system as the sublimable material. Eutectic composition of camphor-naphthalene slurries with the initial MoO3 content of 5 vol%, prepared by milling at 55o C with a small amount of oligomeric dispersant, was frozen at -25o C. The addition of dispersant showed improvement of dispersion stability in slurries. Pores were generated subse- quently by sublimation of the camphor-naphthalene during drying in air for 48 h. To convert the MoO3 to metallic Mo, the green body was hydrogen-reduced at 750o C, and sintered at 1100o C for 2 h. The sintered samples, frozen by heated Teflon cylinder, showed large pores with the size of about 40 µm which were aligned parallel to the sublimable vehicles growth direction. The formation of unidirectionally aligned pores is explained by the rejection and accumulation of solid particles in the serrated solid-liquid interface.

        Porous Ti-systems with unidirectionally aligned channels were synthesized by freeze-drying and a heat treatment process. TiH2 powder and camphene were used as the source materials of Ti and sublimable vehicles, respectively. Camphene slurries with TiH2 content of 10 and 15 vol% were prepared by milling at 50˚C with a small amount of oligomeric polyester dispersant. Freezing of the slurry was done in a Teflon cylinder attached to a copper bottom plate cooled at -25˚C while unidirectionally controlling the growth direction of the camphene. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphene during drying in air for 48 h. The green body was heat-treated at 1100˚C for 1 h in a nitrogen and air atmosphere. XRD analysis revealed that the samples composed of TiN and TiO2 phase were dependent on the heat-treatment atmosphere. The sintered samples showed large pores of about 120 mm which were aligned parallel to the camphene growth direction. The internal wall of the large pores had relatively small pores with a dendritic structure due to the growth of camphene dendrite depending on the degree of nucleation and powder rearrangement in the slurry. These results suggest that a porous body with an appropriate microstructure can be successfully fabricated by freeze-drying and a controlled sintering process of a camphene/TiH2 slurry.
