        본 연구는 동물병원을 방문하거나 펫 앱을 사용하는 반려동물 소유주를 대상으로 수행되었고, 이들의 사육상황, 식용곤충을 사용하는 사료와 기능성 펫 사료에 대한 인지도와 구매의사를 조사 분석하였다. 조사결과, 조사대상의 89.5%가 개나 고양이와 같은 반려동물을 키우고 있었고, 55.6%가 식용곤충을 이용한 반려동물사료에 대해 알고 있었다. 식용곤충을 사용한 반려동물사료에 대해 구매의사를 물었을 때 48.5%가 구매의사를 보였고, 51.5%가 불구매 의사를 보였다. 구매의 주요 이유로는 낮은 알러지 가능성과 높은 영양성을 언급하였고, 불구매 의사의 주요 이유로는 식용곤충에 대한 거부감으로 조사되었다.

        Development of pellet-type artificial diet for insect was tried by using a twin screw extruder(TSE). Screws were arranged several times and two reverse screws were equipped on the foreparts of 2 axes of TSE. Pellet-type diet could be produced successfully under conditions of TSE set as the following. , 300 rpm of main motor speed, 228 rpm of feed motor speed, 75㎖/min of running water speed and 5 ㎜ of extrusion diameter. The optimum adding quantity of water to the manufactured diet was 1.2~1.5 times of dry diet. On the rearing results of beet armyworm, Spodoptera exigua and common cutworm, Spodoptera litura with the pellet-type diet, the final survival ratio (emergence rate) of these two species was over than 50%, and so it was concluded that the manufactured pellet-type artificial diet was sufficient dietetically to rear those insects.

        The effect of insect feed powder on the growth performance and economic evaluation of ducks was investigated. One hundred and twenty-old Pekin ducks were randomly assigned to two dietary treatments (0% and 1% Hermetia illucens powder) with three replicates of 20 birds each for 14-42 d. No significant (p>0.05) difference in growth performance between the control and 1% H. illucens powder was observed, except the feed conversion ratio (p<0.05), for the experimental period. The treatments with 1% H. illucens powder improved the economic indicators in comparison with the controls. Therefore, a diet supplemented with 1% H. illucens powder could significantly improve the feed conversion ratios and increase the economic indicators.
