본 연구의 목적은 자기공명영상을 이용하여 외국인 환자를 검사할 때 언어의 소통을 위하여 자동음성시 스템을 개발하고자 하였다. 자동음성을 위해 사용된 문장은 병원에서 자주 사용하고 있는 12개의 문장과 5개의 외국어를 선택하였다. 이러한 번역된 문장은 Oddcast’s website로 부터 무료로 제공되며 Wav 파일로서 각 언어 특징에 소리로 기록하게 된다. 기록된 오디오 파일은 Mobile phone 환경에서 적용되는 PHP 프로그램을 사용하여 MS-파워포인트(extension; ppsx) 와 Web-enabled system 형태로 재생하게 된다. 음성 시스템 개발은 방사선사에게 언어 소통의 어려움에 관하여 스트레스를 해소될 것이며, 다양한 언어로 설계된 자동음성시스템은 외국인 환자를 검사 할 때 환자에게 진단적 정보를 증가시킬 것이다. 본 연구를 위해 개발된 음성 시스템은 한국의 방사선사와 외국인 환자 사이에서 검사의 이해를 증가시킬 수 있기 때문에 임상실무에서 더욱더 유용하게 이용될 것이라고 기대된다.

In Korean, the onset constraints based on the sonority preference have the following hierarchy in the initial position of word : *ONS/RHO >> *ONS/LAT >> *ONS/NAS, and it offers a possible explanation for the prohibition on word-initial lateral. However, *med[ONS/NAS dominates *med[ONS/LAT (and *med[ONS/RHO) in the middle of word. Lateralization and nasalization in Korean are the phonological variation to equalize the sonority between the coda and its following onset according to *med[ONS/NAS >> *med[ONS/LAT without violating SYLLCON and IDENT-IO(cor/ant). However, this hierarchy cannot explain why both nasalization and lateralization are possible in case of /n.l/. To find out the reason, the phonetic experiment was conducted with the subjects who speak Daegue dialect, one of Kyeongsang dialect that is considered a pitch language. According to the precedent studies, neutralization does not occur at the strong position. In case of /n.l/, when subjects pronounce the syllable with /n/ using higher pitch than the following syllable with /l/, the syllable with /n/ becomes a phonetically strong position. Accordingly, /n/ can not be pronounced as /l/ by lateralization and instead, /l/ of the following syllable is pronounced as /n/ by nasalization. If subjects pronounce the syllable with /n/ and the following syllable with /l/ with the same pitch, lateralization occurs. The pronunciation of /n.l/ can be explained by phonetically strong position, not by constraints hierarchy.

XX male syndrome is a genetic disease associated with gender dysplasia and characterized by a spectrum of clinical presentations, which range from ambiguous to normal male genitalia. The incidence of XX male syndrome is about 1 per 20,000- 25,000. The majority of XX males with SRY gene have normal genitalia, whereas most SRY-negative cases have ambiguous genitalia. Here, we report a case of a SRY-negative XX male with ambiguous genitalia.

This paper addresses a design issue of “model complexity and performance trade-off” in the application of bandwidth extension (BWE) methods to the intra-frame predictive vector quantization problem of wideband speech. It discusses model-based linear and non-linear prediction methods and presents a comparative study of them in terms of prediction gain. Through experimentation, the general trend of saturation in performance (with the increase in model complexity) is observed. However, specifically, it is also observed that there is no significant difference between HMM and GMM-based BWE functions.

Pueraria lobata (Willd.) Ohwi was investigated to check its modulatory effects on the activation of macrophages upon inflammatory conditions treatment. For this purpose, we examined several inflammatory responses such as nitric oxide (NO) production, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, cytoprotection and phagocytosis under the treatment of methanol extract from P. lobata (Pl-ME). Pl-ME dose-dependently blocked NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)- stimulated RAW264.7 cells but not sodium prusside (SNP)-generated NO release. The NO inhibition seemed to be due to blocking inducible NO synthase (iNOS), since Pl-ME suppressed its expression in a NF-kB-independent manner. Similarly, this extract also effectively protected RAW264.7 cells from LPS-induced cytotoxicity. However, Pl-ME did not block ROS generation and rather it enhanced. Finally, this extract negatively modulated FITC-dextran uptake. Therefore, our data suggested that Pl-ME may be involved in negatively regulating some macrophage-mediated inflammatory responses such as NO production and phagocytic uptake.

최근 게임에도 다국어를 대상으로 하는 음성인식에 대한 요구와 여러 나라의 서로 다른 언어로 표현된 음성을 하나의 음성 모델로 표현하는 다국어 시스템의 개발에 대한 필요성이 점차 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 다양한 언어로 구성되어 있는 음성을 하나의 음성 모델로 표현할 수 있는 다국어 음성인식 시스템의 발전에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 다국어 음성 모델을 통합적으로 구축하기 위한 기본 연구로 한국어 음성과 영어 음성을 국제음소기호(IPA)로 인식하는 시스템을 연구하였고 한국어와 영어 음소를 동시에 만족하는 IPA모델을 찾는데 중점을 두어 실험한 결과 한국어 음성에 대하여 90.62%, 영어 음성에 대하여 91.71%라는 인식률을 얻을 수 있었다.

The antibacterial effects of anodic electrolyzed water against various bacteria were studied in this investigation. Complete inactivation of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria occurred within 15 s after exposure to anodic electrolyzed water. Moreover, 1/2, 1/5 and 1/10 diluted anodic electrolyzed water by adding deionized water showed strong antibacterial effects. However, the inhibitory effect of anodic electrolyzed water on the anaerobe of Propionibacterium acnes was much weaker than that on the aerobes, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The degraded fragments of E. coli cell were observed upon treating anodic electrolyzed water for 1 min by using scanning electron microscopy.

자동 음성 인식(Automatic Speech Recognition)기술은 세계적인 의사소통과 협력을 원활히 할 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다. 현재까지 대부분의 연구들은 주로 사용되는 단일 언어의 말하기에만 집중되어 있다. 따라서 다른 언어들과 함께 사용되는 특정 ASR 시스템을 도입하는 데에는 비싼 비용이 뒤따른다. 본 논문은 다국어 음성 인식에 대한 일반적 접근으로 각 나라 언어를 대표한 발음사전(어휘모델)을 만들기 위하여 음성 인식에 이용하는 어휘 모델을 만들기 위하여 음소 언어 인식(PLI, Phonetic Language Identity) 형식의 입력된 파일을 해석하는 국제 음소 엔진(IPE, International Phoneticizing Engine)를 제안한다. IPE는 독립적이며 규칙을 기본으로 한다. 어휘모델 생성 과정은 Java 언어로 구현된 프로그램에 의해 이루어지고, 이 과정들은 규칙 상충을 줄여주며, 언어학적 훈련을 받지 않은 사람의 규칙 생성도 가능하게 한다. IPE에 의해 생성된 어휘모델을 연속 음성 인식기에 적용한 결과 우리말 인식률이 92.55%, 영어에 대하여 89.93%를 얻었다.

Arguing for the Extended Projection Principle (EPP)--the subject position must be filled in overt syntax, Lasnik and Park (L&P, 2003) claim that the Subject Condition effect in sluices is derived from a PF chain processing mechanism on the first chain first processing basis. This paper, however, argues that this should be achieved through the opposite ordering of chain processing to avoid problems arising from L&P. Pointing out that the Subject Condition conceived as a condition on derivation is needed, this paper proposes alternative derivation of the sluices involving PP extraction out of subject that can avoid a violation of the Subject Condition. The representation resulting from this alternative derivation is then subject to a condition similar to the Proper Binding Condition, and the redemption effect in sluices is thus naturally obtained by Sluicing. This paper also offers a possibility of deriving the EPP effect from the Case Filter differently from L&P.

Sun-Woong Kim. 2001. A Study on the EPP in the Minimalist Program: the EPP as a PF Requirement. Studies in Modern Grammar 24, 47-66. The general aim of this paper is to explore the nature and role of the EPP within the Minimalist Program of generative grammar. This paper draws the conclusion that the EPP effect is captured by V to I head movement. Specifically, the EPP effect will be shown to be a side effect or epiphenomena of the head movement at PF (Chomsky 1999) plus an effect of configurationally defined θ-theory. This conclusion will be shown to remedy drawbacks of recent proposals of Kim (2000) and Jang (2000). This paper also attempts to reject the morphological feature checking approach to the EPP, whether it is a categorial feature checking or a Case feature checking. Furthermore, if head movement is a PF process, it can be concluded that the EPP effect is eventually a PF requirement that the Spec-T must be filled with some category that contains argumenthood in it. If the conclusions of this paper are on the right track, Lasnik`s (2000) doubt that only the EPP is configurational can be solved in a natural way.
