In weapon assignment studies to defend against threats such as ballistic missiles and long range artillery, threat assessment was partially lacking in analysis of various threat attributes, and considering the threat characteristics of warheads, which are difficult to judge in the early flight stages, it is very important to apply more reliable optimal solutions than approximate solution using LP model, Meta heuristics Genetic Algorithm, Tabu search and Particle swarm optimization etc. Our studies suggest Generic Rule based threat evaluation and weapon assignment algorithm in the basis of various attributes of threats. First job of studies analyzes information on Various attributes such as the type of target, Flight trajectory and flight time, range and intercept altitude of the intercept system, etc. Second job of studies propose Rule based threat evaluation and weapon assignment algorithm were applied to obtain a more reliable solution by reflection the importance of the interception system. It analyzes ballistic missiles and long-range artillery was assigned to multiple intercept system by real time threat assessment reflecting various threat information. The results of this study are provided reliable solution for Weapon Assignment problem as well as considered to be applicable to establishing a missile and long range artillery defense system.

The increasing use of ballistic missiles as a means of delivering weapons of mass destruction in the course of military activities constitutes a new threat to civil aviation safety. Ballistic missiles are considered as a new form of offense and defense. These challenges may come in the form of warheads, carried by the missiles, with the possibility to explode at any time in air, or the long ranges of the missiles that bring them close to flight routes, which may endanger civil passengers. The multilateral treaty on ballistic missile prohibition is nonbinding in nature, voluntary and has a limited duration puts civil aviation safety at risk. Therefore, regulating ballistic missile in a binding manner are urgently needed to ensure civil aviation safety.

When offense launches missiles at valuable assets of the defense, the defense must assign its weapons to these missiles so as to maximize the total value of surviving assets threatened by them. Recently, a new asset-based linear approximation model was proposed for weapon target assignment problem with shootlook- shoot engagement policy and fixed set-up time between each anti-missile launch from each defense unit. In this paper, we apply the proposed to several ballistic missile defense examples and we show their weapon target assignment results specified with launch order time.

The monolithic glass, without damage, subjected to ballistic impact, is studied by the use of the coded finite element program. To analyze the impact response of monolithic glass like ordinary annealed glass and tempered glass, a finite element approach based on the Hertzian contact law and Sun's higher-order beam finite element is proposed. For verifying effectiveness of this finite element program, the contact force history is analyzed in conjunction with the loading and unloading processes. And, also, the time history of the impact responses such as the strain and stress according to the thickness changes due to transverse impact at the center are calculated

The microstructure of the 1020 mild steel target in the region ahead of craters, made by colliding against Cu and W-Cu shaped-charge jets. has been investigated in the present work. The region ahead of the crater impacted by the Cu shaped-charge jet reveals grain refinement implying the formation of sub-grains, while that of W-Cu one leads to martensitic transformation indicating that the region was heated up to an austenitic region which was followed by rapid cooling. The pressure of W-Cu shaped-charge jet impacting against the target when calculated is higher than that of Cu one. The microhardness of the region ahead of the crater impacted by the W-Cu shaped-charge jet is also higher than that of the Cu one. The microstructure of W-Cu slug that remains inside of the crater depicts the occurrence of the remarkable elongation of W particles during the liner collapse. The microstructural evolution of the region ahead of the crater is discussed on the basis of the pressure dependency of the ferrite/austenite transformation in the steel.

This paper studies the problem of tracking a re-entry vehicle (RV) in order to predict its impact point on the ground. Re-entry target dynamics combined with super-high speed has a complex non-linearity due to ballistic coefficient variations. However, it is difficult to construct a database for the ballistic coefficient of a unknown vehicle for a wide range of variations, thus the reliability of target tracking performance cannot be guaranteed if accurate ballistic coefficient estimation is not achieved. Various techniques for ballistic coefficient estimation have been previously proposed, but limitations exist for the estimation of non-linear parts accurately without obtaining prior information. In this paper we propose the ballistic coefficient β model-based interacting multiple model-extended Kalman filter (β-IMM-EKF) for precise tracking of an RV. To evaluate the performance, other ballistic coefficient model based filters, which are gamma augmented filter, gamma bootstrapped filter were compared and assessed with the proposed β-IMM-EKF for precise tracking of an RV.
