        아스팔트는 점성이 높은 도로포장 재료로서 골재와 채움재를 결합시키는 역할을 하는 중요한 재료이다. 아스팔트 콘크 리트는 생산 및 시공 과정에서 혼합물이 장비에 부착되는 현상이 발생하여 생산 효율 및 성능 저하를 유발하기도 한다. 이와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위하여 석유류와 식물성 기름을 부착방지제(Asphalt Release Agent)로 사용하고 있다. 하지 만 석유류는 단시간에 아스팔트를 용해시켜 혼합물의 성능 저하를 유발할 수 있고, 발생하는 유증기로 인해 작업자를 위 험에 노출시킬 수 있다. 식물성 기름은 석유류에 비해 아스팔트에 대한 용해력은 다소 작지만 석유류와 동일한 문제를 야기하며 제품 단가로 인해 높은 비용을 발생시킨다. 이에 따라 아스팔트 혼합물 생산 및 시공현장에서 저독성이며 친환 경적인 부착방지제의 중요도가 상승하고 있다.

        PURPOSES : In this study, high-viscosity grout for increasing ground stiffness is developed using industrial byproducts. METHODS : Based on literature review, the viscosity and viscosity expression time of domestic and foreign anti-washout admixture underwater were evaluated. In addition, grout was prepared by mixing 5% to 40% of fly ash (FA) in a standard mixture. Flow, setting time, and compressive strength tests were conducted to evaluate the quality of the grout. RESULTS : Experimental results show that the viscosity required is 35,000 to 40,000 cps, whereas the viscosity expression time required exceeds 300 min. As the amount of FA used for grouting increases, the physical and mechanical performances deteriorate. The strength of a test specimen manufactured underwater is lower than that of a test specimen manufactured under air, and the decrease on day 28 is lower than that on day 3. The FA applied to the grout should be less than 20%. CONCLUSIONS : Although industrial byproducts, which exhibit high viscosity, offer excellent mechanical performance and are thus suitable as a solidifying agent for strengthening grout, their application in the field must be evaluated.

        Viscosity is a fundamental physical property that is important in any system in which fluid movement occurs. In addition, most of the elements exist as ions in molten state in high-temperature molten salt, and electrical conductivity in such molten state is closely related to viscosity as a transport property. Molten salt reactor (MSR) and pyroprocess are representative processes dealing with high-temperature molten salts, actinide elements, and other radioactive materials. In MSR and pyroprocesses, the viscosity data must be provided as one of the fundamental physical property data required for safe process operations and countermeasures to severe accidents. In order to measure the viscosity of highly corrosive molten salt at high temperatures, we have built a in-house developed molten salt viscosity measurement system based on the Brookfield rotationary viscometer. We also developed a special correction technique to improve the accuracy of the viscosity measurement. In this study, the viscosity was measured at 500°C for NaCl-MgCl2 molten salt, which is selected as the base salt material of MSR system under development in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), using our viscosity measurement system installed in a oxygen- and moisture-free Ar-atmosphere glovebox. Our viscosity measurement system was calibrated using a LiCl-KCl eutectic mixture with well-known viscosity value, and viscosity values obtained using our own correction methodology were compared with those of other conventional correction methods. In our further study, we plan to measure the NaCl-MgCl2-UCl3 system at various compositions and temperatures.

        Measurement of the physical properties of high-temperature molten salts is important for the efficient design and operation of molten salt reactors (MSR) in which the reactor coolant and nuclear fuel are in a homogeneous liquid state. Although some crucial physical properties such as viscosity, thermal conductivity, density, etc., have been drawing much attention, relative data, especially for molten chloride salts, are scarce. Thus, it is urgent to prepare the viscosity data as one of the key transport properties in thermal hydraulics analysis. However, it is not an easy task to measure the molten salt viscosity with high accuracy due to end effect, a small gap between the chamber and spindle, thermal expansion of the chamber and spindle at high temperatures in a rotational viscometer. Additionally, molten salt temperatures inside furnace are not uniform due to the large temperature gradient inside the chamber, and therefore the assumption of laminar condition can be violated. In this study, geometric factors, which can be a major interference in the torque measurement, were considered for the accurate determination of the viscosity. We established a high-temperature molten salt viscosity measurement system with Brookfield rotational viscometer. KNO3 molten salt was used as a model substance at a temperature range of 650–773 K. In-house designed spindles and chambers were made of corrosion-resistant alumina. Thermal expansion has a significant influence on the size and shape of the chamber and spindle. The effect of thermal expansion on the conventional correction method was examined with temperature variation and distribution. Gap size variation was also investigated in order to improve the accuracy.

        PURPOSES : This study evaluates the mechanical properties of high-viscosity polymer-modified asphalt binders using PG and MSCR tests. METHODS : Using the Superpave asphalt binder performance grade (PG) and multi-stress creep recovery (MSCR) test methods, the linear (dynamic shear modulus, stiffness, and viscosity) and non-linear properties — i.e., non-recoverable compliance (Jnr) and recoverable shear strain % recovery — of 16 different types (SBS, SIS, PE, PP) of polymer-modified asphalt binders were assessed. RESULTS : Based on the viscosity testing results. Most PG 82 binders did not meet the criterion of 3 Pa ·s. This indicates that they need to increase the mixing and compaction temperatures to reduce the high viscosity. The MSCR % Jnr results demonstrated that PG 76, PG 82–22, and PG 82-28/34 binders were below 1.0, 0.5, and 0.2, respectively. In addition, the MSCR % recovery results showed that PG 76, PG82-22, and PG82-28/34 were above 35 %, 55 %, and 80 %, respectively. CONCLUSIONS : It was found that the % Jnr decreased with an increase in the high-temperature PG of the asphalt binder, whereas the % recovery increased as the low-temperature PG of the binder increased.

        Various electronic control parts and devices installed in electric vehicles have greatly improved the convenience of occupants, but electromagnetic waves emitted from electronic devices have greatly increased concerns about malfunctions, deterioration of performance, safety accidents, etc. There are two models of analysis. Case A is symmetrical about one axis of rotation. Case B has two axes of rotation. In this study, a flow analysis was conducted to find excellent flow conditions in the mixing process to develop a paint with excellent electromagnetic shielding and thermal insulation performance. The results of the flow analysis are reflected in manufacturing specifications and are intended to be used to develop high-quality systems.

        원유나 벙커C유와 같은 지속성 기름이 해상에 유출되면 풍화과정을 거쳐 점도가 높아지고, 부유 쓰레기와 섞이게 되면 이를 수거할 수 있는 장비는 매우 제한적이다. 본 연구에서는 기존 유회수기의 외부에 위치한 부속장치들을 본체 내부로 배치하고, 컨베이어 벨트와 강제유입장치인 스위퍼 및 부력체를 탑재한 수집조로 구성하여 자항과 리모트컨트롤이 가능한 무인 컨베이어 벨트식 부유쓰레기 및 고점도유 회수장비를 개발하였다. 실해역 테스트에서 30 m의 거리를 1.2 knots의 속도로 자항하며, 전 후, 좌 우에서 안정적인 균형유지와 구동부의 정상작동을 확인하였다. 임시저장조를 이용한 유회수 성능테스트 결과, 최소 7.8 ㎘/h에서 최대 23.3 ㎘/h까지 유출유 회수가 가능하였다. 또한, 페트병 등 부유쓰레기와 유출된 기름이 혼합된 조파수조에서 실시한 회수량 측정 테스트 결과는 7.7 ㎘/h로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 장비가 해상기름오염사고 시 현장에 신속하게 투입된다면 방제능력 향상에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대하며, 현재 운용중인 Portable 유회수기의 성능개선 연구에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        Biodiesel as alternative energy source of the traditional petroleum fuels has increased interest, because environmental pollution based exhaust emissions from vehicle became serious. The advantage of biodiesel produced from esterification of vegetable and animal oils can be used without the modification of existing diesel engine, but glycerin is generated by production process. In this study, the usability of non-esterification biodiesel as an alternative fuel was investigated in a indirect injection diesel engine. The non-esterification biodiesel has not generated glycerin in esterification process and reduced the 20 percent of cost because it has not used methanol in the production process. Experiments were conducted by using the 5, 10 and 20 percentage of biodiesel and 4 and 8 percentage of biodiesel with 1 and 2 percentage of WDP in baseline diesel fuel. The smoke emission of biodiesel was reduced in comparison with diesel fuel, but power, torque and brake specific energy consumption was similar to diesel fuel.

        The purpose of this study is to develop the flowmeter of high viscosity paint spraying system. In this study, the numerical flow analysis of the flowmeter was performed. The velocity and the pressure distributions were obtained using the turbulent SST(Shear Stress Transport) model. The ICEM-CFD13 and CFXMesher, reliable grid generation software was also adapted to secure high quality grid necessary for the reliable analysis. According to the simulation results, the flow rate of flowmeter is 6.49l/min in case of Δp=45bar. This result was in good agreement with design result and could be applied to the actual design of the high viscosity paint spraying system

This study shows the results on the durability of diesel engine with 4% biodiesel and WDP 1% as an alternative fuel during 110 hours. Engine dynamometer testing was complete at regularly scheduled intervals to monitor the engine performance an exhaust emissions. Through this experimental result, there was no clogging of the nozzle tip, and there was not carbon deposit on the injector tip. And, there was no unusual deterioration of the engine, or any unusual change in exhaust emission from using the blending fuel.

        In this study, viscosity was minimized for production of viscosity-agent type high fluidity concrete with normal strength, and segregation resistance was maximized with viscosity agent and use of superplasticizer. Their applicability and physical property were examined.
