Port clusters have been major concept driving competitiveness and creating an edge over other ports over a period. The clusters also have been developing in many geographical regions across the world due to various factors depending on the location and need of the region. The purpose of this research article is to study various factors affecting the Port clusters growth in Malaysia and to identify the main factors based on the variance. The responses for the factors affecting the Port clusters have been collected using the Likert scale, and Principal component analysis has been used. Four prominent factors have been identified among 19 factors based on variance using Principal component analysis. Shipping services and primary service providers were found to be major factors for the growth of Port Clusters in Malaysia. The article brings forth that there is a need for government to formulate policy concentrating towards the growth of the Shipping services lined shipping lines and primary service providers like Custom house agents and stevedoring agents for the development of port clusters in countries like Malaysia. The study shows the need to focus on Port clusters and factors that affect the development of the same.
The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of a port throttling and 1/4 diagonal port masking of an intake port of an SI engine. The fuel consumption rate increased with port throttling and masking under all operating conditions. However, the rapid combustion effect was increased in all operating conditions. It is consider that this is more influential on the suction resistance than the combustion efficiency increase through intake control. In addition, the increase in the burning velocity indicates that the flame propagation speed is increased by increasing the swirl moment during combustion.
Along with the drastic competition among ports, the strive for the vast economic hinterland and the supply of goods have become strategic problems for port operators. At the same time, port enterprises are paying more and more attention to the construction of dry ports. This article establishes the port cooperation performance evaluation index based on the balanced score card method and uses the grey relational degree method to evaluate the cooperation performance between seaports and dry ports. Finally using Qingdao port and Xi'an port as an example, and Zhengzhou port and Lanzhou port as benchmarks, the application of this evaluation method is introduced in detail. The conclusion reveals that cooperation between Qingdao port and Xi'an port has deficiencies in customer satisfaction, financial cooperation and non-market tools. Alongside this, the author proposes related issues about information management in the supply chain, competition position and the scope of hinterland. This article, combined with the related theory of supply chain and performance evaluation, puts forward a set of relatively complete cooperation performance evaluations between seaports and dry ports, which provide scientific theory support for better cooperation.
In order to investigate the effectiveness of methanol, which has high latent heat of evaporation and oxygen contents, for DI diesel engine performance and exhaust emission, the methanol was injected at the suction port of DI diesel engine. The injector used for test was conventional gasoline engine injector and controlled the quantity of methanol per cycle by the power supply controller which designed specially for injector. The results shown that the maximum pressure point was delayed, the value of maximum pressure was decreased, and the concentrations of both NOx and Soot were decreased, as the methanol injection quantity increased, and also the thermal efficiency of engine injected methanol under the high load condition was similar to no methanol injection but under the medium load condition was decreased within the experimental conditions.
The need for improved port call performance in African ports is way overdue as none of the African sea ports appear on the top 100 sea ports in the World as presented by the Lloyds list. The performance of ports greatly serves and benefits various stakeholders besides the country in which they belong. These stakeholders do include but not limited to third-party logistics providers, vessel/ship owners etc hence the need to improve port call performance is critical. There is not much studies available that tackle the issue of port call performance a hence creating a gap which this study opted to fill and contribute towards the assessment of Africa maritime trade contributors port call performance as most of the ports in Africa are deemed not efficient. Hence this analysis aimed at analyzing the performance of African top ten leading countries that contribute to the global maritime trade and later combine both African countries and the world’s top ten leading maritime trading countries as a benchmark to establish an improvement strategy from which low performing DMUs in the analysis were to borrow a leaf from. Having conducted the study, some African countries came out to be more performing. A few adjustments are to be made for them to improve their port call performance. However, their performance was still above average in comparison to the world’s leading countries that posed as benchmark and a standard port call performance operation strategy.
항만의 주요 정책 및 향후 운영계획 수립 시 정확한 물동량 예측에 관한 연구는 매우 중요하며 이러한 중요성으로 인해 관련 연구가 활발히 수행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국내 최대 석탄 및 철광석 처리 항만인 광양항을 대상으로 단계적 회귀분석과 인공신경망모형을 활용하여 모형간 예측력을 비교하였다. 2009년 1월부터 2019년 1월까지 총 121개월의 월별자료를 활용하였으며 석탄 및 철광석 물동량에 영향을 주는 요인을 선정하여 공급관련요인과 시장·경제관련요인으로 분류하였다. 단계적 회귀분석 결과, 광양항 석탄 물동량 예측모형의 경우, 입항선박 톤수, 석탄가격 및 대미환율이 최종변수로 선정되었고 철광석 물동량 예측모형의 경우, 입항선박 톤수, 철광석가격이 최종변수로 선정되었다. 인공신경망모형의 경우, 모델 성능에 영향을 미치는 다양한 Hyper-parameters를 조정하며 최적 모델을 선정하는 시행착오법을 사용하였다. 분석결과 인공신경망모형이 단계적 회귀분석에 비해 우수한 예측성능을 나타내었으며 예측 모형별 예측값과 실측값을 그래프 상 비교 시에도 인공신경망모형이 단계적 회귀분석에 비해 고·저점을 유사하게 나타냈다.
This study aims to propose an assessment tool of port service quality (PSQ) in the context of container transport logistics (CTLs), by taking the perspectives from port users. The CTLs defined in this study are the relevant activities of serving the physical flows of a container box from a point of origin via a container port to a point of destination. To address the ports’ role in collaboration between its channel members in CTLs, the PSQ measures for all port user groups (i.e. common PSQ measures) are selected based on the relevant CTLs activities involved by port, and its users within terminal/port area as well as throughout the CTLs chain. An importance-performance analysis (IPA) is applied as a diagnostic tool to analyse the status quo of Busan Port in CTLs contexts, by comparing the importance and performance (IP) scores against each individual CTLs criterion. The findings from the IPA reveal that port managers and policy makers at the Busan Port should concentrate on six PSQ measures (i.e. SR1, SR4, ITS1, VAS1, VAS4, ICI3) to enhance PSQ in CTLs. However, four measures (i.e. ITS2, ITS3, ITS4, VAS2) are identified as a possible overkill, indicating an area of inefficiency where a remedial action of the cost-cutting decision is necessary. On the other hand, the Busan port shows an outstanding performance on four measures such as SR2, SR3, ICI1 and ICI2. The measures are not only important but also high performance. The study findings provide managerial guidance to port managers in Busan Port, in view of searching for managerial and operational strategies for sustainable port growth.
In maintaining infra-structure, the conventional assessment and maintenance system has focused on safety. As the importance of performance-based assessment increases, considering the performance indices has became essential to assess in perspective of comprehensive evaluation of infrastructure. Therefore, in this study, the conventional evaluation system in Korea and suggested future direction of the maintenance system are analyzed.

최근 조직의 정보유출사고가 연이어 발생하면서 조직차원에서 정보보안 관리와 정보보안대책 수립이 시급하다. 특히 조직구성원들 의 정보보안 관리 강화 방안을 마련하고 조직구성원들의 정보보안 인식의 제고를 위해 노력을 기울여야 한다. 조직의 정보보안이행 정도가 정보보안성과에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위한 연구모형을 설정하였으며, 표본 집단으로 해운·항만조직과 금융·보험 조직의 구성원들을 선정 하였다. 구조방정식 모형을 이용하여 결과요인을 도출하였으며 설문지를 통해 수집된 데이터를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 해운 항만조직 구성 원을 대상으로 정보보안성과에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정보보안인식에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 정보보안태 도, 정보보안관심도로 확인되었으며, 둘째, 조직의 정보보안정책에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 정보보안규범인 것으로 확인되었다. 반면에 정 보보안처벌과 정보보안교육은 정보보안정책 준수에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 정보보안인식은 정보보안정책준수, 정보보 안능력, 정보보안행동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 넷째, 정보보안정책준수는 정보보안능력과 정보보안행동에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 확인되었다. 마지막으로 정보보안능력과 정보보안행동은 정보보안성과에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 확인되었다.
각 항만의 터미널별 물동량을 기반으로 허쉬만-허핀달지수를 통해 부산항과 상하이항의 시장구조 측정을 실시하였고, 시장성과를 분석하기 위해 시장성과를 수익성과 성장성의 두 가지 측면으로 구분하였다. 수익성 측면에서는 각 컨테이너 터미널 운영사들의 가격-비용 마진율(PCM)과 자산수익률(ROA), 성장성 측면에서는 각 터미널의 처리 실적과 물동량 증감률을 통해 각 터미널 운영사의 성과를 측정하였 다. 측정된 결과를 바탕으로 시장구조와 터미널 운영사의 성과에 대한 상관관계를 살펴보기 위해 회귀분석을 실시하였고, 결과를 상호 비교하 였다. 연구결과, 부산항의 시장구조와 컨테이너 터미널 운영사의 성장성(처리실적), 상하이항의 시장구조와 컨테이너 터미널 운영사의 수익성 (PCM, ROA) 및 성장성(처리실적)과의 관계가 유의적인 관계로 나타났다.
Recently, the fierce competitions in the shipping industry and the global economic downturn have heavily influenced ports’ operational strategies. In order for port authorities to remain competitive at an international level and to provide more accurate information to develop National policies, ports are required to analyse and improve operations’ efficiency. In this paper, the efficiency of 19 Italian ports in 2013, handling different types of cargoes, is assessed through the application of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), with constant return to scale (CRS) and variable return to scale (VRS). The purpose of this study is to analyze the efficiency of Italian ports and evaluate whether differences in size and specialization of each port (or cargo handled) are directly correlated with ports' efficiency.
Currently internal harbor and fishing port facilities are being maintained with the "Safety inspection and in-depth safety inspection detailed guideline" This is provided with the evaluation focusing on the safety and durability of the structure, based on the usability are not presented. In this study, we derive the evaluation items of the harbor and fishing port facilities for the transition from the maintenance of the existing system to the performance-based safety and maintenance system.
인천항의 경우, 2006년도에는 1,373,873 TEU를 처리하여 전년대비 수출입 컨테이너 125%, 환적 컨테이너 198%라는 높은 성장률을 기록하였다. 이는 인천항과 상대적으로 인접한 중국의 효과가 크게 작용하였다고 판단되며, 향후 인천항의 여건이 좋아질수록 인천항을 이용하는 환적화물은 기존 예측된 증가율을 훨씬 상회하며 높아질 가능성이 크다. 그러나 인천항은 조수간만의 차이로 인한 접안시설의 이용불편과 CY의 용량부족 및 서비스 미흡, 창고와 야적장의 보관 및 장치요율의 불합리, 항만물류시스템과 배후수송체계의 비효율성 등의 구조적인 문제점 역시 가지고 있다. 이러한 측면에서 화주의 다양한 시대적 요구에 부응하고 비용을 절감하며 이를 통하여 국가의 경쟁력을 향상시키기 위해서 인천항만의 물류시스템을 점검하고, 시스템 수준을 평가해보는 것은 시급한 실정이다. 본 연구는 이런 관점에서 인천항의 항만물류시스템의 수준을 종합적인 관점에서 분석하고 다양한 정책대안을 제시하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 하였다.
최근 정보화는 사회전반에 걸쳐 핵심 전략수단이 되었으며, 항만에 있어서도 정보화 및 정보기술의 중요성은 예외 없이 강조되고 있다. 그러나, 이러한 항만 정보화의 중요성에도 불구하고 이에 대한 기반연구가 부족하고, 게다가 항만의 정보화 수준을 제대로 측정할 수 있는 기준과 그 수준을 분석한 연구는 거의 없는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 점에 주목하여 항만의 정보화 수준을 파악하기 위한 기준을 수립하고, 정보화 수준 평가지수를 개발하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 그리고, 수립된 지수모델을 바탕으로 그 적용가능성을 가늠해보고자 한다.
In order to measure the performance of resources in a port container terminal, we conducted a state transition network simulation to model various equipment processes. The processes that container cranes and transfer cranes perform are idle, wait, move, and work. Vehicles perform idle, wait, empty travel, and full travel. Because cranes, vehicles, and vessels are movable entities and all equipment is classified as either a customer or server, we separated the various stages of the process based upon the state transition network To validate the simulation results, a real system was used to illustrate the use of various measurements using the state transition network
