        As the technological gap amongst manufacturers decreases, the life cycle of products has shortened, and competition accelerates due to the development of technology, incumbent manufacturing companies face growth limitations. In order to overcome such business issues, manufacturing companies are increasingly interested in changes in business models and innovations, especially in the direction of providing services where they can maintain the competitive advantage of their products. In such context, this empirical study examines managerial leadership, differentiation strategies, and products and services pricing as ‘servitization factors’, which can be driving forces for moving into a new era of growth for Korean SMEs, focusing on the mediating effects of servitization competency. The results are as follows : First, it was confirmed that executive leadership, differentiation strategy, and information & communication technology capability have a direct effect on service sales. Second, the process competency, partnership competency, and ICT competency, which are presented as the service competence of SMEs, were found to play an important role in inducing service sales in managerial leadership, differentiation strategy, product and services pricing. It also emphasized the role of the public policy such as helping to foster SMEs as key partners in the expansion of social facilities and establishing platforms through ICT and data utilization for the convergence of manufacturing services.

        The aim of this study is to analyze the productivity change of pollock enterprise by applying a mutually quadratic hyperbolic model and a bootstrapping model. This study used 20 units of pollock firms data (from 2013 to 2017). As a result of total productivity analysis of twenty pollock enterprises, total factor productivity was estimated to have decreased by 24.9% over the last five years (2013~2017). The main cause of this productivity decline was analyzed by technical change. In terms of annual productivity change, it showed decrease 3.0% in 2013~2014, 7.8% in 2014~2015, 4.5% in 2015~2016 and 4.7% in 2016~2017 respectively. In the analysis of productivity by corporation type, total factor productivity showed a significant decrease in both general corporation and external corporation, and productivity decrease (-29.3%) was larger than general corporation (-23.0%). In the productivity analysis by type of business, total factor productivity decreased significantly in the order of wholesale and commodity brokerage (-26.3%), food manufacturing (-25.1%) and fisheries (-15.3%). This decrease in productivity was caused by the technological change which indicates a downward shift in the production curve that is significant in all sectors.

        본격적인 뉴노멀(New Normal) 시대에 접어들면서 중소기업의 중요성은 더욱 강조되는 추세이다. 우리나라도 경제성장과 일자리 창출을 위하여 중소기업 지원을 강화하고 있으며, 특히 R&D투자와 기술혁신을 촉진하기 위하여 국가연구개발사업과 조세지원제도를 확충하는 등 다양한 정책수단을 강구하고 있다. 하지만 중소기업의 R&D투자를 유인하기 위한 직·간접지원의 효용성에 대해서는 연구자마다 의견이 엇갈리고 있으며, 두 정책수단 간 최적의 조합을 모색하려는 논의는 거의 이루어지지 않고 있는 실정이다. 중소기업 정책의 주 무부처가 격상되었고, 중소기업을 지원하는 정부 R&D투자의 규모가 지속적으로 증가하고 있는 현 시점이 직·간접지원의 정책조합을 비롯한 중장기적 방향성에 대하여 논의할 적기로 판단된다. 본 연구에서는 그간 국내 학계에서 발표되었던 유관 연구 32건을 취합하여 체계적 문헌고찰과 메타분석을 시도하였다. 이러한 작업은 단순히 정부의 정책지원이 중소기업의 자체 R&D투자를 유인하는지 검증하는 수준을 넘어, 그간의 관련 논쟁을 종합하고 실증적으로 정리한다는 의의도 있다. 본 연구의 메타분석 결과, 대기업은 조세지원 위주로, 중소기업은 보조금 위주로 지원하는 것이 효과적이었다. 하지만 현재 우리나라의 중소기업 R&D지원은 직접지원에 대한 비중이 과도하게 높아서 간접지원 비중을 점진적으로 늘릴 필요성이 제기된 다.

        The purpose of this research was to test the effects of entrepreneurship and technological innovation capability on new product performance in SMEs and the moderating role of absorption capability. For this study, Research data were collected through questionnaire instruments from the sample of 374 employees in 18 SMEs of metropolitan area. The 336 sample was selected and analyzed by hierarchical regression technique. The results showed that entrepreneurship and technological innovation capability had a positive effect on new product performance. And also found out absorption capability had the moderate roles between all the three factors of technological innovation capability factors and new product performance, but not between all the three factors of entrepreneurship and new product performance. With the research results, the implications for technical management of SMEs were discussed, and the directions for future research were suggested.

        The Korean fisheries industry is a traditional business, the majority of which are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It has played an important role in the South Korean economies in the past several decades, but it currently faces the limitations of growth potential and profitability due to declining workforce, aging populations, deteriorating fishery environments, climate changes, and rapid changes in the global industrial ecosystem. Many studies have suggested solutions for the fisheries industry in macro perspective, but there are rarely any studies taking the strategic approaches for the problem. If it is possible for governments to support the companies that are likely to increase their value-added selectively, it will break through the current situation more effectively. This paper introduces a study on the selection method utilizing data envelopment analysis (DEA) to find SMEs with potentials to increase profits and growth. We suggest selecting SMEs with high management efficiency and ability to utilize intangible assets as the target companies. We also suggest policy objectives for SMEs in the domestic fisheries industry based on the results of DEA analysis and propose a data-based method for the policy decisions.

        With the recent development of manufacturing technology and the diversification of consumer needs, not only the process and quality control of production have become more complicated but also the kinds of information that manufacturing facilities provide the user about process have been diversified. Therefore the importance of big data analysis also has been raised. However, most small and medium enterprises (SMEs) lack the systematic infrastructure of big data management and analysis. In particular, due to the nature of domestic manufacturing companies that rely on foreign manufacturers for most of their manufacturing facilities, the need for their own data analysis and manufacturing support applications is increasing and research has been conducted in Korea. This study proposes integrated analysis platform for process and quality analysis, considering manufacturing big data database (DB) and data characteristics. The platform is implemented in two versions, Web and C/S, to enhance accessibility which perform template based quality analysis and real-time monitoring. The user can upload data from their local PC or DB and run analysis by combining single analysis module in template in a way they want since the platform is not optimized for a particular manufacturing process. Also Java and R are used as the development language for ease of system supplementation. It is expected that the platform will be available at a low price and evolve the ability of quality analysis in SMEs.

        본 연구는 자원기반이론 관점에서 우리나라 중소기업의 기술협력 성과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 해당 이론적 관점에서는 기술협력의 동기가 기술적 자원의 보완성이 강조된다는 점을 고려하여 분석 대상의 기업군을 기술수준에 따라 하이테크(high technology), 미드테크(medium technology), 로우테크(low technology) 등 세 단계로 구 분하였으며, 기술협력 파트너를 기술적 자원 및 역량을 기준으로 대기업, 중소기업, 대학, 연구기관으로 구분하고, 각각의 협력관계에 따른 혁신성과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 우리나라 중소기업의 기술수준별 그리고 협력 파트너에 따라 기술협력 성과에 미치는 영향은 상이한 것으로 나타났다. 특히 하이테크 중소기업의 경우 대학과의 협력에서 긍정적으로 효과를 확인할 수 있었음에 반해 미드테크의 경우 대학과 대기업과의 협력, 로우테크의 대학과 대기업은 물론 중소기업과의 협력에서도 유의한 성과를 보였다. 비록 기술 수준별로 기술협력의 유의한 성과가 선호체계를 가진다는 흥미로운 결과에도 불구 하고 본 논문이 단년도 횡단면 자료에 근거하고 있는 점을 고려하여 해석 될 필요가 있 다

        Prior research found a firm’s strategic orientation has a key impact on product innovativeness performance (Ozkaya et al., 2015). Both marketing orientation and learning orientation help firms to develop new product designs, generate innovative ideas, and achieve a better business performance (Narver & Stanley, 1990; Chuang, Morgan & Robson, 2015; Calantone et al, 2002). In line with prior studies, the purpose of this research is to investigate the mediating role of absorptive capacity (ACAP) (Cohen & Levinthal, 1990) on the effect of a firm’s strategic orientation (i.e., marketing orientation and learning orientation) on product innovativeness. We further investigated how environmental uncertainty moderates the effects of market orientation and learning orientation on product innovativeness. Survey method is adopted to collect data from Chinese manufacturer SMEs in the IT industry. 318 questionnaires were collected and analysed. CFA result shows that all constructs meet minimum requirements for reliability and discriminant validity test. Structural Equation Model (SEM) test reveals that both learning orientation and competitor orientation have significant impacts on product innovativeness, and ACAP plays partial meditation roles to effects from learning orientation to product innovativeness, and competitor orientation to product innovativeness. Customer orientation does not show a direct effect on product innovativeness, but is fully mediated by ACAP. We further tested whether the model is moderated by environmental uncertainty (EU) and result shows that EU only moderates the impact from learning orientation to product innovativeness. By developing a model of strategic orientation– absorptive capacity- product innovativeness, we contribute to the extant literature in strategic marketing.

        기술금융은 금융당국이 금융산업 선진화, 중소기업발전을 위해 강력한 정책적 의지를 가지고 도입하여 시행하고 있는 분야이다. 이러한 배경으로 은행의 자체적인 기술평 가가 2016년 9월부터 시행되었다. 기술우수기업은 기술평가과정에서 산출된 높은 기술등급으로 기존 신용등급이 상향되게 되며, 결과적으로 높아진 신용등급만큼 금융거래시 혜택을 받게 된다. 분석대상은 KEB하나은행이 2016년 9월부터 2017년 하반기까지 수행한 기술평가 대상 2,719개 업체를 분석하였다. 2016년 하반기 수행된 406개 업체에 대한 기술력평가 예비 연구에서 기존 신용등급과 산출된 기술등급을 결합한 결과, J58‘출판업‘의 기술신용등급은 신용등급대비 1.05등급 상향되어 상향정도가 가장 높았으며, C10‘식료품 제조업‘이 두 번째로 상향정도가 높았다. 이로써 기술력평가를 통한 수혜업종을 가려낼 수 있었으며, 업종별 기술 평가의 유용성을 확인할 수 있었다. 이에, 전체 수행기간동안 평가된 2,719개 업체에 대하여 기술력, 업력, 성장유망업종별 분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과 기술력 T-4이상 등급 업체들의 신용등급 상향정도가 가장 높았으며 5년 기준 업력에 따른 기술력평가의 유효성은 미미한 것으로 파악되었다. 정책지원의 효율성차원에서 지정된 성장유망업종에 해당하는 업체들을 대상으로 분석한 결과 일반기업대비 신용등급의 상향정도가 높아 성장유망업종 지원의 유용성을 확인할 수 있었다. 향후, 은행의 업체 발굴 또는 당국의 정책수립시에 T-4이상의 기술력 우수기업, 성장유망 업종에 집중하면 자금지원 효과를 극대화할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        융⋅복합 제품의 확산, 디지털 기술의 발전과 고도화, 제품수명주기의 단축, 지식원천의 다양화 등 경영환경의 급격한 변화로 인하여 기업은 내부 자원만을 이용한 혁신으로 경쟁에 대처하기 어려운 상황에 놓이게 되었다. 특히, 중소기업은 자체 기술개발의 한계와 자원의 제약으로 인해 환경변화에 신속하게 대처하기가 더욱 어렵다. 기업이 제품과 시장에서 지위를 강화하기 위해서는 혁신에 필요한 아이디어나 기술 등을 외부에서 조달하고 내부의 자원들도 외부와 공유하며 새로운 제품과 서비스를 개발해야만 한다. 기업이 기업 내부와 외부로의 지식흐름을 활용하여 내부 혁신성과를 높이고 혁신의 외부 활용시장을 확대하여 기업의 가치를 높이는 개방형 혁신 패러다임은 여전히 유용한 혁신 전략이 될 수 있는 이유이다. 개방형 혁신에 관한 다양한 연구들이 진행되었지만, 중소기업의 개방형 혁신의 선행요인과 기업성과를 하나의 연구모형으로 분석하여 개방형 혁신에 대한 심층적인 이해를 제공한 연구는 부족하다. 또한 개방형 혁신의 선행요인 연구에서 그 중요성에도 불구하고 충분하게 검증되지 않았던 기업가 지향성과 개방적 조직문화에 대해 그 영향을 실증적으로 확인할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 중소기업의 기업가 지향성과 개방적 조직문화가 개방형 혁신에 미치는 영향을 검토하고, 기업가 지향성, 개방적 조직문화, 개방형 혁신이 기업성과에 미치는 직⋅간접적 영향을 개방형 혁신의 매개효과를 중심으로 분석한다. 실증분석을 위해 우리나라 상장기업들과 외부감사기업들 중 종업원 100인 이상 5,000명 이하 제조기업을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였으며, 283개의 유효한 응답결과에 대해 구조방정식 모형을 이용하여 연구모형과 가설을 검증했다. 실증분석 결과는 첫째, 기업가 지향성은 개방형 혁신과 기업성과에 긍정적인 영향을 준다. 둘째, 기업의 개방적 조직문화는 개방형 혁신에는 긍정적인 영향을 나타내지만 기업성과에 미치는 직접적 영향은 통계적으로 유의하지 않는 것으로 나타냈다. 셋째, 개방형 혁신은 기업성과에 긍정적인 영향을 나타내는 것으로 확인되었다. 넷째, 개방형 혁신은 기업가 지향성과 기업성과 사이에서 부분적으로 매개효과를 나타내며, 개방적 조직문화와 기업성과 사이에서는 완전매개 효과를 나타내었다.

        지난 20여년 동안 글로벌화의 진전으로 중소기업의 해외진출의 중요성이 높아지면서 중소기업의 국제 화에 관한 연구관심이 지속적으로 증가되고 있다. 여기에는 수출관련 연구, 국제화 결정요인 연구, 국제화 과정 연구, 그리고 국제화 성과에 관한 연구 등이 있다. 이 가운데 중소기업의 국제화 결정요인에 관한 연구가 중심적 위치를 차지하고 있다. 나아가, 중소기업의 국제화가 경영성과와 어떤 관계를 가지는가에 관한 연구관심 역시 크게 확산되고 있다. 한편, 최근 10여년 동안 중앙정부는 혁신적인 기술이나 상품 혹 은 경영기술의 개발 또는 도입을 통해 수익을 창출하는 혁신형 중소기업을 적극적으로 육성해 오고 있다. 혁신형 중소기업의 경우 차별화된 기술역량을 바탕으로 국제화를 전향적으로 추구할 가능성이 높으므로 이들 기업에 관한 국제화 결정요인에 관한 실증연구가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 혁신형 중소기업의 국제화 결정요인을 실증적으로 규명하고자 하였다. 구체적으로 는 혁신형 중소기업의 기업가정신, 기술역량, 그리고 국내시장 환경이 국제화에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 한다. 나아가 혁신형 중소기업의 국제화가 성과에는 어떤 효과를 가지는지를 규명하고자 한다. 233개 혁신형 중소기업으로부터 설문자료를 수집하여 분석한 결과 혁신형 중소기업의 기업가정신, 기 술역량, 그리고 국내시장환경 모두 국제화에 긍정적으로 유의한 효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 혁신형 중소기업의 국제화는 순이익증가율에는 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나, 영업이익율 에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 이론적 및 실무적 시사점들을 제시하였다. 나아가 본 연구의 한계점 및 향후 연구방향에 대해서도 논의하였다.

        Productivity improvement is one of the important goals which firms’ technology developments aim at. Firms’ improved productivity from technology development means that their inputs can produce more outputs through technology development, which makes firms’ productivity improvement from technology development more and more important in the age of technology advance and convergence like today. This research empirically analyzes the influence of the external technology collaboration network diversity on the productivity improvement of the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from technology development and the moderating effect of the chief technology officer (CTO)-driven technology development on this influence. This study constructs the research model reflecting the moderating impact of the CTO-driven technology development and tests it with the ordinary least squares regression through the IBM SPSS version 23 by using the 2,000 data about South Korean SMEs. This research empirically reveals two points. One is that SMEs’ external technology collaboration network diversity has a positive influence on their productivity improvement from technology development. The other is that the positive effect of SMEs’ external technology collaboration network diversity on their productivity improvement from technology development is moderated by the CTO-driven technology development. The two points revealed in this study present two meaningful implications in not only the practical but also academic point of view. The practical implication is that it is effective for SMEs to use CTOs in increasing their productivity improvement from technology development. The academic implication is that making technology collaboration with more diverse external partners can increase SMEs’ productivity improvement from technology development.

        The purpose of this study is to present a business strategy plan to increase organizational effectiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises. The research investigated in the level of human resource activity, such as recruitment, education, evaluation, compensation and development for the employees and executives who are working at small and medium-sized enterprises where located in Busan and Gyongnam province. With this, the research carried out actual proof analysis on the level of human resource activity effects on organization effectiveness like job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The following implications can be acquired from the result of multiple regression analysis on the 201 employees of small and medium enterprises. First, small and medium-sized enterprises should carry out human resource management activities and improve research and development capacity to enhance organization effectiveness. Second, in order to improve job satisfaction of the members of small and medium-sized enterprises, the management should concentrate on recruitment activity and reward maintenance management activity and come up with strategies to enhance learning ability and external network ability. Third, in order to enhance organizational commitment of the members of small and medium-sized enterprises, recruitment activity, training activity, and reward maintenance management activity should be carried out and the management should come up with strategies to enhance learning ability and external network ability. In this research, the objective was only to find out antecedents of organization effectiveness, but considering that causality might arise among the antecedents, in the studies hereafter, the verification on the structural relationship of various factors will be needed.

        In today’s global marketplace, few consumers would bat an eye at a Central European retailer selling products manufactured in the US from raw materials purchased in Asia and Africa. Recently, Finnish connoisseurs of local craft beer were shocked to discover that even their local microbreweries were getting in on the act, albeit somewhat involuntarily. Strict regulations that govern the sale of alcoholic beverages in Finland essentially prevent the smallest breweries from distributing their products in the local market. Ironically, the only way for these small businesses to reach their local customers is through internationalization – setting up an online store across the border and serving the Finnish market from abroad. Drawing on the context of alcohol policy in Finland as an illustrative example, this study demonstrates how global markets can offer small businesses a way to counter unfavorable or discriminative local public policy. The study also illustrates the potential impact that businesses can have on policy by drawing public attention to its shortcomings, and offers implications for practitioners by highlighting the importance of thorough evaluation of policies for possible inconsistencies and outlining possible indicators that such inconsistencies may be present.

        The quality of service in ERP services is a key issue in innovating the ERP performance as an IT service for corporations. Currently, most of the research works for this area are based on the existing quality models such as SERVQUAL, which are said not to measure service quality properly. Also, it does not consider the factor of the system acceptance, which is thought to be closely related to the quality of service in this type of IT services. Therefore, a research model is required, which can address the issues related to the ERP service quality measurements. In this paper, new research models have been proposed, and empirical data obtained from SME’s ERP users have been applied to the proposed model to analyze the causal relationship between quality factors and to identify the most suitable quality measures. Also, the relationship between the service quality and the system acceptance was analyzed using a combined model. The results show that factors such as productivity and convenience affects the quality mostly and that the most appropriate measure for the service quality of ERP service is satisfaction. Also, for the system acceptance, the ease-of-use is the main factor. And, the service quality and system acceptance shows a strong correlation. This means that, in order to enhance the quality of ERP services, the service provider needs to provide customers with productivity-enhanced user-friendly IT services and active product support. The work of this research can help to improve the service quality and the user acceptance of ERP services and to lead further research works in this area.

        Product liability (PL), which began enforcement in 2002, refers to the legal responsibility of the manufacturers or sellers (wholesales or retailers) for the property damage or bodily harm caused by their product. With a strong enforcement of the Product Liability (PL) Act, companies are required to structure and operate a response system to defend or prevent product accidents efficiently, but small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are unable to respond more aggressively due to limitation of management resources. In this manner, it is important to develop response strategies for SMEs to efficiently cope with the PL Act. In this paper, the PEST (Political, Economic, Social, and Technological) analysis is performed to reveal the impact of the PL Act on SMEs in macro-economic point of view. To formulate SME’s PL response strategy, SWOT analysis is performed to categorize each factors from PEST analysis and AHP is applied to identify the intensities of SWOT factors. The prioritized SWOT factor, results of PEST-SWOT-AHP analysis, are used to formulate SME’s PL response strategies. The study results are briefly summarized as follows. To reduce product defects, it is necessary for SMEs to formulate PL response strategies for each phase of the product life cycle by continuously collecting and analyzing PL cases in the same industry or for similar products. In addition, SMEs should invest more technological effort to ensure product safety. Further, SMEs should spread PL awareness to all staff members by training internal PL experts. Moreover, a SME should enroll in PL insurance and spread this information to its customers so that they become aware that the company is proactively conforming to the PL law.

        Most Korean companies in the fashion industry are SMEs, and the role of the CEO and management ownership is important for enhancing the firm’s competence and developing strategies. The study aims to examine the effect of management ownership on company financial growth. In particular, the study focuses on the moderating effect of company age and size on Korean fashion SMEs’ financial outcomes. Financial data based on company financial statements from 2012 to 2014 was collected by the Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System of Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service. A total of 295 companies’ (domestic fashion businesses) data was analyzed by the bootstrap method. The median sales value in the financial year 2014 was 47,492,403,958 KRW, and the company size was divided by it. The companies were in business for an average of 20 years. According to the results, the management ownership had a negative effect on Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) for the three-years, and the relationship between the two variables was moderated by company age. Additionally, the interaction effect of management ownership and company age on 3-CAGR was also moderated by company size. When the companies had spent only a few years in business, a negative effect of management ownership for small firms and a positive effect of management ownership on financial growth for medium firms were found. These results suggest that small companies starting business need to manage their company governance structure to make flexible decisions, and after retaining financial growth, the companies can expand their businesses based on strong ownership.
