        A zinc-air battery is one of most promising advanced batteries due to its high specific energy density, low cost, and environmental friendliness. However, zinc anodes in zinc-air batteries lead to several issues including self-discharge, corrosion reaction, and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In this paper, viscosity of electrolyte has been controlled to suppress the corrosion reaction, HER, and self-discharge behavior. Various viscosity average molecular weights of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) are adopted to prepare the electrolyte. The evaporation of electrolytes is proportional to the increase in molecular weight. In addition, enhanced self-discharge behavior is obtained when the gelling agent with high molecular weight is used. In addition, the zinc-air cell assembled with lower viscosity average molecular weight of PAA (Mv ~ 450,000) delivers 510.85 mAh/g and 489.30 mAh/g of discharge capacity without storage and with 6 hr storage, respectively. Also, highest capacity retention (95.78 %) is obtained among studied materials.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate self-esteem, body image, body cathexis and body attitude of female middle school students. A total of 298 subjects were included in this study. Subjects were classified into weight control group and a non weight control group. As a result of analyzing body shapes satisfaction was higher in the non weight control group 2.83 than in the weight control group 2.28 (p<0.001). The weight control group revealed lower body satisfaction than the non weight control group. The result of the reason for weight control was the ratio of ‘weight loss’ 84.6%, respectively (p<0.001). Factors impacting physical image of female middle school students were analyzed as friends (3.46), internet (3.22), and TV (3.13). Results suggest that educational program should be combined with a positive emphasis on physical image and self-esteem for female middle school students. Also, there was a high correlation between body weight and self-esteem. Results indicate that female middle school students are interested in weight loss with the wrong body image. Therefore, female middle school students should be provided with an educational approach to such issues so that they have a realistic perception of their body and form realistic values about self-esteem and body.

        The difference between self-evaluated obesity and obesity index of RBW and BMI as well as attitude toward weight control were studied among college students in Chungnam area. The subjects of 307 students were randomly selected and asked to categorize their body shape into 5 groups and to record their body weight and height. We found that average RBW and BMI of the students were 95.7% and 20.6, respectively. By RBW, 30.6% of students belonged to underweight and severe-underweight groups whereas 14.0% overweight and obesity ones. The female students showed lower obesity indice than the male. Self-evaluated obesity seemed likely to overestimate their body shapes above RBW and BMI, which lead to high unsatisfactioin toward their body shape. The overestimation was profound in normal weighted female students up to 20%. Misunderstanding about their obesity, especially among female college students, should be corrected necessarily by proper nutrition counseling and nutrition education, unless malnutrition could be serious in college students.

        Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of weight training on physical self-concept among middle aged women by using a mixed research methods including a single case study design and qualitative study. Methods: A total of 8 middle-aged women from new members of the K fitness center in Incheon participated in the 17 weeks study. The study was structured 2 weeks baseline session, 12 weeks of weight training with observed changes through physical self-description questionnaire (PSDQ; Kim, 2001) and 3 weeks withdrawal session. Results: 12 weeks weight training intervention significantly improved factors of physical self-concept among the participants. Weight training was effective not only in strength and flexibility, but also in sports confidence, physical activity, and endurance. The following is the result of analyzing perceptual changes of the process of physical self-concept change after the in-depth interview with the participants of the weight training. Conclusion: Weight training effectively improved middle-aged women’s physical self-concept including perceptions of health and body, sport confidence, physical fitness and general physical status.

        More than 50 million tons of dredged soils are produced every year in Korea. Approximately 10% of these dredged soils are dumped into the ocean because of contamination, while 80% are reclaimed to create artificial wetlands, artificial beaches, and ecological parks. The interpretation of sedimentation and self-weight consolidation behavior is very important because this behavior is closely related to the stabilization of dredged soils and the landfilling period. The analytical solution for the calculation of excess pore-water pressure is obtained by determining the initial and boundary conditions. Then, the surface settlement and density profiles are predicted by using this analytical solution. The analytical solution from Terzaghi’s one-dimensional consolidation theory and this study’s numerical simulation with mass conservation more easily predicted the self-weight consolidation behavior of dredged soft soils than the non-linear finite strain consolidation theory.

        본 연구는 최근 지반공학 기술의 발전에 따라 성토제체의 자중을 가볍게 하기 위한 방안의 일환으로 화력발전소에서 발생되는 다공성의 바텀애시를 골재로 활용한 모르타르 슬러리 내부에 기포를 혼합한 경량성토공법의 활용성을 평가하고자 하였다. 개발한 경량성토층을 연약지반의 상부에 적용하였을 때 지반거동을 관측하기 위하여 모형시험기를 제작하였으며, 단계적으로 하중을 증가시켜 지반의 거동과 변형값을 측정하였다. 또한, 연약지반 현장에서 실용화되고 있는 표층고화공법과 침하량, 지반융기량, 한계하중값을 비교함으로써 개발한 기술의 효과를 비교, 검토하였다. 모형시험을 통한 관측결과, 타 연약지반처리공법과 달리 본 성토는 강도가 높아 지반변형 크기는 작은 반면 지반변형의 영역은 넓은 것으로 나타났으며, 하중-침하량과 융기량이 기존 표층고화공법에 비해 작게 나타나고 있어 연약지반 활용에 효과적인 것으로 평가되었다.
