        A number of coated grains (spherical to elongated ones in shape) were collected from a small stream, Dijon, France. They were characterized by typical concentric lamination surrounding broken twigs, and were thus identified as concentric precipitation on plant twigs. Within carbonate coatings of the plant twigs, two morphological groups including, eukaryotic green algae (Vaucheria sp.) and cyanobacteria (Scytonema sp. and Rivularia sp.) were detected, which form carbonate crystals that are surrounding their filaments. The filaments could have triggered carbonate precipitation by photosynthetic removal of CO2 causing the increase of alkalinity of the water, and by supporting their sheaths as nucleation sites. Such encrusted twigs were found from 70 meters downstream, in which temperature and pH were measured as 11.1˚C and 8.18, respectively. These water chemistries (11.1˚C and pH 8.18), with the aid of microbial photosynthesis, were likely to provide a suitable condition for carbonate precipitation on the twigs.

        목적: 고분자 안경 렌즈를 산성 용액에 침지시킨 후 용액의 pH에 따른 렌즈 및 코팅의 특성 변화에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 폴리비닐에스터와 폴리우레탄 계열의 안경 렌즈를 인공 산성비 용액(pH 2.4~6.0)에 1~5주 동안 침지시킨 후 광학적, 물리적 특성 변화를 측정하였다. 결과: 고분자 안경 렌즈를 산성 용액에 침지시킨 시간이 증가됨에 따라 렌즈의 가시광선 투과율, 접촉각, 경도, 그리고 내마모성은 감소되었다. 특히 강산(pH 2.4)에 5주 동안 노출된 렌즈의 경도는 비닐 에스터 소재의 렌즈는 34.7%, 우레탄소재의 렌즈들은 각각 52.3%과 29%정도 감소되었다. 부착력은 5주차 이상 침지된 우레탄계열 렌즈는 모두 4B등급, 비닐 에스터 계열은 5B등급으로 나타났다. 전기장은 침지시킨 용액의 산성도 및 침지 시간에 관계없이 렌즈에 의해 모두 차단되었다. 결론: 본 연구 결과를 통하여 반복적인 산성비 노출은 안경렌즈 재질의 변화 및 이에 따른 렌즈 코팅 수명 단축으로 인한 여러 광학적, 물리적 특성이 저하됨을 확인하였다.

        Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox(Bi-2212) and Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy(Bi-2223) high-Tc superconductors(HTS) have been manufactured by plasma spraying, partial melt process(PMP) and annealing treatment(AT). A Bi-2212/2223 HTS coating layer was synthesized through the peritectic reaction between a 0212 oxide coating layer and 2001 oxide coating layer by the PMP-AT process. The 2212 HTS layer consists of whiskers grown in the diffusion direction. The Bi-2223 phase and secondary phase in the Bi-2212 layer were observed. The secondary phase was distributed uniformly over the whole layer. As annealing time goes on, the Bi-2212 phase decreases with mis-orientation and irregular shape, but the Bi-2223 phase increases because a new Bi-2223 phase is formed inside the pre-existing Bi-2212 crystals, and because of the nucleation of a Bi-2223 phase at the edge of Bi-2212 crystals by diffusion of Ca and Cu-O bilayers. In this study the spray coated layer showed superconducting transitions with an onset Tc of about both 115 K, and 50 K. There were two steps. Step 1 at 115 K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2223 phase and step 2 at 50 K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2212 phase.

        Lanthanum/gadolinium zirconate coatings are deposited via suspension plasma spray with suspensions fabricated by a planetary mill and compared with hot-pressed samples via solid-state reaction. With increase in processing time of the planetary mill, the mean size and BET surface area change rapidly in the case of lanthanum oxide powder. By using suspensions of planetary-milled mixture between lanthanum or gadolinium oxide and nano zirconia, dense thick coatings with fully-developed pyrochlore phases are obtained. The possibilities of these SPS-prepared coatings for TBC application are also discussed.

        Coatings composited with alumina and Perfluoro alkoxyalkane (PFA) resin were deposited on stainless steel plate (SUS304) to further improve corrosion resistance. Plate (ca. 10μm) and/or nanosize (27~43 nm) alumina used as inorganic additives were mixed in PFA resin to make alumina-fluoro composite coatings. These coatings were deposited on SUS304 plate with wet spray coating and then the film was cured thermally. According to the amount and ratio of the two kinds of alumina having plate morphology and nano size, corrosion resistance of the film was evaluated under strong acids (HF, HCl) and a strong base (NaOH). The film prepared with the addition of 5~10 wt% alumina powders in PFA resin showed corrosion resistance superior to that of pure PFA resin film. However, for the film prepared with alumina content above 10 wt%, the corrosion resistance did not improve with the physical properties, such as surface hardness and adhesion. The film prepared with plate/nanosize (weight ratio = 1/2) alumina especially enhanced the surface hardness and corrosion resistance. This can be explained as showing that the plate and the nanosize alumina dispersed in PFA resin effectively suppressed the penetration of cations and anions due to the long penetration length and fewer defects that accompany the improved surface hardness under a serious environment of 10% HF solution for over 120 hrs.

        With increase in operating temperature of gas turbine for higher efficiency, it is necessary to find new materials of TBC for replacement of YSZ. Among candidate materials for future TBCs, zirconate-based oxides with pyrochlore and fluorite are prevailing ones. In this study, phase structure and thermal conductivities of oxide system are investigated. system are comprised by selecting as A-site ions and as B-site ion in pyrochlore structures. With powder mixture from each oxide, oxides are fabricated via solid-state reaction at . Either pyrochlore or fluorite or mixture of both appears after heat treatment. For the developed phases along compositions, thermal conductivities are examined, with which the potential of compositions for TBC application is also discussed.

        미세 조직은 SEM, FT-IR 스펙트라, 인장특성, 그리고 [NCO]/[OH]의 mole %, 입도분석에 의해 측정하였다. 친환경적인 NATM에 관한 관심이 고조됨에 따라 스테인레스같은 금속코팅에 더욱더 중요한 열경화 무용제 수지를 합성 하였다. 이 수지는 일반적 도료와 비교하여 매우 강도가 강하고 내구성이 매우 좋다. 폴리우레탄 수지는 폴리올, IPDI, 실리콘 계면활성제, 촉매, 충전제로 구성된다. 폴리우레탄 화합물은 가교제가 첨가된 수지가 가교제가 첨가되지 않은 수지보다 물성이 우수함을 나타냈다. 견고한 폴리우레탄 도료의 기계적 특성은 [NCO]/[OH]와 가교제가 증가함에 따라 강도가 증가하였다. 합성한 도료의 물성 향상은 스테인레스 산업뿐만 아니라 다양한 산업에서 폴리우레탄 고분자 수지가 강구조물의 보수보강에 많은 응용이 기대된다.

        In this work, AlON-Al2O3 coatings were prepared on Al2021 alloy by the electrolytic plasma processing (EPP) method. The experimental electrolytes include: 2 g/l NaOH as the electrolytic conductive agent, 10 g/l Na2AlO2 as the alumina formative agent, and 0.5 g/l NaNO2, NaNO3, and NH4NO3 as the nitride inducing agents. The effects of different nitrogen inducing agents were studied by a combined compositional and structural analyses of the ceramic coatings carried out by Xray diffractometry (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for the specimens EPP-treated at room temperature for 15 min under a hybrid voltage of 260 DC along with an AC 50 Hz power supply (200 V). Microhardness tests and wear tests were carried out to correlate the evolution of the microstructure and the resulting mechanical properties. Potentiodynamic polarizations and immersion corrosion tests were carried out in 3.5wt% NaCl water solutions under static conditions in order to evaluate the corrosion behavior of the coated samples. The results demonstrate that NaNO2 is proven to be a good nitrogen inducing agent to produce high quality AlON-Al2O3 ceramic coatings.

        As operating temperatures of engines or turbines continually increase for higher efficiency, significant amounts of researches have been focused on finding new materials, which would be alternatives to conventional yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) for thermal barrier coatings (TBCs). In this study, phase evolution and thermo-physical properties of pyrochlore systems are investigated for TBC applications. systems are comprised by selecting as A-site ions and as B-site ions in pyrochlore structures. For the developed phases in compositions, thermo-physical properties such as thermal conductivity, thermal expansion coefficient are examined. The potential of these compositions for TBC application is also discussed.

        It was researched to be alternative of TGIC type hardener with human hazard element as PT 910 mix powder paint with hardener. Generally PT 910 was compared with TGIC & Epoxy resin of hardener to be used at thermosetting powder paint. We inquired a property of matter for paint through Gel time, glass transition temperature, melting point and a property of matter for film through a property of adhesion, a property of tolerance, softness, gloss, acid-resistant, alkali-resistant, salt water spray-resistant, facilitation climatic. When PT 910 is used of hardener, it was shown the excellent results in gel time, softness, salt water spray-resistant, fracilitation climatic and the similar results in melting point, a property of tolerance, a property of adhesion, gloss, acid-resistant, alkali-resistant, as compared with the powder paint used by TGIC hardener. The glass transition temperature was little low. But there was slightly different results. After the study results, we reached the conclusion that thermosetting powder used by PT 910 is alterative to by TGIC hardener.

        FePt nanoparticles suspension was synthesized by reduction of platinum acetylacetonate and decomposition of iron pentacarbonyl in the presence of oleic acid and oleyl amine. FePt nanoparticles were coated on a substrate by convective assembly from the suspension. To prevent the coalescence during the annealing of FePt nanoparticles double convective coatings were tried. First convective coating was for silica particle assembly on a silicon substrate and second one was for FePt nanoparticles on the previously coated silica layers. It was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) that FePt nanoparticles were dispersed on the silica particle surface. After annealing at 700˚C for 30 minutes under nitrogen atmosphere, FePt nanoparticles on silica particles were maintained in a dispersed state with slight increase of particle size. On the contrary, FePt nanoparticles that were directly coated on silicon substrate showed severe particle growth after annealing due to the close-packing of nanoparticles during assembly. The size variation during annealing was also verified by X-ray diffractometer (XRD). It was suggested that pre-coating, which offered solvent flux oppose to the capillary force between FePt nanoparticles, was an effective method to prevent coalescence of nano-sized particles under high temperature annealing.

        For the synthesis of water soluble acrylic modified epoxyester resin, fatty acid/epoxy ratio of 50/50 was used, and introduced maleic anhydride. Ratio of styrene/acrylic acid of acrylic monomers was fixed 85/15 and ratio of epoxyester/acrylic monomer was controlled 80/20, 75/25, 70/30, 65/35, and degree of neutralization were changed 65%, 80%, to 100%. As a result, 40% solids acrylic modified epoxyester resins were synthesized. Resins were evaluated water soluble stability, drying time, water resistant, storage stability and physical properties. And the white paints were prepared, and were evaluated viscosity, drying time, water resistance, adhesion, sagging, spray workability, gloss, salt spray resistance, skinning, whiteness and flash rust. As a result, the degree of neutralization of 100% and the ratio of epoxyester/acrylic monomer of 75/25 showed the best properties.

        A high thermal conductive AlN composite coating is attractive in thermal management applications. In this study, AlN-YAG composite coatings were manufactured by atmospheric plasma spraying from two different powders: spray-dried and plasma-treated. The mixture of both AlN and YAG was first mechanically alloyed and then spray-dried to obtain an agglomerated powder. The spray-dried powder was primarily spherical in shape and composed of an agglomerate of primary particles. The decomposition of AlN was pronounced at elevated temperatures due to the porous nature of the spray-dried powder, and was completely eliminated in nitrogen environment. A highly spherical, dense AlN-YAG composite powder was synthesized by plasma alloying and spheroidization (PAS) in an inert gas environment. The AlN-YAG coatings consisted of irregular-shaped, crystalline AlN particles embedded in amorphous YAG phase, indicating solid deposition of AlN and liquid deposition of YAG. The PAS-processed powder produced a lower-porosity and higher-hardness AlN-YAG coating due to a greater degree of melting in the plasma jet, compared to that of the spray-dried powder. The amorphization of the YAG matrix was evidence of melting degree of feedstock powder in flight because a fully molten YAG droplet formed an amorphous phase during splat quenching.

        This paper describes the results of the application of Cr-Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films for efficiency improvement through surface modification of spur gear parts in the hydraulic gear pump. Cr-DLC films were successfully deposited on SCM 415 substrates by a hybrid coating process using linear ion source (LIS) and magnetron sputtering method. The characteristics of the films were systematically investigated using FE-SEM, nano-indentation, sliding tester and AFM instrument. The microstructure of Cr-DLC films turned into the dense and fine grains with relatively preferred orientation. The thickness formed in our Cr buffer layer and DLC coating layer were obtained the 487 nm and . The average friction coefficient of Cr-DLC films considerably decreased to 0.15 for 0.50 of uncoated SCM415 material. The hardness and surface roughness of Cr-DLC films were measured 20 GPa and 10.76 nm, respectively. And then, efficiency tests were performed on the hydraulic gear pump to investigate the efficiency performance of the Cr-DLC coated spur gear. The experimental results show that the volumetric and mechanical efficiency of hydraulic gear pump using the Cr-DLC spur gear were improved up to 2~5% and better efficiency improvement could be attributed to its excellent microstructure, higher hardness, and lower friction coefficient. This conclusion proves the feasibility in the efficiency improvement of hydraulic gear pump for industrial applications.

        Citrus계 식용 코팅제인 beeswax-hydroxypropyl methylcellulose(BW-HPMC), soybean oil-carboxymethyl cellulose(SBO-CMC), carnaubawax-shellac-locust bean gum(CW-SL-LBG)를 각각 사용하여 레몬에 먼저 1차 코팅하고 항산화제인 비타민 C와 E를 섞어 그 위에 제 2차 코팅하여 이중층의 multilayered 레몬을 제조하였다. 레몬 껍질 위에 형성된 막의 양은 CW-SL-LBG, BW-HPMC, SBOCMC의 순으로 높게 나타났다. 가속 저장 실험 조건으로 30oC의 항온기에 12일 동안 저장하면서 유자의 중량감소율, 부패율, 경도, pH, 가용성 고형분, 적정산도, 갈변도의 변화를 측정하고 관능검사를 실시하였다. 중량감소율, 부패율, 경도, 갈변도는 CW-SL-LBG가 가장 작은 변화를 보였고, pH, 가용성 고형분, 적정산도의 변화는 SBO-CMC가 가장 작게 나타났다. 저장성의 관능검사에서는 CW-SL-LBG가 가장 양호하게 나타났다. 결과적으로 CW-SL-LBG가 비타민 C와 E를 함유한 multilayer 코팅에 가장 적합한 물질로 평가되었다.

        The degree of WC decomposition and hardness of thermally sprayed WC-Co coatings are important factors determining the wear resistance of the coatings. In order to minimize the degree of decomposition and to increase hardness, the effects of processing parameters of high velocity oxyfuel(HVOF) spraying on various characteristics of nanostructured WC-12Co coating have been evaluated by an experimental design method. The HVOF sprayed WC-12Co coatings consisted of various carbide phases including WC, and , with a much reduced carbon content. The degree of WC decomposition and decarburization was affected by changing barrel length and spray distance. The hardness of WC-Co coatings was strongly related to droplet temperature at substrate, and increased with increasing fuel addition and/or decreasing spray distance. The effective control of processing parameters was discussed in detail for manufacturing a high performance WC-Co coating.

        Two component polyurethane (PU) flame retardant coatings were prepared by blending trichloro modified polyesters (TCMPs) and isophorone diisocyanate isocyanurate. TCMPs were synthesized by polycondensation of trichlorobenzoic acid (TCBA), a flame retardant component, with adipic acid, 1,4 butanediol, and trimethylolpropane. The content of TCBA was varied in 10, 20, and 30 wt% for the reaction. Theses new flame retardant coatings showed various properties comparable to other non flame retardant coatings. Moreover, we carried out the combustion test and the flammability test for our flame retardant coatings. The results of vertical burning test for the coatings containing more than 20 wt% of TCBA were determined as no burn. The results of flammability test for the coatings with 20 wt% and 30 wt% of TCBA contents indicated the limiting oxygen index (LOI) values of 26% and 29% respectively, which implied relatively good flame retardancy.

        In order to synthesize high-solid coatings, acrylic resins (HSAs) containing 90% solid content were first synthesized, then the synthesized HSAs were cured with a curing agent, isocyanate, at room temperature to obtain high-solid coatings. In the HSAs synthesis, conversion was in a range of 82~87%, and viscosities and number-averaged molecular weight (Mn) of the HSAs were in a range of 4380~8010 cP and 1540~1660, respectively. From the correlation between Tg value, viscosity and Mn, it was found that, with increasing Tg value, viscosity increases rapidly and molecular weight increases slowly. From the visco-elasity measured by the pendulum method, it was found that the curing time decreased with increasing Tg values. From the tests of physical properties of the coatings' film, 60˚ specular gloss, impact resistance and heat resistance were proved to be good and pencil hardness, drying time and pot-life were proved to be poor.

        The flame-retardant coatings were prepared by blending the synthesized triphosphorus modified polyester in the previous paper and hexamethylene diisocyanate-trimer and curing it at room temperature. The characterization of the films of the prepared coatings was performed. It was confirmed that no deterioration of physical properties of PU coatings was observed with the increasing phenylphosphonic acid (PPA) contents. Flame retardancy was tested by a 45˚ Meckel burner method and LOI method. With the 45˚ Meckel burner method, CATBTP-20C and CATBTP-30C that contain 20 wt% and 30 wt% of PPA, flame retarding component, respectively, showed the first grade flame retardancy with 2.8~3.9 cm of char length ; and, with LOI method, they exhibited a good flame retardancy as a range of 30~32% of combustion values.
