‘보람찬’품종은 국립식량과학원 벼맥류부에서 2009년도에 육성한 중만생 양질 내병성 품종으로 출수기는 보통기 다비재배에서 8월 16일로 한마음보다 1일 늦은 중만생종이다. 쌀은 복백이 약간 있으나 아밀로스 함량이 18.7%로 밥맛이 좋은 편이고, 도열병, 흰잎마름병 레이스 Kl-3 및 줄무늬잎마름병에는 저항성이나 멸구류에는 약하다. 유묘 내냉성은 출수지연일수가 13일로 한마음 23일에 비하여 짧고 임실률은 41%로 약간 높다. 쌀수량은 보통기 다비재배에서 7.33 T/ha로 한마음보다 9% 증수되었고 적응지역은 중부이남 평야지 l, 2모작지이다.
‘Boramchan’ is a new japonica rice variety developed and registered by the rice breeding team of Department of Rice and Winter Cereal Crop, NICS, RDA in 2009. This variety was derived from a cross HR21124 and Gyehwa24. This variety has about 121 days of growth duration from transplanting to harvesting in Honam and Youngnam plain of Korea. It is about 74 cm in culm length and tolerance to lodging. In reaction to biotic stresses, it shows moderate resistance to blast, resistance to bacterial blight pathogen races from K1 to K3, and Rice stripe virus, but susceptible to other diseases and insect pests. The milled rice of ‘Boramchan’ has high Quality, short grain. The milled rice yield of this variety is about 7.33 T/ha in local adaptability test for three years. ‘Boramchan’ would be adaptable to Middle plain, Honam plain and Youngnam plain area of Korea.
