학교숲사업이 무엇인지에 대하여 잘 알고 있는 응답자는 지역주민과 교사 모두 7%와 25%에 불과했으며 학교숲의 효과에 대해서는 학생들을 가르치는 교사들은 학교숲의 교육적 효과가 가장 크다고 응답하였으며 지역주민들은 ‘학교숲사업’의 교육적 효과(4.35), 환경적 효과(4.40), 지역의 공원역할(4.42), 학교의 이미지 제고(4.16) 등에 대해서 모두 긍정적효과가 있다고 인식하는 것으로 판단되었다.지역주민을 대상으로 한 학교숲의 이용실태에 대한 결과를 확인해보면 대상 초등학교의 학교숲 이용목적으로는전반적으로 ‘걷기, 달리기’의 비율이 높게 나타난 반면 ‘환경교육 및 자연교육’을 위해 이용한다는 응답은 낮게 나타나지역주민은 초등학교 학교숲을 운동 목적으로 많이 이용함을 알 수 있었다. 학교숲을 이용하는 이유로는 ‘가까이 있어서이용하기 쉽기 때문(접근성 양호)’이란 응답이 가장 높게 나타났다.마지막으로 대상지별로 지역주민과 교사의 학교숲에 대한 만족도를 확인할 수 있었으며 학교숲 이용의 활성화를위한 추가 조성요소도 파악할 수 있었다.학교숲은 해당 학교만의 관심사가 아니며 중앙정부, 지자체 및 사회단체 등 다양한 지원주체가 통합적으로 지원체계를구축할 필요가 있으며 현재 1년 단위로 행정에서 주관하여 지원하는 학교숲 조성사업이 단계별 사업추진과 다년간 지원을통한 사후유지관리시스템으로 구축하는 것이 무엇보다도 중요할 것이다. 또한, 학교숲가꾸기사업의 활성화를 위해서는좀 더 많은 재원확보가 필요하며 학교숲의 공감대 형성을 위해 보다 내실있는 홍보가 뒷받침되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.
School forest, an important part of the urban forest, has diverse functions and plays an important role in artificial environment. It has three main functions: educational for children, ecological for nature, and cultural for residents. In spite of its diverse functions and roles, the utilization statuss and satisfactions of school forest have not been correctly evaluated, resulting in institutional inertia. To improve these problems, this study was synthetically conducted by the post occupancy evaluation of users(residents and teachers) at elementary school forest in Daegu City. This study can be summarized as follows: 1. 65% of residents and 95% of teachers knew the School Forest Movement. Teachers responded educational function of school forest is the most and residents rated educational function(4.35), environmental function(4.40), role of regional park(4.42) and role of improving school image(4.16) of school forest high. 2. More than half of residents used school forest for exercises-walking or running. In case of the frequency of use of school forest, 'once or twice a week' was higher than others. They usually used school forest in 'evening or after work'. 3. In a survey of residents and teachers about a reform measure and problems of school forest, the necessity of a post management system and financial security were significant requests. In addition, steady publicity and education, participant program, and incentives for teachers should be considered. This study is meaningful to systematically develop and activate the school forest movement. The integrated approach to the school forest movement reflects opinions of related users and is expected to become a useful foundation in studying about the improvement of city environments.
