『홍루몽』은 중국문학의 대표적인 작품이다. 간행되자마자 중국뿐만 아니라 조선, 일본, 베트남 등지로 전파되었다.『홍루몽』이 가지고 있는 특성을 고찰하는 것은 전파의 특성을 연구하는 데 아주 중요한 작용이 있다. 『홍루몽』의 문예적인 특성을 살펴보고 독자들이 상상과 추측을 통해 반복적으로 생각하여 점차 작품에서 표현하려는 깊은 의미와 미묘함을 이해하여 암호 해독 과정 중에서 즐거움을 얻어 극대한 예술적 향유를 느끼게 된다. 『홍루몽』은 독자들에게 풍부하고 영명함, 미묘한 암시를 제공하였고 이러한 점이 바로 『홍루몽』이 널리 오랫동안 전파되어 무궁한 흥미와 연구 자료로서의 기치를 제공하는 중요한 원인 중의 하나이다. 이에 『홍루몽』에 대한 정확한 이해를 위해서 먼저 작품 형성과정을 살펴보고 작가가 살았던 당시의 문화와 현실에 대해 조명해 보고자 했다. 본고에서는 『홍루몽』의 가치를 다양한 시각으로 재탐색하는 방법으로 『홍루몽』의 문예적인 특성을 살펴보고 또한 한국에의 유입에 대하여 정리했다. 그러나 본고에서는 뚜렷한 자료를 제시하지 못한 점이 있다. 앞으로 이를 좀 더 보완하여 부족한 부분을 채워가고자 한다. 이와 같은 연구를 통하여 한․중양국의 문화교류를 이해하고, 미래의 관계를 개선해 가는데 큰 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다.

『A Dream in Red Mansions』is a representative piece in Chinese literature. As soon as it was printed, it was spread to Joseon, Japan, Vietnam, and so on as well as China. Examining features of 『A Dream in Red Mansions』can play a significant role in studying features of spreading. After examining literary features of 『A Dream in Red Mansions』and thinking it repeatedly through imagination and supposition, if it is possible to understand deep meaning and delicacy of it, it is also possible to gain pleasure of process for code-breaking and feel extreme artistic enjoyment. 『A Dream in Red Mansions』provides plentiful, clever, and delicate implications to readers and this point is one of main reasons for providing infinite interest and values as a research material for a long time. Therefore, it was first trying to examine the process of formation of this piece and focus on the culture and the reality of that time when the author lived for accurate understanding. After examining reasons of it in various ways, it was also trying to arrange contents in the view of contents of pieces, cultural background and spreading methods.In this study, through the method researching values of 『A Dream in Red Mansions』in various ways, it was trying to find cultural differences followed by the acceptance aspect of each country. But, it had the limitation because it didn't suggest clear materials. In the future, after more complementing it, this limitation will be corrected. Through these studies, it is expected that it is possible to understand cultural exchange of both countries, Korea and China and it can play a significant role in improving the future relationship between them.
