중국 학계에서도 포은은 한국의 주자학 연구 과정에서 비껴갈 수 없는 학문적 대상으로 일정한 무게를 가지고 진행되고 있다. 그러나 일차적인 자료의 부족 등 객관적인 연구 여건으로 말미암아 연구과정의 논리적 비약 역시 문제로 되고 있다. 포은의 깊이 있는 연구를 위해서는 四書, 五經, 程朱學은 물론 비교문학 등의 정밀한 지식과 풍부한 상상력을 가지고 그의 시, 문등의 텍스트를 읽어가야 한다.

Poeun has been one of the most important research object, especially for the study of Korean Jujahak, in China as well as in Korea. However, the circumstances of study are not good enough for effective study for many reasons such as the lack of data base about Poeun. Deep knowledge and thorough reading are required for the study of Poeun. For example researchers of Poeun are recommended to read the Four Books of Ancient China and the Five Classics of Confucianism, Jungjoohak, and to study comparative literature with fertile imagination.
