정몽주는 고려 말 기울어져가는 國運을 되살리기 위해 暗中摸索하면서 싸웠던 萬古의 忠臣이다. 그는 李成桂의 易姓革命은 목숨을 걸고 반대했지만 동아시아의 격변기에 親元排明정책을 반대했고 旭日昇天하는 기세로 떠오르는 명나라와의 親和적 外交를 통해 國運을 되살리고자 했다. 목숨을 건 千辛萬苦의 사행 길에서 그는 客苦와 鄕愁를 한시로 달랬는데 이는 정몽주의 인간적인 모습을 보여 주는 동시에 한국 使行文學의 白眉로 된다. 동아시아의 강대국 속에 끼어있는 한국(조선)의 대외정책에 있어서 名分과 實利의 모순을 균형감 있게 처리하는 것은 국가 存在와 發展을 이루는 중요한 과제로 된다. 時代와 歷史의 發展推移를 통찰하고 끝없이 苦惱하고 思考하면서 민족과 국가의 운명을 타개하기 위해 노력한 고려의 충신 정몽주, 그는 오늘을 살고 있는 한국인의 거울이 된다.

As we know, Jung MongJoo is famous mostly for his work “Dan Sim Ga” and recognized as an incarnation of sincerity to the king and a well-known Confucian scholar who spread blood on the altar at the end of Goryeo against Lee SungGae’s revolution of changing surname. However, his Sa HangGa, in which his ambition, distress and strategies devoted to attempting to rescue and flourish Goryeo are shown in such rapid changes of situation like at the end of Yuan Dynasty and beginning of Ming in the EasternAsia,hasnotbeenwellknowntotheworld. The objective of the study is to scrutinize his SaHangGa using the theory and methodology of Psychoanalysis and Comparative Literature (Imageology). First, the paper searched the time of Jung MongJoo, his travelling to Ming and China’simageinhisSaHangGa. Then the paper investigated his distress, his intense patriotism, and display of his wide prospective and wisdom, through the counterpart of Ming Dynasty. Finally, the paper looked into the modern significance of his existence.
