본 연구는 활동 분석을 통한 토피어리 작품 만들기가 지적장애인의 직업기술과 적응행동에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아보고자 하였다. 연구에 참여한 대상자는 경상북도 영천시 P시설에 거주하는 지적 장애인 7명을 대상으로 하였다. 토피어리 프로그램은 2008년 6월 27부터 2008년 10월 24까지 매주 금요일 오후 2시부터 1시간, 주 1회, 총 18회 실시하였다. 원예활동 실시 전과 후, 직업기술 검사지 하위항목 중 신체능력의 경우, 14.4점에서 19.0점으로 4.6점이 향상되어, P<0.05 수준에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 직업행동의 경우, 16.4점에서 19.7점으로 3점이 향상되어 P<0.05 수준에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 적응행동 검사지 하위항목 기술과 습관변화 영역의 경우, 직업 전 활동, 사회화영역에서 각각 4.14에서 5.40점으로 1.26점, 7.57점에서 10.42점으로 2.85점 향상되어 유의수준 P<0.05에서 유의한 차이를 나타났으며, 성격 및 행동변화 영역의 경우, 반사회적 행동은 9.0점에서 7.0점으로 2점이 낮아져 유의수준 P<0.05에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 이상의 결과로부터 지적장애인을 대상으로 토피어리 활동을 단계별로 분석한 원예활동이 직업기술과 적응행동에 효과적이라고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구 결과를 토대로 차후 다양한 프로그램을 장기간 계획하고 실시한다면 보다 효과적인 직업재활 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것이라고 판단된다.
This study was to evaluate the impact on the job skills and adaptive behavior to people with disabilities through the topiary work. The participants were seven intellectual disabilities who live in P facility in Yeong-cheon, Gyungsangbuk-do. Topiary program was carried out for only one hour every Friday from 2 PM in October 27, 2008 to October 24, 2008. Before and after horticultural activities. Body ability and vocational action were improved as 4.6 points from 14.4 to 19.0 and 3.0 points from 16.4 to 19.7 through statistical analysis (P<0.05). For changes of skill and habit, pre-vocational action and socialization were improved as 1.26 points (4.14 to 5.40) and 2.85 points (7.57 to 10.42), respectively, at significant level (P<0.05). For changes of nature and action, antisocial action fell 2.0 points from 9.0 to 7.0 at significant level (P<0.05). From this results, horticultural works through step-by-step topiary activities were effective to intellectual disabilities. Therefore, vocational rehabilitation training is effective when long-term plans are built and horticultural works are step-by-step performed based on this results.
